these type of contests are very unfair to poeple who have a problem loading the webpage or have slower loading times on web pages (i dont have problem with slow loading, but web pages failing to load randomly affects everyone)
I too dislike this style of giveaway for codes I have been searching for for quite awhile now.
Could we get the costume codes enabled over at the PlayNC store same as the boosters... I would be willing to pay 5.00 for one of them, or 20.00 for the set. They don't change anything in gameplay so it can't be a balance issue... ::sigh::

First, I am glad they aren't calling this a contest anymore... cuz it isn't. It is a very quickly over giveaway.
Second, it's cool that they are willing to toss around free stuff. But:

Well, I will be looking for this stuff, though I don't twitter. However, I officially have the Worst Luck of All Time, so I prolly wont get it. But at least imma try. Also I won't complain!

Whining about free stuff being given away is sad. Getting over it is your only real option.
Meh, I'd like to get a code for either the Science or Mutant pack(s) but...I very seriously doubt I'll get it....whenever they do these things someone/people have some sort of web crawler that grabs and applies it to their account within 5 seconds of it being posted it seems.
It's their stuff so they can give it away however they want to...just hope that in the future there may be a different way (especially nice if it'd be possible for me to get one ).

I dunno, personally I'd have stuck to Costume Power codes (since people can't just buy them) and given away about 10 a day.
Some sort of "Where's Wally" type forum game where a Mod posts into a thread (or ninja-edits someones recent post to pop one in) and puts in a clicky image of the Cossie in question (so a picture of a Carnie pops up in a thread somewhere and clicking on it reveals the code which needs to be applied).
Playing Hunt the Carnies throughout the Forum would be more fun than watching Facebook or Twitter along with 100s of other people and desperately scrambling to get your prize.
Pure genius! Must have taken some real brainpower to come up with this one from the marketing team. Well done

these kind of giveaways have been going on for years, even before the internet...oh hello radio free ticket/prize giveaways, be x-person to call in.

Oh poo! They are giving stuff away that I either do not want or already have! Those people in Marketing are morons. My internet is WAY too slow and my computer sucks! They shouldn't call this kind of thing a contest! The times for the EU sucks!
Did I hit enough of the whines? Get over yourselves people. This is meant to be a minor (i.e. - non-costly) treat to current players and nothing more. It was meant to be fun for a relatively small section of the player base that would chase this stuff down, not for the entire games base.
By the way, it really is pathetic to complain about free stuff that is being given away.

The last give-away (mutant) I lost my lucky chance because the security measures in the NCSoft web logged me out (I forgot to hit F5 in the last 5 minutes to avoid it). In the 6 secs I spent logging in and rewriting the code, it was claimed.

I'm glad they're doing the give-away for the folks who couldn't afford to buy the boosters. I've already got all of the stuff in that list that I want, so I'll just look forward to GR going live and applaud whoever wins the codes in the give-away. It's going to take diligence and speed, I imagine

City of Heroes: Going Rogue is almost here, and we want to celebrate by giving stuff away! In an effort to share a bit of our pre-release excitement, we're going to be handing out booster packs and costume code goodies leading up to (and including) launch day.
So how will this work you ask? Once per day, starting on Thursday, August 5th and continuing through the launch of Going Rogue (except for weekends), we'll be posting codes (either for one of our Super Booster packs or one of our exclusive in-game costume powers) in one of three places: Facebook, Twitter, or the Official City of Heroes Message Forums. Just be on the lookout for a post, tweet, or update from us with a link to the codes and then apply them to your account. If you're the first to apply it, you get it - first come, first served!
