They can - but you can't start new ones in Praetoria.

At least we can finally have dual pistols on an AT that will actually use them.
A Whip e-mote for everyone was requested at the "Woudn't be great..." panel. The reasons for it being a fire whip was due to how to deal with the coiling and uncoiling of the whip in and out of combat. But Back Alley Brawler said that he would look into it and see what they could do.

Edit: Oh and couple of nice QoL changes that will in in the next issue (no idea when). The last 10% of enemies (for defeat all missions) and clickies will show on the mini-maps. And Hero1 will see about fixing old missions/contacts do they giving you their telephone number much, much sooners (perhaps after the first mission).

No. Any character at any level can switch sides at any time as many times as you wish. You can only start a core AT character in Praetoria. Before they come to Primal Earth they have to pick a side (Hero or Villain)

(Note: There is a minimum level for switching sides. But Positron wasn't saying what it was.)

Hmmm

Pretty similar indeed. Not exactly the same, but very similar in concept. Darn identical stance with raw fleshy bodies, spike protrusions, and a skull for a head.

In fairness, those concepts are very recent updates. They've gone through a number of itterations and those were done just last week. They don't reflect what might happen do them during the modeling process and they certainly don't reflect the additional auras and VFX that will go along with their various upgrades and buffs.

They won't be quite as bony/fleshy in the end.

Okay BaBs, fair enough
Can't wait to see how later iterations turn out. Fiery demon things ftw =D

Also, first after BaBs'n'Quoted

You know, I think this is a pretty good example of why the NC switchover and the creation of Paragon Studios was a good thing. Back in the old days, if we'd asked for a Demon Summoning Mastermind (and we did) we'd have gotten a few Fire Blast powers combined with Fire Imps, Behemoths and a Behemoth Overlord, possibly with Melt Armour at the end.

Well, these demons are most decidedly not that. Who cares if they look like Flesh Golems? They are completely new, really cool demons with a fire whip that don't recycle any of the current powers. And I LOVE it! Even before I've seen the things, I love the concept.

Has anyone mentioned that the Resistance look like heroic Freakshow?

They do? They looked like the inventor dwarves from Fantasy games to me.

Not much difference.

Also, that picture of Tyrant looks like Statesman's original costume.

...

That's the Fly VFX.

Absolutely not true, and I have no idea why you'd think that.

Issue 16 made me feel like this.

Probably because BaB has implied as much before. Prolly never said anything like those exact words, but it was implied that that particular type of movement would be difficult to animate.

Wow, might even get me back into the game.

Freakin' love it. Really hoping that there is some graphics optimization with the updated engine. The decision to have different types of ammo for Dual Pistols is an outstanding way to make it stand out from the rest. Well, aside from the totally awesome animations.

Ooooh so excited to begin the beta testing!

Which is odd, because Hordelings have had that tongue attack since I6, which solves a lot of the most difficult problems with such a thing, which is distance and accuracy.

And, really, I don't recall BABs ever mentioning whips would be impossible. A lot of PLAYERS said that, but if BABs said anything at all (and I don't recall him commenting on it), it was more to the effect of "Won't happen. Too much work. Forget about it." Then again, I haven't seen a discussion about that since around I9-I10.

And funny enough I don't recall him saying anything on it EVER.

Just a lot of players requesting it.

But he can correct us all as usual if he likes.

Whew. Ok good. Seeing how I play the Epic Archtypes more often than the core ones.

I can live with a minimum level for switching sides. As long as I can take my Bane to Atlas Park, I'm good!

Haven't you heard of Power Proliferation? They gotta save something to give us in future issues.

I rather like the demons as they are, TBH. For some reason I just see that demon in the middle getting the lvl6 upgrade and his horns pop up to become the demon on the right.
Two questions for you BaBs: Are there any plans to apply this "pick your damage" fun to other sets like swords (poison blades y/y) and, most importantly:

What's the recommended spec for a graphics card that will run Ultra Mode well? Model or numbers please, not just "top of the line w/SLI." A lot of us are budgeting for new rigs after that keynote video and we need to know.

"Personal attack power: Flaming whip"

SOLD! ( I would request customization to at least make it a flaming chain whip, though. Would so totally fit one of my characters I'll have to reroll for the set anyway. )
