PVP Abuse or not, where to draw the line?

While I don't enjoy pvp much, I've spent some time in RV lately on different alts (Defiant) and witnessed different more or less funny behaviour. I know this discussion has been up before, but where's the limit? When is it worth petitioning a behaviour (aside from foul language)

- Being Tp'd out of base entrance and killed, while clearly AFK?
- Being killed, then hunted down repeatedly by the same person when you're a first timer in the zone?
- After being droned once?
- After being droned repeatedly?
- When someone is clearly using a 3rd party macro program?
- When one side uses a spy on the other side to hunt down someone?
- When one side confuses that spy to take down the other sides second account buffer that's hidden in the base?

Personally I have a very high tolerance, and even if I despise some of the people using this and other techniques, I defend their rights to be (cencored cencored).

I'd like to hear what you think is ok/not ok, and also what's really, actually not officially ok. True, I haven't really bothered to look, but are there any clear rules about what's NOT allowed? Have you seen any other behaviour that you think should be "dealt with"?

So, what say you?

[/ QUOTE ]

There is no 3rd party macro targetting program. There was a suspected bug reported by myself and Far-seer around 2 years ago that allows 1 player to target people in the zone. As this hasn't been fixed I assume that it is not actually a bug and I have passed this on to some other players. It is probably this method that is being used.

There are third party programs for creating macros for powers, movement etc. There's also a program that lets you map everything within a certain distance of you by creating a demo file, although you'd need a fairly interesting setup to efficiently take use of that.

Well, actually, all it'd take would be dual-monitors and some of those already-mentioned 3rd party macros.

See, I did martial arts training myself for many years, and every good and decent hearted martial artist I met was, without fail, respectful, intelligent and not dismissive of people of people like you've just been.

Seriously, comments like this just reinforce the image that all martial artists are thug brained Bruce Lee wannabes.

Oh, and "real men" don't brag about how good they are, they just know it in themselves.

I just want to have 3rd pillbox badge and never ever go back to a PvP. PvP doesn't mean that if you see another player from the other side (or even same side at WB) you *have to* attack him/her. You have 3 options in a PvP zone:
- Fighting other PvP interested people.
- Fighting not-interested-in-PvP people, that are there for something else (Yes, there are things to do in a PvP apart of fighting other players).
- And, this is the most unknown one, not fighting non-interested-in-PvP people! Yes, you can choose this without loosing your masculinity/feminity or pub reputation!

I broadcast in zone that I'm in the zone only for pillboxes farming, and I'm not interested in PvP. If any villain attacks me, I don't fight back, hosp and back to pillboxes, if same villain attacks me again immediately, that shows me that that player is not interested in PvP at all (no rewards for defeating me 2 times in less than 1 min) but in making other players game experience miserable and I leave the zone until a better moment.

Not always true.

I often go after the same target in a PvP zone more than once, if I've managed to take them down once already. Not because I want to ruin their gaming experience, but because they agreed to become targets, and I want to have some fun. The rewards mean nothing to me, and unless I've been hugely misled, attacking the same person more than once is not against the rules of PvP.

Well... Personally, I draw the line as smacktalk... I just don't like it full stop. It's infantile most of the time, often highly insulting, and about as much fun as shoving my head through a blender.

If there was no smacktalk, I would PvP. As there IS, and as there always will be, I rarely PvP.

[/ QUOTE ]

Real smacktalk I find boring and pointless. RP smacktalk I find immensely amusing and fun. You'd have to be some sort of idiot to take Lord Khorak seriously when he's running around throwing out cheesy comic book one liners.

As I understand it the whole thing with implementing PvP was a fail and now you have all kinds of goings on now to make it an epic fail.

Someone should read my Sig?

Edit: Actually I'd hardly call it boasting.

Boasting is what I get in PvP zones.

He will honor his words; he will definitely carry out his actions. What he promises he will fulfill. Most people just don't know how to have fun.

Of course Fun can be subjective and your idea of fun might not be someone elses. To each his own.

Posted

People don't enter PvP for the same thing and wish to be seen as human beings simply going about their business.

Meanwhile someone quite rightly decides that by entering the zone they have said yes to pvp.

But then being defeated several times with a team orientated SO build by some purple IO'd person gets boring for the person who keeps losing and so they leave the zone and possibly never come back and so the zones are empty.

Not everyone shares the same idea of fun and no one should be bored plaything at the expense of someother with 30 months more Vets and so on.

Coin,

I don't like PvP in Warburg as I find it thug minded.

There I am on a hero and with no backstory (reason) another hero can attack me.

I find the other zones thug minded purely because there is villains in it so that's excusable.

Often in PvP zones there isn't bragging on the whole but there have been some Bruce Lee wannabe's. You can tell from how they look.

I not sure if the context (if thats the right word) of that post was taken correctly.

Shannon, my comments were absolutely nothing to do with PvP, it was purely about what I quoted and my opinions on it.

Personally, I don't mind either way with PvP. I enjoy it from time to time and if I run in to someone I feel is acting like a pillock (slagging me off in broadcast cos I can't beat them, hurt them, laughing about TP's etc, whatever it is they wanna say to wind me up) I just vote with my feet, leave the zone and go and do something more fun instead

It's not fun when there's like 6 stalkers outside the hospital and an mm with tp foe. I giggled the first time but it gets old fast. Also tp foe into npc mobs makes me doubt zonal pvp. For now i'll stick to arena duels even though they are rare at my level.

What do I love about this?

Real men do what real men do.

Here on CoX you have real men doing what real men don't do.

Interpret that as you will.

The rest is advice.

I see it a lot on these forums where someone doesn't quite get another's meaning and so they act and to add for Shannon I would hardly call what I did as breaking the last sentence of a description that comes from The Sima Qian's Records of the Grand Historian.

Also, nah well okay. In real life fights they are better, you can learn to appreciate the word "stop" and know when someone doesn't want to be hit anymore. In PvP zones often the word no doesn't mean no, stop doesn't mean stop and in real life if you are a guy that doesn't appreciate those words then yes I am going to rip your head off.

Edit: Interpret that how you will btw.
