Official Forum Feedback Thread
I'd really like to be able to see the subforums from the outer-most level. Allow me to expand and contract the lists of subforums like you can with the different language forums.
Secondly, I'm having the exact same problem that I had when Exteel moved its forums over to the new boards. My avatar doesn't work any more.
The link to my avatar is here: http://premium1.uploadit.org/Vitamin...PhoneSmall.PNG
The forums won't recognize it as valid since "PNG" is capitalized, but the link is wrong if you make it lowercase. Please fix this by making extensions non-case-sensitive.
Third: The dev digest is broken (html doesn't get rendered) and none of the links work.
Also:
I am not happy with the lack of info telling me that I have to use my game info to log into the forums. Took me a while to figure out my handle and password so I could log in, just as a lark I tried my game account info and it worked. Advance warning of this info would have been much appreciated. |
Are all replies a "Quick Reply" a la the old forums now?
Edit:
Man, the pages take a long time to load.
Teams are the number one killer of soloists.

I think the forum looks a lot cleaner, but there is a bit too much wasted space in my opinion. The "last post" feature on the overview should lose some of that empty space and be given some more room for text. Also, I would lose the large gap between posts in the thread views.

One odd bug I've noticed; sometimes when I try to use the spellchecker the forum pops me out of spellchecking mode spontaneously.
Really? No noticeable delay here.
Arc #40529 : The Furies of the Earth
The naming thing kills any excitement for me. The colour scheme doesn't help, but that bleeding suffix I got stuck with makes me not want to see my board handle.
Yeah, so apparently another guy over on the Euro servers apparently was just as uncreative as myself and referenced the same meteorological phenomenon for their board handle. Someone with zero posts to their name, I should add. Which now leaves me stuck with that bleeding _NA at the end of my handle. Which I am very much not happy with for a variety of reasons.
One, 'NA' makes me think of 'not available'. I'd like to however assure the ladies of the CoH forums that I am very much available and up for pretty much anything.
On a less serious note (which is probably item two), while I play on the North American servers, I'm still German and living in Germany, which makes me think the NA label is wholly inappropriate to me. Yes, I realize it's only meant to indicate server clusters of origin. But it's not how it parses in my mind.
Most importantly, item three, it's plain not the name I chose. If I wanted a suffix of any sort, I'd have added one when I signed up 25 years ago. It's a text-based environment, handles are the only unique identifiers and first indicators of personality available to us.
I'm not gonna bother with being humble. Even if it's not the greatest handle in the world, it's mine, I'm pretty sure I've had it since the bleeding CoH Beta boards and I'm not gonna share with a guy who doesn't need any handle cause he doesn't post or maybe isn't even around anymore.
Please hurry up with that promised fix, cause typing through gritted teeth appears to be harmful to my fingers.

And can we have a link after the last post in a thread to return to the index?
When I've finished reading a thread I now have to go all the way back up to the top of the page to return to the thread index.
I know it's minor, but it was a nice QoL feature on the old boards.
Brothers!
Sisters!
Americans! Europeans!
People from across the oceans!
We are now united.
There are no more canyons between us. We can all share the fruit of knowledge. There will be no arbitrary boundaries preventing good debate between both equally important parts of the community.
And with vBulletin, I can do cool stuff like this.
Necrobond - 50 BS/Inv Scrapper made in I1
Rickar - 50 Bots/FF Mastermind
Anti-Muon - 42 Warshade
Ivory Sicarius - 45 Crab Spider
Aber ja, natrlich Hans nass ist, er steht unter einem Wasserfall.

The dev digest is broken and is showing HTML code.
The avatars being 100x100 instead of 80x80 is going to throw some people off, including anyone that uses City Info Tracker, at least unless/until they adjust it (I'm glad I made myself a couple sizes of mine already). Also, having the left 80%ish of the avatar box filled with gray makes transparent avatars look funny.
The background being a sort of dark teal instead of black is starting to get annoying, and it's less readable than white-on-black or black-on-white.
In the forum index, the big star icons next to each forum are about twice as large (in each direction) as they need to be, making the page much taller (needing more scrolling) than it ought to be.
Emoticons (and post icons) were designed for white or light backgrounds and show an ugly light "halo" around their black outline. They need to be re-edited (I can do this myself later tonight if I get bored enough, or there are probably a godzillion other icon sets out there that don't have this problem).

The options for disabling images are under User CP, you can individually turn off avatars, sigs, and some third option (in-post pics?)
|
The options (enable/disable for all):
Show Signatures
Show Avatars
Show Images (including attached images and images in [IMG] code)
I just saw that my EU counterpart has zero posts as well. Hopefully they'll give us priority, since our counterparts clearly don't care about posting on the forums.

One more and we can form a lynch mob. Shame it's 1 AM over here and I have no idea where to get a pitchfork from at this time of night. Come to think of it I wouldn't know where to get one during the day either.

I'd like to know, from the main menu, where the new threads are. Also, I'd like the ability, at user CP, to turn off graphics, that way those who want to see them can and those who don't can turn them off.
Also, I'd like you to poke the Euros. Poke 'em with a stick.

Subjective Feedback:
As someone who's moderated and administrated for some big vBulletin forums in the past, I must seriously question the decision to leave the following features activated:
- Images in posts
- Images in signatures
- Reputation points
Images in signatures are also nothing more than big ol' "LOOK AT ME!" signs, and are entirely extraneous. If you do plan on allowing them, however, I suggest a staunch limit on both dimensions and image size, so as to avoid people posting banners with large animated bits in them.
Reputation points ... well, they're just evil. Quality of posts and the contributions a user makes to the community should be the measure of their reputation, not little green or red dots that can be added or taken away for any reason whatsoever with a single click. If nothing else, I beg that the Rep system is disabled! Do you remember what happened on the old boards when we could rate users? Do you?
Positron: "There are no bugs [in City of Heroes], just varying degrees of features."
Testing...just seeing there's a _NA by my name.

Please get rid of the grey background behind the avatars. It eliminates the transparent images that we use. Other than that it will take some getting use to.

My Suggestions:
Make http://boards.cityofheroes.com/forumdisplay.php?f=547 the default.
Redo the emoticons to either be PNGs (making the backgrounds blend correctly) or redo them to work with the background. (or create an option that we can use custom emoticons)
Remove the ability to have images in the signatures.
That's all I've found so far. The page takes a long time to load, but that's probably just because everyone is on the forums.
