That would require animation blending.

So if a Walk toggle was created, that must mean that time was taken away from something else, something ~more important~. This is patently false. It means that in their spare time, while other people were working on different things, rather than slack off, they tinkered with the Walk animation and now it's done. Yay!

I'm going to choose to believe that the people who don't understand this are still young and haven't been in the workplace yet.
Yep, I'm betting that the "Walk" animation was something they assigned to a new-ish animator to work on and learn the system.
I mean that sounds like something that will be spiffy for the folks that appreciate and/or want it - but also something that had no deadline = 'must been completed by date'.

I think it's something BaBs could get started - outline/explain - and then assign the job to an "apprentice" and maybe check their progress, would need minimal supervision, etc.

And if it didn't work out... Well, no harm no foul right?
Or he could come back in and assist said "apprentice" (IIRC, He DID say he had one of these awhile back right?) in fixing it and making it work properly - explaining where they missed stuff or whatever.

OR, I could be totally "off-base" here , *shrug*

I hope I don't run out of keyframes for that one. I better order some more just to make sure I'm covered.

Mine was about 28mb. Not sure how many patches I've missed either.

A separate note to anyone who feels there is something wrong with BaBs giving us the Walk animation... Give your head a shake! It's funny. I used to Mod a forum for a game and every time the devs uploaded a new piece of clothing for the player avatars someone would complain that it was time taken away from fixing gameplay bugs. No matter how often we tried to explain that the coders working on gameplay didn't have anything to do with the graphic designers creating and uploading their work some players just couldn't/wouldn't get it.

BaBs, THANK YOU for the walk power. Whether I use it once or a thousand times, I am glad to see it added. You know, I used to make one of my toons follow the Longbow patrols as they walk around and it always bugged me that he walked too fast to look good following them. Problem solved!

[Edit] Woah, Accidental FPARN! 'cause that's how Master Roshi rolls.

Couldn't you just borrow some more off War Witch, or has she already used them all up writing the new Praetorian zone NPC text?

EDIT: This works with tarot buffs too. Buffs like Death, which increase debuff powers (including slow) will slow down your walk for all of a few seconds (up to the 10 that autos tick at). Once they wear off you resume normal speed, since Walk turns off your autos.
I think you've keyed in on the culprit. Thanks.

Well, why didn't those players use the time to improve bases then?

QR,

So this whole walk thing was done for the RP'ers?

Can the MM pet zoning feature be fixed "soon" for the PVE'ers?

Indeed, my affected MM has Pacing in Caltrops I think.

Heh, and here I thought all of BAB's sarcastic response would have been enough to explain that Animation Dept. projects aren't Code or Power Dept. projects.

But in case we all haven't understood this yet, well, there it is.

But if that doesn't work for you, then "the devs hate Mac users and Mastermind pets." Or whatever else you want to complain about that didn't get fixed/ added instead of Walking.

How about custom colors for VEATS or custom color options for power pool powers? What about an option for turning off/default colors the player sees? A feature I heard was in the pipeline.

I'm just suggesting that there are probably more important things to do than put in a walk feature.

But if it works for the RPers then cool.

The devs also clearly love RPers and hate HEATs and VEATs. Got it! We can all blame the RPers for not getting other things in the small add to the game. Curse you RPers! /e fist

Also: sarcasm

A solution for animating other problems away: /em coding. It looks like /em laptop, but it alternates between typing, shaking your head in disapproval at what you typed, and reaching up to grab your head from the headache that it's giving you.

Um, neither of those things would be something the animation guy is doing. Maybe if you wanted alternate animations for VEAT powers. Or a fancy double backflip for when you turn on the feature you mentioned. Otherwise, you need programmers/coders to change the powers to be recolorable, set them up to work with power customization, or change the display options so you don't see other people's colors... are you noticing how none of these things have to do with the way your character animates?

Maybe if you want a valid complaint you could say something like, "Damn you BABs, why aren't you making new dance emotes and hug emotes for us to use? Forget this pointless walking stuff. We need pointless dancing stuff." Or "Why aren't you adding alternate animations for Claws and Electric Melee? This is a valid, non-RP, PvE concern!"

Sorry, but I have to /facepalm at this.

This is something BaBs did Alongside ALL the other work he is doing at the moment, for GR and other issues!

He did this off his own back because he wanted to/made extra time for it!

I mean, jeese louise, sure things are broken in game at the moment, sure it would be nice if they were fixed, yes I've also ranted about things in the past. Bad stuff happens.
Why for the love of pete do people always bring out the 'Whine' list when something good, however small, comes out.

It could be worse. It could have been a big point of an ISSUE, not just a PATCH.
Mountain outuva molehill, hmmkay?

(If people want to -rep me for this, at least have the guts to put your name, hmm?)
