  1. My defender used to be able to during Issue 4, does that count? >_<
  2. Okay, so I've got an Earth/Time Controller at level 36 right now. He is a proc monster. He does effectively zero damage without procs, but oh so much delicious damage with them. I have envisioned meat-grinder builds before, but only now have I realized one. One power I've been wondering about is Volcanic Gasses.

On the one hand, the long recharge time makes it an unappealing place to put procs. On the other, the way the power works could make any procs placed in it super effective. I'm not so sure about that, though.

So how do procs work in Volcanic Gasses? Is it still just the once per 10 seconds, or do the multiple pseudo-pet spawns caused by the power increase that frequency?
  3. I'm not "still around" so much as I am back from a year or so off. I have no idea what I'm doing. So much has changed. I'm an oldbie and what is this...

It's as if you either read my mind or remembered the things that bothered me.

Thanks for the welcome back, folks! I'm glad to be here once again. It has been far too long.

    WOAH!

    WOAH, WOAH, WOAH!

A damage bonus in Vigilance? I was NOT here for that. I am tickled pink by that! I love that so much. Now I can maybe feel like I'm not simply left in the dust by my Corruptor.

I've got a Rad/Dark Corr and a Dark/Rad Defender. Both have been at lvl 50 for years, and I basically stopped playing my Defender once my Corr got up there. This might make me feel better about that now.

I don't even remember that having been an issue >_>

I would've thought that that would be one thing that carried over between archetypes since none of the pseudo-pets were redone.

So really, they didn't touch anything with the power sets. I suppose they wouldn't, seeing how they weren't really broken or anything.

Also, by the looks of it, not many people on this board speak the good word of Fruit Salad any more. It's a shame, really.
  7. 1. Corruptor
    2. Defender
    3. Warshade
    4. Everything Else
  8. See, the problem with people wanting a swinging power is that they want a swinging power that works regardless of where you are, a swinging power with no restrictions.

The game already has this. It's called "flight". The only difference between flight and the swinging power people want is the animation.

It's me.* I'm back.* Thought you should know.*

So tell me: Did they touch Dark Miasma? Did they touch Rad Blast? Did they touch any of my babies while I was away?

Besides incarnate powers, about which I have read, what has changed with defenders since issue 16? Are Corruptors still better?

*If you remember me, that is.

No, they have not. Not while the game's been released, anyways.

Defenders did get a sizable endurance discount on their secondary powers in Issue 2, though. I think it cut their endurance costs by 33% or some similar number.
  11. Yeah, Trigun takes a very drastic and turn halfway through. The first half of it is bubbly and fun. The second half is rather serious.

    Good memories :P
Heck yeah, those were the days. If you got enough enemies with it, a fun little error message would pop up in-game. I forget exactly what it said, but it was an indicator that the game rolled over and died on you.

The original sound effect was very much like that of Siphon Power without the high-pitched bits.

    Just to be sure.

But yeah, the -def values on pretty much all of the Rad Blast powers are completely huge.

  16. Most of the bugs I've got screenshots of are the boring sort that are basically just pictures of combat logs. Like that time Twilight Grasp was healing me twice, but only if I was moving backwards at a fast pace and only sometimes. I could never reliably reproduce it, but it was very strange.

    Regardless:

    ELEVATOR PARTY!

    Whoops!

Actually, they got new tech that allows powers to affect intangible, so it would no longer have to be so sloppy. The intermittent phasing thing was said back during the days of Geko. I...used to complain about it a lot. A lot of it was from us not knowing the details of how it worked. Nobody had bothered to divine its hidden machinations.
  18. Rebuild is going very well so far, I must say. There is, so far, less moping going on. Also, Ramiel is all kinds of awesome.

The original series end was very abstract. Fans didn't like it since nobody could understand what actually happened (the last episode happened inside a character's mind). Anno said he'd redo it (after much complaining and even some death threats), but that we weren't going to like it. It then went from abstract to outright weird and left us with an ambiguous ending to argue about. Seriously, YOU try and make sense of this (spoilers, not that you'd understand what's happening). Yes, that song actually plays during the ending.

I don't expect that Rebuild will end in any less of an ambiguous fashion, but I am hoping it'll make a bit more sense on the whole.
  19. Yeah, Gravity Control is the set that stands to benefit the most from the temporary dismissal of the cottage rule. A lot of powers need to be shuffled around, and a few need changing completely. Most importantly, it needs to have a good power at level 12.

Level 12 is usually that magic level that brings with it a game-changing power for your character. Having Dimension Shift there is just a huge lump of disappointment.

Then again, having Dimension Shift anywhere is a huge lump of disappointment. Dimension Shift and Black Hole, especially, are simply not good powers. Black Hole is only worse because it's in the same set as Fearsome Stare, a power that serves the same role but does it so much better.

Also, for the argument with the -def from Rad Blast: It's worthwhile to note that the -Def on most Rad Blast powers is hugely overblown (especially for Defenders). Unless something has a lot of resistance to the debuff, your blasts will tear its defense to shreds.

No, you won't need to. It's like what they did with Macross: They had a great story, finished it, then found they had to make 10 more episodes.
  21. Verbal Kint is Kayser Sose
    Darth Vader is Luke's Father
The guy in Memento killed his own wife
Tyler Durden is his other personality
The aliens are allergic to water
    It's people
    It's plants
Man is the most dangerous game

There, I've covered most of it, so let's stop with the spoilers now, shall we?

Well the thing is that it's not outright H. Think of it like a disaster movie that has a sex scene for some reason. It's there, but that's hardly the point of it. I know of a few visual novel games that kind of suffer the same fate(/stay night).

Hold on, what's wrong with the bolded ones?

They're good anime (well, Deathnote's good until LADIES, but still). Just because they're "mainstream" or something doesn't make them bad, nor does liking them mean I can't enjoy things like Kino's Journey or Princess Tutu as well.

Go push your judgment on other people. We don't want it.
  25. I have to add my +1s and new suggestions. First, the +1s:

    Gurren Lagann
    Neon Genesis Evangelion
    Gunbuster
Fullmetal Panic! (including Fumoffu and Second Raid)
    Trigun
    Kiddy Grade
    Death Note
    Kino's Journey
    Ergo Proxy
    Last Exile
    FLCL
    Excel Saga
    The Meloncholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
    Otaku No Video
    Princess Tutu
    Welcome to the NHK
    Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni
    Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei
    Azumanga Diaoh!
Read or Die OVA (so much better than The TV)
    Macross
    Voices of a Distant Star

Second, things I've not seen mentioned:

Shigofumi (drama) - an interesting tale about interesting things. I don't know how else to describe it, really : /

Shakugan no Shana (action/drama) - awesome fun for the whole family! Second season is disappointingly more sappy.

Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha (more action/drama than anything) - more awesome fun for the whole family!

Gankutsuou (action/drama) - The Count of Monte Christo...IN SPACE! An excellent retelling from the perspective of Albert Morcef.

Mahoromatic (comedy) - shameless Gainax comedy!

Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro Chan (comedy) - as violent as it is hilarious.

Cat Soup (art, it goes into no other category) - artistic art!
