  1. Nope. Emp/Rad 'fender since I0.

I don't even have stamina on her still.

I also know a grav controller who has the team teleport power at lvl 32 instead of sing as well...

    But...bah, now I can't post anything, everything's been covered...-sigh-
  3. Some lesser known must sees:

    - Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade - Alternate modern day history with a ... unique look on the Red Riding Hood story. Military unit versus Red Riding Hoods: female suicide bombers. It's a movie, not a series, but well worth a watch.

    - Crest of the Stars. A series that some don't like because it has spaceships, aliens, a lot of the flxings of normal space shows. But it's not about any of that, it's about the interactions and conversations of the two main characters. Some find it slow and lacking action, and while it's true, watching said characters grow is well worth the entire 13 episodes. That and probably one of the meaniest and funniest pranks a father can play his young daughter. (Just thinking about it makes me laugh...)

Naw, this is an internet forum, I fully expected a lot of the "Why would you do that" / "Why post this idea".

As to why? Well, I started out with an emp/rad, and since I don't alt that much I still play an emp/rad. Never had much need for stamina on that build. When I did build alts, at first it was because I didn't need it originally and thus it never registered.

Then, once it became a 'must have', I refused to take it BECAUSE it was the 'must have'. In any game that has something you 'must take' I often don't take it and try to see what/how I can build. I play a lot of 4e DnD (And let's not start that holy war here...), and on the forums there are a lot of SKY BLUE MUST TAKE AT THIS LEVEL powers.

I ignore them, and force myself to build around that.

Same with stamina. CoH is built on fast, non-stop battles, so damage rises up to be king, with preventing damage (buffs/debuffs/control) the matching queen.

To be honest, a lot of my stamina-less builds I couldn't group with, I'll be honest. But it was fun. Slotting cone range enhancments and other odd slotting strats, taking odd powers, coming up with mentalities other then zerg mob, kill mob on missions, for me, that's the fun of the game. Some people like to explore, others like to min/max. I like to see how many different ways you can do the same thing.

The keystone to that was "Not stamina", since it's the keystone in run in kill stuff system.

Am I saying I want inherent fitness removed? No, that'd be stupid, I know how many people have asked for that, and that I'm in a very tiny minority, if not alone, in not wanting it.

Am I saying I'm a better person then you for not ever having taken stamina? Nope. I have an odd approach to life, and this game. I'm well aware of this, of my manias.

Is it game over for me? Nope. At the very least, the baseline is now unslotted stamina, so now I shift into "never having slotted stamina" instead of "never having taken stamina". And I still have a few challenges, like a dry Sister Psyche run, or a dry any mission involving lots of sewer mission. (Dry x run - do not step in the water of any mission you're in or going to, automated movement movement from 'entering door after clicking door' animation excluded. If you make the splash sound fx, that counts as getting wet)

Why did I post this. There's been people throughout the years who've always thought my odd little quirk was interesting, and I don't know if they've passed or are still around or whatnot, so the general announcement.

    End of an Era

So, yesterday when I logged in my only Praetorian for the first time since the first week of GR, marked the end of an era in City of Heroes.

That level 4 kin/sonic defender was the first character I've ever had with stamina on the live servers.

I'd gotten this far without it, I guess since it was made inherent it was only a matter of time until I played a character that I hadn't stamina proofed with an entry level fitness power.

Yes, I know this is a boon for all, and maybe over time I'll learn not to feel unclean with an unslotted stamina. But still, it's like your favorite little corner food stand closing down for a T.G.I. Fridays to go in its place.

    R.I.P. Stamina-less PsychoPez - June 2004 - March 2011
  8. I'm trying to get at least one fitness power on all my characters, so at least for my older characters I'll have the option of not having it on them.

I've never taken stamina on any of my characters. Not even my DB/DA scrapper. I've sort of made that a point of pride in my character creation, that I can make playable, if suboptimal, characters that can ignore the need for stamina.

I mean, I don't mind the inherent, if I could make builds before without the bonus, just imagine what I can do now, but at least for my main, I'll never be able to respec her build post i19, just because it'll be there. And I'll know. It'll be there, mocking me with its extra endurance...

Then again, I know a grav troller who hasn't respeced since i0 and doesn't have sing as the lvl 32 power. So it's possible.

    Fortitude

My fort rotation, all other things equal, goes Blaster -> Fender/Troller -> Scrapper/Tanker in priority of who get fort.

But I'm willing to change on demand as the situation needs it. Anyone single digits level SKed up (Happens a lot during sg nights) gets it, to help offset lack of slotting.

Bubbler on the team becomes my number 1 priority, usually getting the PBU Fort. (Heck, on a team with a bubbler I basically become their servant, as they keep me and the rest of the team safe. I'm just there to keep *THEM* safe)

I preordered on the promise of new 1-20 content and switching sides, nothing more. Anything else, or the lack of anything else, doesn't matter.

Thus, as long as those are delivered, I can say good call on the delay of the Alpha Slot.

  16. The first December we were in Gemini Park, someone said something the broadcast channel ooc, to which someone else responded ooc.

For the next 3 hours or so, broadcast was just this ooc chat room of all these people we've been rping with for months. It was like everyone decided, I'm just gonna take today off.

Also, the Pinky and the Brain improvs Terra Skye and I would inflict on people at random times.

Theroy: The term bind on pickup is used in other MMOs. Since this is more a marketing thing than an existing player thing, it makes sense to use terms that other MMO players use.

Maybe this isn't for loyal players. Just a theory (And a bit of rationalization, as I did preorder and am now uncertain at how I feel about that) but the bonus is something to entice fair weather players, or new players, rather than current subscribers?

You know, "Come, play this game, you'll even get this shiny new bonus that current players don't have!"

I mean, it's not a television ad, but once it hits the game blogs and what not, it might even be some sort of pseudo-advertising, or at least what amounts to advertising in the Toon Town Acid Trip that is modern video game advertising...

Pretty well done. Definitely get a "voice" from the contact and noticed little nuances like making a self-rescuing ally create a clue as you zone in. Similar to Peppercat, you need to check the ordering of some of your clues. Also, there's one or two places where objectives need a smidge more description ("Soldier Elh'tur" should be "Defeat Soldier Elh'tur"). I found the victory intriguingly chilling in implication, to the point of wishing I was on one of my villains for the first runthrough (I used my Stalker to stealth through to the failure ending).

This may not be wrong if you're going for an accent. Just sounded weird when I read it.
No, that's wrong, one of the earlier iterations had Epillito using a southern drawl to give character, but it was more annoying then intended, so I tried to tone that aspect down. He originally talked like that in EVERY dialog...thanks for the catch.

    Thanks for the review!

To counter argue this, for the longest time every Saturday night on Virtue a small community built up around running the MoSTF. Bring what every you wanted, show up at 6:00p or so.

Tankers stand by the the helicopter, blasters/scrappers over here, fenders/trollers over there. Teams would be made, and a whole force of people would run it as one.

Some nights no one would get it. Some nights multiple people would. Every week would have some regulars, and some new people show up.

I really disagree with this. This line of thinking removes all TF badges, not just MoSTF. (Sure, you could solo many TFs, but that requires a specific build/AT, which you also were somewhat against.)

I really guess I've just been lucky not to run into the situations you describe when trying for my Master badges. We've had deaths at the Thorn Tree, at Arbiter Sands, at Wretch, and for the most part people just go, "Oh well, at least now we can use Vengeance and Fallout". I think people who don't care about badging having more fun getting the Masters badge because they're enjoying the game win or lose, not paranoid over everything being perfect so they can add one to their score.

Just because people can be dicks about a badge doesn't mean the badge itself (or in the case of Masters, the concept itself) should be abolished, it just means people are dicks.

I recommend trying to get Master badges with people who don't care about getting Master badges: you'll have just the same amount of difficulty getting it as you would a dedicated team, but you (A generic you, not focused at you Nericus) just might more fun failing at it then stressing out and succeeding.

And throw enough darts at the board, or do enough fun runs, and you'll eventually get it. Some teams just magically click.

Edit to add: What Turgenev said. Me too.
