hmmm you seem to believe I was...not looking at something that was in plain and obvious sight right?

From the view of those of us playing the game there was very little to indicate our game, let alone the studio developing for the game, was anywhere near the chopping block. No cut back in development resources that we could see. Continued hiring for the studio as far as we could tell. Constant pleasure and happiness from those working on the game glad to be bringing us new and exciting stuff. Obviously we should have been expecting the game to be cut off, right?

Yes people quoting the numbers are correct....less money was coming in compared to earlier in the game's lifespan. I do believe that is a rather common occurance in all games though...as the game goes on people leave to try other things. It has even happened to the juggernaut of the MMO world. The only possible indication I might have seen that said CoH was going away was being unable to get a Time Card from Gamestop in mid-August...and that's happened before so I didn't really think anything of it.
  2. It's very easy to miss that which was not visible.
  3. I have tried not to miss these but sometimes work interferes. Though I have today off I am not sure I will see this one today if they have one. It might be the one thing that finally tips me over the edge then I'm stuck looking at a clear yet blurry screen. Then again how could I not watch...and support...these fine people that have brought me so many years of fun?

Now that the end has come, you will need to really gear up and build that plan. It will have to be a plan focusing on the future, using newer technologies and game engine as well as the knowledge and experience you have earned from the first City of Heroes to build and create the sequel we all need and desire.
Kind of hard for Paragon Studios to work on anything when they don't exist as a unit anymore. The Studio is gone...kaput...finished....Not a functional device....The instruments are there but the band isn't around to play them. Any posts you see here now from a Redname are them showing up on their own time to try and help their fans and perhaps even themselves through the coming shutdown. And actually tell you the truth I neither needed or desired a sequel. Cith of Heroes as it was and how it was going was good enough for me....and good enough for my girlfriend too. We are going to miss it when/if it is gone. Yeah I said if.....Hope might prolong the pain but hope is eternal also.
  5. Wow...Woke up to find this and am surprised...Actually got a code that worked.

    Thanks alot folks.
  6. She's Escape. If things start to go bad for the new DC world she'll be the one to set them back on the right path. If things go well she'll "escape" and disappear from the new worldset perhaps with some kind of comment about "Now they will be ready...for the future...."

I really shouldn't comment since I haven't bought or read a new comic in many years now and didn't read much DC even back then. This DC reset though hasn't made me want to get back into them all that much though. Perhaps it's all because of what others have said....Too many major multi-book events.
  7. Not sure about that show at all really. Yeah dinosaurs are cool and all (I used to have lots of books about them back when I was a young kid.) but it just seems a little too odd for me. Just seems that space travel would be easier to develop than punching a time-space wormhole 85 million years into the past.

Might just have a give the first episode a view to see what's what though.

    East Coast Quake

Central New York State noticed it too...Or at least I did. Kinda weird having things sway a little bit...especially since I don't drink.
  9. Well...There goes a little more money this month. *L*
  10. How many pets do most Controllers get anyways? One isn't it? And that one pet is way back at the end of the power progression scale. They spend most of their time just locking things in place..not really studying the precise control of "Hey Fry, Smolder, Burn...Go torch Recluse.". The Mastermind on the other hand is starting off at the begining giving orders to his small group of individuals (in most cases)...makes more sense that the Mastermind will have a better idea of what they are doing in terms of precision.
  11. *wanders in on one of his rare appearances*

Howdy folks.....ummm....Is it me or is something different?

*tilts his head slightly and studies the area carefully*

hmmmm trans-dimensional misstep perhaps?? Seems to be a slightly askew reality from the one I normally observe.

    Origins

Any idea can be used by almost any origin if you think it through. Let's take this supposed "Magic Wand" animation change for example. You say it's a magic wand so it fits the magic origin.

I could have a tech character that would like the same animation though. After all he designed his Ultra-Rod(tm) to have the appearance of a normal stick of wood but due to his Nanite Fusion Reactor(tm) is able to fire bolts of pure fire at his foes.

Or I could have a mutant character that is only able to use his force projection abilites though a focusing agent like oh let's say a normal stick of wood. This type of character actually exists (or at least used to..been a while since I'ver read many comics.) in the Marvel Universe. "Black Tom" Cassidy was a mutant able to project energy blasts through wood and usually carried a shillelagh with him at all times.

I think origins work best the way they are now. They have little effect on the game itself but allow you the chance to identify your character as you see fit.

One can't help but wonder if you realize that there are some "veterans" of the game that have been playing for perhaps even longer than you that may not have even gotten a 50 yet. It might be a small number but there are people in that situation for whatever reason they have. This is in no way an insult to anyone that plays or will play the game. The decision to unlock the EATs earlier is just a choice the devs made to make it easier is all. They probably thought there would be some that would be a little upset like you but they have to do what they feel is right for their game that they run.

Personally I applaud their decision and think it is a good thing. Before you ask yes I do have a lvl 50 both hero and villain-side andI still think it's a good thing.

    canon check

The opening of Pandora's Box by Cole and Richter did basically spark the most recent surge of meta-human activity, at least from the book's standpoint. From what I remember of the book the box had been opened at least once before around the time the Furies were born/created leading to the monsters and myths from that time also.

Just speculating here but Pandora's Box seemed to have been a kind collection or filtering agent that collected and stored an unknown type of energy that allowed meta-abilities to florish. The real question is since the box was apparently destroyed by Stefan in the most recent opening will the "energies" be able to recollect and spawn a distant future generation of meta-mythology or is the present the last great age of the unusual.
  15. As many have said many time before I do not believe there is a need for a server merger. Of course I tend to run solo or in small groups so I don't really need alot of folks around me so I might be slightly biased. I do know though if for some reason a server like, oh let's say Infinity, got merged with any other I would be quite unhappy, maybe unhappy enough to just leave the game completely.

I have characters on every server...two of those servers completely full and one overfull thanks to free slots. Infinity is one of the full ones with characters both hero and villianside. All my heroes plus some from a few friends are in one super-group and all my villians are in their own group. Merge servers and I'm losing alot of time and effort unless they are able to move the groups also. Merge the servers and I'm either losing a few characters or the game is forcing me to split up those heroes and villians that have been working together and against each other for so long.

I seriously doubt that I am the only one that would be in such a situation so I will have to politely decline any thought to a server merge.
  16. Wizards and magic and dragons oh my!

Just remember be careful around faerie dragons. They are quite mischievous and one never knows what may happen when they are around.

By the way greetings to all.
  17. Wheel of Fortune?? I can't use that spell...playing blue and green right now.

    Sorry...Bad joke. *L*

    Howdy all.
  18. This sounds familiar....even in the same voice I believe.

The extra xp one can get on a team is all the incentive that is needed. People are going to do their own thing and that's their choice. No reason to get upset by people doing what they want to do when they want to do it...be it hanging out in the D or just asking for a few extra minutes to take care of something.
  19. *wanders in and throws some furniture on the fire*

Oh wait....It's not a bonfire of the vanities is it?

    Morning folks. Have fun.
  20. Even on Virtue outside the D you can get a little grief for RPing. Happened to me once even. Felt a little like talking on one of my characters and started up a little conversation near the tram in Talos. A very "friendly" fellow kept sending me "nice" little messages wondering why I was rolepaying in public.

Ah well I had fun with the talk and ignoring the "nice" little comments. Personally I just think you should let people play how they want where they want as long as they are not being rude, crude or totally disruptive.
  21. *chuckles* One knows quite well what to expect within this place. Quiet I may be but observations I have done quite often. On occasion I drift through just to get a smile and say howdy but soon enough I shall return to my silent lurking.

Interesting idea but once again I would have to disagree. Anything of that nature would have to be added by devs/GMs and makes things look more "official". Virtue may have been decided upon as the unnofficial RP server by those that started way back in the begining but you can role-play on any server. The other problem would be actually coming up with the tags to list. There are some that would label Virtue as "Poser Central" or "lol catgirls in heat" after all.

Not all people already on a server actually fit neatly under what some would consider the "comunity standard" type labels. I have characters on all severs (Three of them full and one (Virtue) overstuffed) and I don't fit under "Drunk" label I have seen attached to one server (Which one was that again?). Better to let people to come to their own conclusions by visting the servers themselves or perhaps even checking with the forums here.
  23. Hobbits. Amusing creatures they are although they can be a little too quiet sometimes....and small too. Always getting into place they shouldn't be. Well at least the few adventerous ones you might see about.

Oh...hello everyone. Hope all are having fun.
  24. Honestly I believe an "Official" RP server does not need to exist. A person can log into any server as it is and play out their role however they wish. If you start to designate things officially then you have to start catering to more people's demands. There will be those that demand an "Official" PvP server if the role-players get their own place. There will be people on Virtue (or what-ever server is chosen as "Official") that will feel that they do not belong since it's now "Official" and they do not role-play like others do if at all. There will be people on the other servers who will now be able to "Go to Offical server dumby rper noob." or however it is those L33t types talk. *chuckle*

Nah...can't really see a need for an official server. No need to tie up GM with checking wether "Lord Fizzlebum" is an actual role-player or not in the vein of the game universe. Maybe if such a thing was included in the begining of the game it would have worked but not now.
  25. In a game where you have the ability to create a wide variety of characters it does not seem right to punish those that want to create those characters. Perhaps that is not what was meant when this inf. degradation was suggested but to some that is how it would appear.
