Remember, they do animation - they don't have anything to do with bug fixes, server issues, costume parts, mission design, map creation or finding a way to make Jay less sexy - they do animation.

So maybe they look at a list of low priority/unscheduled requests involving animation, and decide to use this free work time to add the most popular one that's been requested by lots of players for ages?
Man, it's been the mythical 2000 posts again already?
Once more, GG drops the smiley and gets out the claws ^^

I just wanted to pipe up and say: I love the new ability to Walk, and I have no problems with how it was implemented or how it functions. (And I don't even RP.)

Thank you BaBs, thank you very much.

Or a fancy double backflip for when you turn on the feature you mentioned. Otherwise, you need programmers/coders to change the powers to be recolorable, set them up to work with power customization, or change the display options so you don't see other people's colors... are you noticing how none of these things have to do with the way your character animates?

Maybe if you want a valid complaint you could say something like, "Damn you BABs, why aren't you making new dance emotes and hug emotes for us to use? Forget this pointless walking stuff. We need pointless dancing stuff." Or "Why aren't you adding alternate animations for Claws and Electric Melee? This is a valid, non-RP, PvE concern!"
OK, my bad. Thanks for bolding animation and animate for me.

Are all of the stalker animations working?

Odd thing is, when I heard rumors of getting Walk capability at HeroCon, I thought it was going to be part of the Natural SuperBooster.

Instead, BAB made it so it's freely available to everyone and people still gripe bcause something he has nothing to do with wasn't fixed. Amazing.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Black Pebble is my new hero.

When people start complaining about something good, I'm simply reminded of what the wise sages known as the Refreshments once said, "Everybody knows that the world is full of stupid people."

Truer words have never been spoken.

Loving that the dev team sliced a bit of time to do this for us, thanks guys.

Anyways, let's meet at the mission, we can divvy up there. Soon blasters will have pistols, so they'll take the pesos.

Yeah, that seems fair.

I think those will be part of the "Welcome Back From CO" booster pack.

I want animated hair.

Oh, and hey, a pie emote. Is there already a pie emote?

It's honestly pay for the ability to skitter around on all fours. I have a monkeygal, and a few others who I'd do it with.

I'm guessing you missed seeing where BAB already commented on this. I'll bold the parts that address your post.

Eventually, I'd like to create walk animations for the various combat modes...but that's a significant chunk of work and I don't know if we'll ever be able to get to it. If we can, then Walk could be made into a regular travel mode power...one which could work with combat as well. Which would make the issue of toggle deactivation/suppression moot.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

I hear some stores have dropped prices significantly on a certain other game that allows you to do this. Living in a small town in a hick backwater area, I've not seen those price reductions.

I'm sure if I went to Austin, Houston, San Antonio or possibly even Corpus Christi that i could find the bargain prices for said game.

I'm just not interested enough to make it worth my time.

Just want to say Thank you BAB's.
Love the ability to finally Walk. And as said from a player before me "Welcome to the city of Heroes, where heroes learn to run before they walk"...
Ok that was random.

Again, love the ability to walk. Will be great for the RP community And the way we walk.. rawrrr.
And as others have said... I think we await the "other" types of walking animations now (more more more (poor BaB's))

Allow me to rephrase to say I'd pay money on a good game for the ability to run around on all fours.

So I come onto the forums all angry that the TF bug isn't fixed yet and...

... a new walk toggle...

...I can't stay angry at the devs. It's too nifty. If only for all of the crazy responses in this forum thread, even, all of the puns and things. But I know I'll use it to just wander around aimlessly and take in the artwork that makes the city.

But umm, please don't forget to fix the TF bug, it's still important!

::Goes for a walk in the park::

EDIT: I'm told the TF bug is being/has been addressed. I may have spoken too soon, as usual, even though I... like never speak. Ah well, I'm too amused to care for the time being honestly. The difficulty this game offers was a major motivation for me being here, but I like going for strolls, too.

I agree with others though, a new icon (or at least one that isn't the same as sprint) would be very helpful in not getting all of your inherent travel powers so confused. Just a thought.

I don't know...I assume they are. I'm not aware of any bugs related to Stalker animations. That's not to say that there aren't, just that I'm not currently aware of any.

Speaking of animations, any chance that a future update for Power Customization Energy Melee will give us the ability to select the old animation? Keep the charge time as is, but for those that just don't like the raising of two glowing fists, we could then have our toon draw back an arm and charge up and release a devastating punch.

I hope I don't run out of keyframes for that one. I better order some more just to make sure I'm covered.
Begging your pardon BAB, but I don't see where PhantomRanger asked or implied that YOU were the one who should be fixing bases.

He simply stated his opinion that the walking animation doesn't really carry as much importance to him as base fixes, and that he would have rather seen base fixes in the patch notes.

This is supposed to be a thread regarding thoughts/opinions on the patch notes, right?

Actually, he is questioning why adding walking was important and added that he knows many players that would have rather used this time for base improvements.

The implied part of that statement is that the person who worked on adding Walk is the same one that would work on base improvements. The word "would have rather used this time" is what implies they would be the same, in case you aren't just being purposefully obtuse.

BAB answered in his usual humorous fashion, which many on the forums "get". Would you have rather he just replied "I don't care, not my job" to comments like these that are basically implying he's doing something other than his job?

Please check out the Release Notes for today's Training Room publish of Build 1600.20091102.1T (published today at 2PM Pacific/5PM Eastern - Thursday, November 5).

We addressed the cursor issue for Mac users (with the Intel GMA X3100 video card).

Right, but you're still making the assumption that we get one or the other. That because we got a Walk toggle, we won't get base improvements or that time was somehow taken away from working on base improvements (by whoever does that). This is the part that is wrong.

Saying "the time spent on the walk toggle could have been better spent on base improvements" is ridiculous. Because it's time spent simultaneously by different departments. Time taken from one does not go to the other. Implying or assuming that because we got a Walk toggle, base improvements are further down the road than they were, is just silly. And wrong. And /em facepalm worthy.

Proof that more than one thing can be worked on at the same time! Astounding! I'm sure this will make the Mac Users happy.
