East Coast Quake
Yep, that was weird! I was wondering what the hell it was, figuring surely it couldn't be a quake! But, the map says it was real! Anyone in the DC/Richmond area? Must have been nasty over there... I can't imagine many buildings are designed to resist quakes in those parts!

Anyone else just feel the quake that hit the east coast? Epicenter was in VA, something around 5.8. Felt it up here in NYC.
I know this is standard fare for you West Coast folks, but very unusual here. |

I live just south of Toronto, and just felt something that was enough to make me go "I think we just had an earthquake." My puppy wasn't thrilled about the event, though.

Sartre once said, "Hell is other people." What does that make an MMO?
It shook us up a bit, knocked some stuff off the walls, but at least for us just south of Richmond it didn't do any real damage. It was about 15-20 seconds of solid shaking, then it faded. Then again, my family and I are originally from LA, so all this does is make us homesick.
We'll always have Paragon.

Something readily identifiable as an earthquake is quite odd though.

My Grandmother in Raleigh NC said she could feel tremors from it. Wonder how many people freaked and thought they were being nuked.

Still waiting to hear from my wife in Silver Spring. (EDIT: Whew, wife called, her building was evac'd and everyone's okay.)
Stay safe, people.

North Carolina here and we had some moderate tremors for a minute or two. Not bad enough in this area to cause any damage, just freak people and pets out a little.
Plymouth MA here, felt it pretty good for a bit.

My Twitter feed lit up like the Fourth of July the moment it happened...I saw reports from as far south as North Carolina all the way up into Southern Michigan.
My former Coworkers back in Fairfax, VA claim to have had a wild ride...I can only imagine as some of our offices were on the 8th floor!

in western pa we had small rumblings..frankly i thought my dog was just shaking the floor with its feet. hope those that got the full effect stay safe.
Central New York State noticed it too...Or at least I did. Kinda weird having things sway a little bit...especially since I don't drink.
First reports of the devastation hitting the Eastern Seaboard are just now coming in...
My heart goes out to those affected.
