Only if it's an escort mission with BaB at one end with some kind of witty one-liner

I13 looks awesome. Heck, a brand new game in itself!

Just one thing i'd like them to do extra in i13.

Dev's..... While you're tinkering with Cimerora to add the new content etc. Can you fix the lag on the ITF please? We all know it's something other than everyone's ISP's and it really makes a great TF a chore.

I13

Architect seldom have i the urge to say , BAD BAD SUPER BAD idea , while yes its good to be creative and allow some of the brilliant people around to use there creativity and imagination .
This system is definetly exploitable beyond anything .
So no xp no inf no drops , means very few play it other then friends and curiosity .
Xp Inf and drops will mean simply alienating new players from those who custom build farming stuff , AV busting missions , simply put raising there own difficulty with gigantic rewards , no need to play any arcs at all other those accolades and badges ones .

2nd concern will raise how are you going to beat some of the brilliant creative minds who will make every issue content seems so trival . never ever underestimate players creativity .

The rest yeah , especially about time too the booster packs
More please dont mind to throw more money for the game you love , you know you got a dedicated fan base even if half them are nay sayers .

This is the forums... reading and comprehending what you are commenting on is somewhat redundant.

more on-topic: Strikes me as possible that the tokens may effectively be a player-activated strike breaker for poor recipe drops. Do 10 TFs and keep getting darn slow SIOs? Then use your x tokens and get something you really wanted instead.

The way I see it is that letting players make missions will give everyone a lot more missions than the devs could ever provide, while at the same time freeing them up to create more of the bigger stuff we all want as well. Plus, the devs will always be able to make more advanced stuff than the players simply because they have much more to work with.

One of the things that I'm looking forward to is a load of level 50 missions and arcs that I can dust of my beloved level 50s to play. Ouroboros is great but it doesn't really give you the chance to play level 50s at the level they're actually at.

See, this is where i have a *massive* issue. Badges for what? Writing good content? AS things stand, the current badges are obtainable by everyone, as it's down to ingame knowledg/skill. Being able to write a good story *is not* grounds for badges, on the terms that it will alienate plenty of badgers that simply aren't confident about their writing (this includes me, I want a good privacy filter/password protector on the damn thing). I don't agree that it will hook badgers, on the contrary, if it's based on 'write X arcs' or 'get X 5 star rating', it will put people off...that's my assumption

If it's: You've unlocked room detail: Giant Wheel, for some rating, and you gained the 'Novelist' badge for *PLAYING* someone elses content, then that's a more sensible way of promoting the system, and inspiring people to write things (those who are good are rewarded in ways that interest them, and doesn't seclude badgers, badgers can play some of these good arcs and have fun, unharmed)

By the way, BAB has issued a correction: Stalkers do not get Shields.

I really should do something about this signature.

Regarding Merits:

How about being able to gain them by completing story arcs too? The stories are there for people to do, and people can use Ouroboros to flash back to them. It means less farming of the TF's as people have other ways to do things, and may encourage people to play and see that content as well.

Day Jobs:

Hopefully we'll get places to work a bit more varied. For instance, with City Hall and Freedom Court, we have MAGI, ELITE, SERAPH, GIFT and DATA that people could log out in to gain buffs based around those FBSA divisions. DO/SO shops of the varying origins, Vanguard, Portal Corps, Midnight Squad, Universisty, Pocket D, and hopefully some new places and buildings too, hopefully utilizing existing in game stores.

(C'mooon Up-n-Away. And The Wizards Well, I have a character that'd love to work there!)

Shields: Wonder what types there'll be... I'm really hoping for a cool Tech one to use with Tech Broadsword.

Hmmm, I don't know but somehow I'm dissapointed by I13.

While the features are nice and can bring some great content, it very much sounds as if NCNC is slowly withdrawing from supporting the game that much.
Sounds more like, here you go do your own stuff, we'll concentrate on CoH2 now.

Don't get me wrong, it's much better then just stopping to support the game that much (and as I said, some great content can be player generetad now), but it doesn't feel for me at all like the large issue they promised.

So I'm simply dissapointed.

And yes that's my own personal oppion, just to let people know before I get flamed.

Actually, if that had been the case I'd have expected the I13 announcment to have been just opposite of what it is: lots of new story content and missions, but little in the way of expansions and changes to the game mechanisms.

But yes, the lack of any indication of any new story content does make the issue appear "unfilling." I'm hoping, and half suspecting, that we'll get more content (the Coming storm related, no doubt) that they just haven't announced yet.

I'm hoping for a nice steampunk-y shield for my "put on the back burner" idea.

Dreamt about shields last night, only hope they look as awesome in game as in my dream

As for i13 lacking something? I'm not convinced, it looked MORE to me like the Devs giving us all exactly what we've wanted for years, not "oh here's some stuff to distract you while we sneak off" :/

Well here's my thought on I13:

mission creator: Great idea, I will try it, but i don't know if I'm any good at it. It is bigger than most people will ecpect.

day job: Hmm what jobs are there, what bonuses do they offer? They won't huge game breaking. But I hav many many alts, they could be gaining a great deal of bonusses by NOT playing them! ;-) I'm more intrigued by this optoin.

Power profilaration: I am curious as what will be profilarated. Nad yes I think only one set per At will be done, maybe both a primary and a secondary set.

Merit system: I would like to know more. I am one of those guys who alwys seems to be getting terrible recipes after TF's. So i'd be interested.

New Cimerora missions: I love the look of the new zone so i'd welcome new missions.
new costumes: most people want them

Shields: I know a lot of people want them, but to this point I'm not intrigued by them, never was. Maybe if I knew what theset looked like I might get actually interested.
Pain Domination: don't have many villains, soúnless it is a very interesting set, i won'[t play them. But it is nice for those who want them

and much more: let the speculation begin what do they mean with much more? ;-)

But adding new content and stories.. been there done that. People do the story arch once, maybe twice, that's it.

After my 6th lvl50 i gave up any story arch and just do newspaper missions. Specialy on villains the story arch have imho way too many longbow, arachnos or sortlike, mobs that are not really MM friendly. So i pick the easier way out.

Making own missions, with 'decent' reward, gives a new dimension to what to play. And hopefully avoid the most dreaded 'room of doom' cave maps.

But, my 2 dissapointments probably gonna be shields and cimora.

Why? Cimora i've been maybe 4 times, never seen any people there, never did the TF. Not my style.

Shields, refering to dual whield. The animations (on personal lvl) totaly suck. Unnatural movements, specialy after playing a blader on Cabal its a total dissapointment. As i seen the shield guys in cimora, i just cant expect much of these sets.

Some info from here:

[ QUOTE ]
Positron:
Basically:

Upon completing tasks in the game (Task Forces, Trials, etc.) you get an option of receiving Reward Merits instead of a normal reward. The number of merits is based on the difficulty of the mission, how long it takes to complete on average, etc. Thus things like the Katie Hannon TF have minimal merits associated with them, and things like the Shadow Shard Task Forces get bunches.

You can then trade those merits in for specific rewards, like recipes and the like, or trade in a smaller amount for random recipes if you feel lucky.

This should allow players who want to work towards a specific reward to be able to do so, but it will most likely take longer than the random rewarding of that item generated. This should keep the "value" of highly desired items in the Auction House (but most will likely see a fall in price). People still want instant gratification, and that is what the AH brings to those with the Inf. to spend.

oooh here's a random thought regarding the Day jobs...

What happens if you log out in that little Egg hunter dev lounge in Faultline with the NPC devs...does that make your character gain a badge and job title of Developer...

That'd be wierd...

I dinged 50 on one of my toons with the egg hunter badge. No floppy ears or fluffy tail! I was soooooooooooo disappointed

So...

It's kind of conflicting then, he said in the address that it would hopefully end the farming of TF for recipes...yet the merit system will take longer than actually just farming TF (quick Katie etc.) so then....what really is the point in the merit system if it's going to take LONGER than farming a TF...

Rather than the merit system encouraging people to do the nasty Task Forces (Positron/Shadow shards) how about you actually 'fix' them first and don't make them so [censored] boring and 4 hours+ long, then add the merit system!

I do think this is what some people are feeling because there isn’t an announcement of a big new zone and when people were told they were getting a massive issue they presumed this would be lots of new zones and missions. Then there were a few of us who were getting excited about new base stuff (which isn’t essential for the game and only plays to a minority of the user base).

From the dev’s point of view they have seen the fervour that the idea of the mission designer created and announced this as the biggest part of the issue.

In reality there will be lots of content and the dev’s have done things correctly by setting up the new zone last issue and adding lots of missions this issue. The mission designer is a massive bit of the game and we, as users, probably don’t appreciate how much work has gone in to it. We will only realise the full effect of this release months later when there is loads of user content to play. It will give lots more content as well and I suspect a lot of it will be level 50 stuff because that’s what people really want.

There are also new power sets we’ve been crying out for and the off line character stuff is entirely different to getting xp while you’re not playing a character, which is a great idea.

With this, zombies and the moon base in I14 (?), things are looking very good. This game already has lots more to offer than the other super hero MMOGs. And maybe, just maybe, there is more stuff for I13 that isn’t being announced yet, purely because the dev’s don’t want to give too much away to the opposition. Let’s face it, the things they are talking about now are things the games in development already knew about. Could there be more surprises? Oh, the speculation.

As I understand it, the point's that with merits you can be sure of getting the recipe you're after if you earn the necessary number of merits. As it is you can rerun TFs as often as you like and still get nothing but Pacing of the !*$!!%ing Turtle every time.

That's really a different issue; some TFs are well overdue for improvement, but even if they had them the current system still might give you an utterly useless IO as a "reward". And at least with the merit system it can scale up the number of tokens to reflect your Posi-induced suffering.

Ah I see...

The other problem I have is how do you measure what TF is worth which amount of Merits.

The ITF can take a very skilled and well built group 1hr-90 minutes but can take some groups 2-3hrs+

I would be peeved if I had done 3hrs on an ITF and got a minimal reward of merits for it because 'it can be done faster'.

From that point of view I think they've done the right thing as far as meeting the CO/DCO challenge is concerned. By releasing the designer next issue and holding off on new zones, etc..., they've given players time to familiarise themselves with adding new content and start building up a decent library of good stuff. Then as the competitors come out they can release new NC stuff (I13/14) and have the player content there to impress people.

If they'd held off on the designer they'd be facing the competitors with old NC content and a player-designed setup no one had really got up to speed with, and that would be a far weaker position.

With the merit thing I hope you get enough merit's to buy any recipie thrice over for completing Shards TF1.....

Anyways like some of the features, still want to know which powers are going to be proliferated (en for scrappers, en for scrappers, en for scrappers).
As for the rest, just have to wait for the full details be for it gets thumbs up or down (not that things get silly on this forum with each anouncement....)
