Ahh thankyou, I had a feeling when Dual pistols was just listed as blaster/corrupter, but I just like speculating. xD

And, really, I don't recall BABs ever mentioning whips would be impossible. A lot of PLAYERS said that, but if BABs said anything at all (and I don't recall him commenting on it), it was more to the effect of "Won't happen. Too much work. Forget about it." Then again, I haven't seen a discussion about that since around I9-I10.
I believe what people are getting confused about is that it's been said (not sure if it was BaBs) that grappling and such powers that require sustained physical contact between two (or more) entities, such as, say a whip wrapping around an enemy's limbs, was impossible with the current engine.

There's nothing there to say that cracking whips on people wouldn't work. Especially if you can cover up the end with sexy fire.

Though I do have to say this is making me curious what AoE attack(s) Demon whips will have, and how the animations for those would work.

I think you'll find that's Rob Liefield.

Also it's clear who Tyrant actually is:

I believe the main issue was how the animations would interact with NPCS of non-standard shapes and/or sizes. The MM set will probably have some simple strikes, not the complicated stuff poeple would expect in a full set.

The issue with whips is that players and critters are cylinders (or possibly capsules), so wrapping a whip/chain around a target is infeasible. In a full whip set, people would expect at least one animation with the whip wrapping around the target. However, I'm willing to bet the three whip powers in the Demon Summoning set will basically be bullwhip strikes like the Hordelings' tongue.

They might be able to "cheat" with it, a bit like the shield charge animation - there could be a whip attack that pulls a target to you, like TP Foe, so you'd see the whip lash out at them, then maybe some sort of effect to disguise the contact, and then the target would zip over to you in the same way as the avatar moves from A to B in the shield charge attack.

Oh wait, a Dual Pistols powerset, a utopian city with underlying issues and a regime that polices the thoughts of its populace? I think it's clear which movie the Devs were inspired by when they came up with Going Rogue...

No complaints here!

Perhaps in the end of beta event the heroes/villains/others of Praetoria will have to fight off an invasion of GMs intent on genericing Emperor Cole.

In that case...

Tyrant holds a meeting in his palace, bue Neuron interrupts him...

TYRANT: Am I going to walk around and rip your ******* Clockwork down, in the middle of a meeting? Then why the **** are you walking right through? Ah-da-da-dah, like this in the background. What the **** is it with you? What don't you ******* understand? You got any ******* idea about, hey, it's ******* distracting having somebody walking up behind Mother Mayhem in the middle of the ******* meeting? Give me a ******* answer! What don't you get about it?

NEURON: I was looking at that Clockwork.

TYRANT: Ohhhhh, goooood for you. And how was it? I hope it was ******* good, because it's useless now, isn't it?

NEURON: Ok.

TYRANT: **** sake man, you're amateur. Marauder, you got ******* something to say to this ****?

MARAUDER: I didn't see it happen.

TYRANT: Well, somebody should be ******* watching and keeping an eye on him.

MARAUDER: Fair enough.

TYRANT: It's the second time that he doesn't give a **** about what is going on in the meeting, all right? I'm trying to ******* hold a meeting here, and I am going "Why the **** is Neuron walking in there? What is he doing there?" Do you understand my mind is not in the meeting if you're doing that?

NEURON: I absolutely apologise. I'm sorry, I did not mean anything by it.

TYRANT: Stay out of the ******* palace, man. For ***** sake. Alright, let's start again.

MARAUDER: Let's just take a minute.

TYRANT: Let's not take a ******* minute, let's start again.

TYRANT: I'm going to ******* kick your ******* *** if you don't shut up for a second! All right?

SEERS: Marcus, Marcus. It's cool.

TYRANT: I'm going to go... Do you want me to ******* go trash your Clockwork?
Do you want me to ******* trash 'em? Then why are you trashing my meeting?

NEURON: I'm not trying to trash your meeting.

TYRANT: You are trashing my meeting!

NEURON: Marcus, I was only...

TYRANT: You do it one more ******* time and I ain't staying in this palace if you're still here. I'm ******* serious. You're a nice guy. You're a nice guy, but that don't ******* cut it when you're ******* around like this at a meeting.

1984? Or any one of a thousand "Utopian society ruled by an evil dictator" scifi concepts out there?

"Get over here!" I like it.

Sad news about the HEATs and VEATS (well, I wasn't bothered about Khelds, but Rogue Arachnos would be BA) but it was expected.

@craggy see me on Union for TFs, SFs (please!) or just some good ol fashioned teaming.

You. Can. Still. Have. A. Rogue. A. Rach. Nos

You can't start EATs in Praetoria, but an EAT can still switch sides.

(I think I might add something like this as a sig for the next 6 months )

Yeah, I read the rest of the thread and came back to edit.
Still, that's better, kinda, I've already got a Pistols character in mind. Being able to switch my existing Epic ATs over to the other sides just means I can work on lvling up my current Spiders and Widows.

The glow is just the Standard flight effect:

That happened to me as soon as they started showing off the new graphics.
They simply amplified and got more frequent when they showed off Dual Pistols.

Wait ... how is that in any way shape or form related to Equilibrium? I'm confused.

Christian Bale is the link

A picture wa sposted of him from the movie to show how he looks like the concept art for Tyrant, so I just thought of Tyrant having a similar workplace attitude

Ohhh right. The Christian Bale rant. Gocha. I was seeing that picture and thinking more of the movie it's from than the actor specifically.

You know, I don't believe I've ever actually heard that rant, just heard about it. To forestall any possible linkage, I'm not terribly interested in hearing it either.

The sound quality isn't too good - reading a transcript gives just as good an idea of him building his Fury bar

It's (obviously) not impossible, but it has been EXTREMELY time consuming getting it to work. I believe the Dual Pistols animations took about 1/5th of the time that the Whip attacks have taken...and there were more animations required in that set!
