Serves me right for quick reply!

I'm aware of this. If you would, allow me the leeway of it being shorthand for "it appears NCSoft has decided to shift priorities, resulting in the loss of the Paragon Studios devs and who knows what impact on the virtualized server farm". Does anyone know if the priority shift has impacted CoH server monitoring to even notice a problem? Probably not but a possibility. Does anyone know if the server folks have been told to devote the majority of their time to GW2 servers and if there is a CoH problem its to be put at the bottom of the to-do list? I don't know the answers to these questions and suspect nobody else here does either. And while the risk might be minor it seems a largely unjustified risk, is NCSoft going to have a change of heart because we're *increasing* maintenance tasks for them? IMO, virtually no chance of a positive impact with even a small chance of a very large negative impact (Virtue potentially down for who knows how long) isn't worth the risk.
  2. I'm not sure what people where thinking when this event was planned in the first place. "Lets overload a shard and crash it when there are no devs left to hit the reset switch!"?

Maybe there is someone on the skeleton crew who'll reset it on monday. Perhaps some kind soul will even fix it over the weekend. But in the situation we're in I'd be concerned the odds were equally likely the shard wouldn't come back until maintenance thursday. If you're lucky.
  3. I'd be curious to see some datamining on how (in)frequently boxing/kick are used. For that matter, on how often these powers even end up in the power tray.

EDIT: Challenge from the Presence pool was deemed so bad the devs were willing to break the cottage rule to make it useful. The reason for its lack of utility? The ATs likely to dip into this power pool already have access to a better choice in their primary, the other ATS have little to no need for an aggro magnet. Boxing/Kick seem to fit that same lack of utility, meatshields going into Fighting for access to Tough/Weave already have plenty of superior attack choices, the squishies don't need a mediocre melee attack when they're seeking damage mitigation.

I'd see this argument as more for making Boxing/Kick actual worthwhile choices and less about skipping them entirely. The I24 changes look like a step in the right direction but I suspect those 2 powers would need even more of a boost to become desirable options.
  4. I was wondering what the heck was up with my fire/therm troller occasionally triggering the nuke costume change emote in the middle of combat. Now I know!

/and knowing is blah blah blah...
  5. My first thought was "go stock up on the Kismet +6% acc" IOs but I suspect there is another round of blaster changes that will lessen if not outright remove the large appeal of these items.

    Just guessing, could be wrong.

If so, to facilitate discussion how about you post screenshots of your Tombstone, Havoc, Sentinel, Wildcat, and Apocalypse characters so we can get a feel of how unjustly the genericizations were in your case?

It sounds condescending while vague enough in its intentions and target I just don't know. Are you commenting on Posi's advancement in the organization or my critique of his badge handling? Something else? Or would you prefer your forum drive-by remain vague?

See, I'd say this is the same old Positron we've always known. The lowly developer who was in charge of badges before stepping into the driver's seat, the one who didn't want pre-Issue1 characters to have any opportunity to get the Isolator badge despite being rolled before badges were available. The one who said if it ever were made available it'd be made silly-difficult to get just to spite us, then did indeed make it available in Recluse's Victory via singleton spawns on a 1 hour timer. The one who balked at our early requests for badge lists to be organized in some sensible manner instead of the random mess it used to be because it *was* organized to him, in his excel files.

Posi has historically been... non-customer-service driven when it comes to badges. It always felt to me like this was his little fiefdom, that badges were a toy of his we're allowed to play with under his careful supervision, not a service offered to the playerbase.
  9. I swear I've read this thread before. Oh yeah, it reminds of the oldschool scrapper threads of folks bragging about their regens soloing multiple AVs. When I piped up that my SR scrapper couldn't get past +2 bosses without a bucket of inspirations I was told "simple solution, roll a regen".

And I've little doubt the same general outcome is going to happen, outliers are going to get swatted down. It might be some time before the devs get around to it but they always do eventually, much to the chagrin of regen tankers and other equivalents (15 fire imps comes to mind).

Everyone has their twitch topics, this IT goob can't make it more that a coupla minutes into Sandra Bullock's The Net without seeking pointed utensils to jab into my eyes/ears.
  11. I understand the opinion that customization options for power pools and epic pools be completed as part of the original free power customization project, and I share the frustration with how often it seems projects in CoH are taken to 90% completion then abandoned.

But... the realist in me predicts that there are two potentialities here - we demand pool customization for free and it never gets done, or we accept it as a Paragon Store purchasable upgrade and it might get done. I'll grudgingly accept the latter. Heck, not even that grudgingly. I was one of the sillyheads that put down 800 points for a leprechaun that is entirely possible I'll never use, I'd be more than willing to put down the same points (or more) for customization options I'd use on every single one of my 60+ alts.
  12. If in doubt, the rings pieces.

I'd rather have one costume design that is a perfect fit than a half-dozen uses that are close but not quite right. Wouldn't be the first time I bought a costume pack that ended up on a single costume out of 60+ alts.
  13. There are a few sets that I'm disinclined to play in the foreseeable future, not that I consider them particularly poor sets but just that I've taken them to L50 once and they don't feel like they'd have much "replay value" compared to others. I like my kin melee scrapper but it will likely be a long time before I roll another one.

The set I refuse to touch until its revamped is /devices. Its not a well-constructed set, made all the worse by being a poor fit for my personal playing style.

    SG is calling!

I've often used "my SG calls" as shorthand for "my SG has a scheduled event which I happily agreed on our forums to attend starting in 10 minutes, its been a pleasure teaming with you these past few missions but need to hop over to Pocket D now."

Some of the folks in this thread are a little over-eager to assume the worst, that either the player thinks the team sucks so is gracefully bowing out, or that the player's SG leader is an evil overlord demanding immediate tribute. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

    Copy Tool Down?

Could the Training Room work priorities be tied together such that when we're asked to test something, the character copy tool is available for us to facilitate that testing?

I understand your saying they have different priorities right now but perhaps that is a business practice that needs changing.
  16. I would be fine seeing pool customization being a store purchase. People who are fine with the existing setup can keep going about their business, the people who really want it (including myself) can finance the work. My namesake firing dark-red bolts of energy and protecting herself with a bright blue Personal Force Field is a constant annoyance.

But however its to be done, it needs to be done. I'm hopeful the devs will eventually listen to our reasonable request of powerset customization be completed instead of left hanging in limbo.

    East Coast Quake

    Blacksburg VA here.

I thought the wifey had overloaded the washer again when my desk started to rock back and forth. It dissipated rapidly and being half-asleep I didn't think much of it. Then I quickly started getting VT Alerts reporting the event. If one good thing came from the 4/16 shootings is the fire it lit under VT administration to get an rapid response emergency warning system up and running el pronto. Unlikely there was much in the way of damage at this distance but all the schools are being inspected this evening just to be sure.

Know a coupla DCers who were evacuated after their buildings were discovered to have suffered minor but concern-causing damage.

  20. As much as this costume altaholic would love to add the ascension pieces to my collection the cost is just too prohibitive. I wouldn't have given a second thought to laying down real money for the pieces but asking me to choose between purely cosmetic items and actually making my harem of alts more useful to my team/league/SG is asking too much.

Sorry, art team - would have loved to wear your cool new stuff but they've been priced off the market

I saw that image but have no context towards what I'm looking at, what is it intended to be? Loading screen? New costume creator interface?
  22. I'll just add this... in recent memory I was pulled away from the keyboard during an ITF run to bandage a wounded child in the household, left my character standing at the start of the final mission. Came back 15min later to find the team merrily beating upon Rommie, my character dead at the door... and a shiny new purple recipe drop as I'm sitting down in my chair.

If the claim is you must be near the team and must make the killing blow, my experience disproves that. And it only takes a single counter-example to kill an Absolute.

This player is putting forth so much inaccurate information I suspect we have a forum performance artist on our hands.
