Who Maintains the Forums?

The reason I'm asking, and asking HERE, is that there's an ongoing problem with people being spontaneously logged out of these forums. There's a thread about it in the Development/Technical Issues and Bugs section but so far as I can tell that thread is serving no purpose other than as a place for people to commiserate.

So here's hoping someone will notice this thread and pass it along to someone who can look into it. And to ensure that someone in power, so to speak, sees this thread, I now summon them with the following magic words:

Yea seriously. It not a major issue for me but it's freaking annoying. Happens at least once a day no matter what browser I'm using.

Ever since it started for me it seems to be almost totally random. Sometimes I'll go almost a week without it happening then it'll happen 4 or 5 times a day for a while. I've yet to figure out if there's anything I can do to prevent or avoid it.

P.S. Ironically enough it just happened to me again as I was trying to post this post.

It wouldn't even be so bad, but it also marks all threads as read. This is the bigger pain for me.

Not surprisingly, when I first came to this thread, I was logged out of the forums. I then had 4 failed attempts to log back in. No, I was not mistyping my credentials.

Whatever interface exists between these forums and the account validation server is beyond flaky.

Yes, the company that runs these forums, NCSoft, is aware of the issue. How do I know this? Because I posted in the thread the OP links to and then hit Notify Mod on my own post.

They are aware. They appear unwilling or unable to do anything about it. Nor do they feel the issue warrants any kind of statement about the topic.

Hey. Right after I posted earlier in this thread it logged me out, then refused to let me log back in (with the correct password/username). Tried logging back in with Opera, Firefox and Chrome before it locked me out.

Fun times.

I can't believe Castle hasn't fixed this ARRHHHH!!!! THEY SHOULD CALL BAB"S AND GET HIM TO COME BACK AND FIX IT NOW1!!!


But yeah, happens to me a lot, to many to count through out the day and at least once a day I get the Password error message.

Annoying as hell and makes using these boards a chore.

Little help would be nice.

I had actually only experienced the logout problem once, but then when I went to reply to this thread, I was logged out, and got 'invalid username or password' messages when I tried again. I was locked out.

Asking on the server's channel, I wasn't the only one. All of us had issues logging in all at the same time.

NCSoft websites and a positive user experience prove once again to be total strangers.

The forums are steam-powered

I heard there's booster pack coming in December that allows you to stay logged in to the forums. It will cost $8 and also adds a MacBook emote, which is just a retextured /em laptop.

$8 to not have to log in to the forums every other visit? Wot a deal!

Didn't this have something to do with people running Firefox in combination with Add-Ons like Adblock, Greasemonkey and No-Script?

I run Firefox with AdBlockPlus and don't have any problems.

And if I did have problems, it really wouldn't be the web-designers' fault. They can't take into account every add-on that people use.

However, if this is happening using IE/Firefox/Chrome/etc without any plugins/addons, then yes, I would definitely say that's a developmental issue.
