I've got so spoiled by CoH. Are there even any other MMOs out there that even have all or even most of of:
- Level syncing, up and down (I think FFXI, does, but...)
- Ability to do most content either teamed or solo (without making the solo option stupidly tedious)
- Build flexibility (what if I don't want to make a cookie cutter FOTM?)
- Team flexibility (not everyone likes the tank/heal/DPS trinity, especially when you have to spend an hour searching for whichever is missing)
-
Sigh... and once again this happens while I'll be out of town. Seriously, I only leave 2, maybe 3 weekends a year, but at least half the 2XP weekends seem to happen when I do. Maybe next time...

Quote:Back about... hm, a bit over 8 years agoThere's a tunnel linking Atlas Park and Steel Canyon. It's quite possible that the author thinks that's something like a 'next' zone.
I didn't know about the tram. I finished up my origin's Atlas arc and was told to go to KR. I look at the map and see the route is Atlas -> Skyway -> Kings. So I spend the next hour trying to get across Skyway with no travel power and at a level where everything there kills me in one or two hits. Having come from games like EQ1, I saw nothing wrong with this.

I'll add more at some point, but...
We really need a checkbox to have the costume creator NOT disable options it thinks might clip.
For example, having a jacket with sleeves disables most of our glove options. However, if we choose short sleeves, then they wouldn't even come close to clipping, but we still can't choose big gloves.
It's nice that the creator tries to keep some of the more obvious clipping issues from happening, but it would be nice to be able to override it for situations like that where its blocking too much, or even to create interesting combinations from the clipping. I don't care if you make it pop up a half dozen strong warnings when we try, I just want to have the option there.
Edit:
One other thing - the pre-tinted gold in some of the recent pieces (Imperial Dynasty, Elemental Order jacket) isn't a color available to us, making it really annoying to try to have other costume bits match it. The gold used is partway between some of our yellow/orange options, but doesn't quite match anything we can pick. -
Quote:OK, you already mentioned that "regular" purples and PVP IOs are each their own "rarity" despite both showing as "very rare" (which I totally understand and agree with).1 token to convert a Set IO into another, random, enhancement of the same rarity
What about the separate categories of Rare IOs? For example, will a rare from the "Mission End" pool have a chance to change to one from the "Rare Enemy Drop" pool, or vice versa, or only into another from the same drop pool?
And are these usable on recipes, the crafted enhancements, or either? -

Quote:Yeah, pretty much this."Look guys, here's a level 10-20 mission - but if you run it at 15, you're an idiot."
IMO a much better way to do this would be to allow you to get alignment merits without requirement as before so you can at least not worry about things like this, but only allow entry into Fort Trident / Crucible if you have the Gallant / Dastardly badge. Heck, if nothing else they can put the bin behind a door that checks for the badge, similar to the door in Pocket D for the VIP lounge there (since it's proven they have the tech for a door badge check). -
My (not very serious) guess:
Everyone dies except Manticore and BAB.
Dark Watcher shows up.
Tells Manti to use an Oil Slick Arrow where the rest of them died.
BAB says "Oil Slick, WTF?" as Dark Watcher uses Howling Twilight to rez them all. -
Also agreeing this is a horrible change without any reason being given. If you really don't want un-reinforced characters to buy things with alignment merits, it would be better to make them just unable to spend them, instead of being unable to earn them from the SSA. This way they could at least be saved up until alignment is reinforced after getting to 20 and spending a couple days on it.

Beam Rifle/Trick Arrow? Pick Mace as PPP. Call him Captain Redraw.

The facepalm wasn't that it was generic'd, it was that it was generic'd due to Marvel, not Random House.
-
My favorite facepalm-worthy story about trademarked names on CoH characters was when I teamed with someone who had made a spot-on Thing One (from The Cat in the Hat) costume, but their name (not costume) got generic'd because of Marvel Comics' trademark. <Insert comment about some poor GM having no childhood.>

You know what you doing.
(And I had *just* finished putting together a general build using another set as a placeholder.) -

Myself, I went with a name from Disgaea 4's random name list and created Uppercuticus on Virtue. -
The awesome Amile (who also dew my avatar) just sent me the commission I had her do of two of my characters:
That's my tank Balorn on the left and my dominator Kay Volt on the right. -
My only complaint so far (aside from the merit costs of some of the cosmetic items, but that's been brought up elsehwere at length):

This should include purchases in Steam the way TF2, etc works, since CoH is already available on Steam. (Speaking of which, you guys should totally do a Steam promo when this launches. Figure out a way to include a limited TF2 hat for trying it out and you'll get a godzillion people to at least give it a try.)

One question I still haven't seen answered:
If one member of a leveling pact drops from VIP to Premium, does that break the pact? What if they don't pick the pact member as one of their playable characters? -

Quote:It's supposed to be account-wide, like the vet badges and some of the AE badges. Is this one of those, we have to login all toons during the time period to get the badge, or is it flagged for all future characters?
Edit: Curse you and your fast typing, Shadow State! =P -
As a follow up:
Changed to Rogue, went to Talos. Door at about -3161.2 190.9 1807.1 (on one of the islands way up North). Was able to complete the mission with no issues. It was a Council cave, so I couldn't tell if it was using a hero or villain map (non-council caves are colored differently). -
I admit, I kinda cheated. I had to be at work while the invasion was going on, so I just logged in and picked up a random AE arc to stay logged in. But I contributed to the 4000ish! (Twice, since I did it for both my accounts.)
Alternately - I didn't even have to do anything, just stand and glare at Cole's invasion forces, and they decided they'd better withdraw.
