I think it might be free - like the graphics upgrade in CoV was free, even if you didn't buy CoV.

Hmm alright, thanks for clarifying the Rikti stuff, guess we'll just have to see!

Given that the Rikti were a peaceful race and only attacked Primal Earth because they believe the Freedom Phalanx attacked them, it is quite possible they would have a more benevolent relationship with other dimensions.

WHO CARES ABOUT THE RIKTI?
Really? Come on people... there is so much awesome in those screen shots why are you hung up on the stupid Rikti?

then i wondered... if someone has a cruddy computer do they see all the awesome that is in those screenshots?

And reflective water.

Question is, have they added dynamic lighting?

Note the last bullet point below:

  • Costume is reflective
  • I'm going to assume that everything is reflective
  • Minimum specs for the game won't change, and you can run Going Rogue without Ultra mode, but you can turn on Ultra mode with high-end video cards

Oh, and Crimson demands you play this arc-> Twisted Knives (MA Arc #397769)

At the opening of one of the Praetorian arc contacts, they explain that what they know of Praetorian Earth is that it's ruled by an evil version of the Freedom Phalanx and that, for a brief moment, they too were attacked by the Rikti. This is why the mission maps are mostly just the destroyed city ones (because Tyrant didn't care to rebuild the infrastructure).

Well that might have to be retconned now - Tyrant seems to have gone totally the other way, and wants a nice gleaming city to rule
I also think his throneroom mightn't be in a lava cave anymore, and his guards might be more impressive than street thugs with machine guns

Yeah, it looks like they are going from a Dr. Evil version of Tyrant and his world, to a more Facist Stepford Wives-type reality, showing the reality of what happens when "Justice and Order" go TOO far.

It's probably a personal attack as pointed out; the "Hellfire Whip" that BaB mentioned some time ago. I seem to recall it being mentioned that it was used for upgrading too...

Something else I thought of looking at the video - it looks like the AE buildings were designed with the GR graphics update very much in mind, with all the glass they have in them.

All of CoH/V will look like that. The Ultra-mode is just higher end video effects you can turn on (in advanced mode). And I assume Ultra will be a settings beyond the current high end Quality (simple) video setting. Praetoria will look extra awesome in ultra mode as all of the artwork is totally new for the new zones.

So if you're already running beautifully on max settings now, the new stuff should be no problem?

Maybe, maybe not. It's not a direct comparison, but some of the new ultra-mode stuff is in the rival MMORPG's client. Some of the settings makes my NVida 9900GT scream at me. Take that with a huge grain of salt as the rival mmorpg game engine was a total rewrite (and still has issues on people's high-end PC (aka low frame rate on "normal" settings).

But I would hazard a guess of yes as COH/V game client is very mature and stable. I'll try to ask a dev tomorrow about hardware specs needs to run Ultra-mode settings.

Fire whips, hot.
Fire whips for an MM sounds interesting because I expect a whip to have less range then a pulse rifle. This could mean that the new MM is more melee combat minded perhaps?

That's all very well. New, shiny graphics for those with higher end systems.

I have one of those higher end systems and the ONLY game it has issues with is COH.

So how much of our shiny new graphics update includes optimisation of the sluggish engine?

maybe, i got more of a minority report vibe from the seers. but again, i love how clean and organized the badguys are, my biggest gripe is when they do an "evil" world and its dark and depressing and covered with skulls and such. Once power is achieved, it would make more sense to use every outward appearance that things were better and would make the general populace happy than go around menacing people with a skull codpiece...though that is fun to wear at formal events at times.

You should have to read comics to play the game, or at least watch some of the films. Jeezus! Who was it didn't get the Green Goblin joke?

@craggy see me on Union for TFs, SFs (please!) or just some good ol fashioned teaming.
