I get logged out regularly as well, but it's even worse on my old computer. On that computer I get logged out as soon as it redirects me back to the forums from the logon screen. I've tried dumping the cache, all my cookies, etc. to no effect.

Happens on both IE8 and Firefox, and the only add-on I have on either of them is my AVG Identity Guard. However, I can stay logged into other forums almost endlessly without the same thing happening there, and prior to a certain point, it was not an issue on these forums for me.

I run Firefox with AdBlockPlus and don't have any problems.

And if I did have problems, it really wouldn't be the web-designers' fault. They can't take into account every add-on that people use.

However, if this is happening using IE/Firefox/Chrome/etc without any plugins/addons, then yes, I would definitely say that's a developmental issue.

I regularly use FireFox with ABP. It happens routinely for me.

I have also tried browsing in IE, Chrome and Safari (none of which have any add ons whatsoever), and it occurs on each of them, as well.

I am regularly on one other vBulletin message board, and I have never been logged out of that one irregularly.

I have PMed Avatea to poke at the web team and last she told me, the problem was fixed. It happened again, only this time when the forum logs me out... It forgets my user name and password! That's right, I can type my user name and password carefully and correctly and it will say that what I have entered is incorrect.

I can do this for five times, each time telling me that what I have typed in is incorrect before my tries runs out and it locks me out. Then I wait until later and it works again. This is some seriously bizarre forum behavior, and it is only getting worse.

I've been having this problem for several weeks. I assumed it was my internet provider because of other problems I'm having unrelated to the forums.

There's a now long thread on this in the tech support forum. It happens to people on different browsers, different OSes, using different ISPs. All the evidence suggests it has nothing to do with the client side of things, because there are too many different client configurations all sharing the problem. It seems far more likely that the problem is with the server side, either in the forum software.

I've looked at my own browser session cookies for the forums, and they always have expiry dates well out past the timeframes in which I get logged out. It's like the server forgets about the session attached to my cookie's session ID.

I have two guesses that seemed reasonable for this behavior, based on similar versions of this behavior I've seen in other web/app server software. One is that that there is some misconfiguration (or bug) in the forum software that's losing/dropping people's server-side sessions. The other is that there's a problem where the forums are being served by a farm of web/app servers and they are not appropriately sharing session information among one another. If there is a load balancer dishing our page requests to different web servers, we may lose our session when we hit a server that doesn't know about our session ID.

I PM'ed Avatea about this about a week ago. There is a fix in the works.

No guarantee that the fix, that's in the works, actually works when it gets out of the works, but that's how life works.

A fix in the works? Funny, when I last asked her she said it was fixed. So I'm afraid I don't put any stock in that response. Also, it's good to be back on the servers. I was locked out all afternoon.

Yup.

I get logged out about daily and just log back in with no problem, but tonight it logged me out, told my my password was invalid and wouldn't let me log in at all :-/

I find the "oops, I don't recognize your password" issue often coincides with the NCstore being down.

'Bout an hour ago I got logged out with a rejected login. Over the course of the next 20 minutes I used up my 5 failed logins, and just got around to trying it again.
