  1. Yeah, very disappointed that it needs the EXIF data from the camera.
  2. Well plan A, of course, is that COX continues but if we can't persuade NCSoft to either let it continue, or let it pass into anothers hand (i.e. Paragon Studios go solo) then there may be one option.

I don't know if this breaks the rules of conduct, but as the game is likely to be shut down I don't think it makes any difference any more.

Has anyone tried Hypr3D ( http://www.hypr3d.com/ ) to get a 3D print of their character? It might be a bit rough around the edges, and I don't know how successful it might be, but for the sake of taking lots of screenshots and trying to build a 3D model just so you have a nice memory sitting on the shelf this might be worth it.

    Thoughts?
  3. For VOIP users there's always morphvox to hide your voice

  4. Looks like I survived as well! Don't quite know how though. Once met my US counterpart in <The game that should not be named but came before DCUO)
  5. Yep, I'd say that was quite an accurate review.

I know who's keeping my subscription money
  6. Well, for those who feel brave enough to ask for a little assistance on Union, there's the "Villains for Hire" channel.

Don't actually know if there's a "Heroes for Hire" channel. Probably is

Teaming isn't for everyone, but if you're getting frustrated when solo'ing then just remember that there's usually someone around that can help out just for a mish or two.

  8. Just as it switches to the burning roof of Wentworths... Is that ash falling from the sky? Could there be environmental effects coming? There is a lightning flash in the static picture of the fallen Ouroboros platform, so something more dynamic??
  9. What ultra-mode settings are you running, and what's you're FPS like? It's a nice system, no doubt about it, but how's the new shiny performing???
  10. I know it's been suggested elsewhere in other threads, but if Paragon are not going to have a boxed version outside of North America, could we at least have a downloadable ISO image so we're not waiting 3 days to download a fresh update? Most people have the capability to burn images these days, or at least know someone with the knowledge to do so.

<sigh> and that's why these threads just end up getting silly. Take a look at the requirements for the "Megalomaniac" accolade. Question answered.

If there was no PvE content in the PvP zones, then there'd be no need to go in there... but there is, so to get at the PvE content we're not given the choice to whether we want to PvP or not, hence the "Additional rules of conduct" that people make up in order to accommodate those who have no choice but to enter the zone.

e.g. I want the badges for my hero, or as a villain - the accolade power

when teaming we're given the choice, when PvP'ing we're not. To get at certain content you must enter a PvP zone and you must accept the zone rules whether you want to or not. There's no "Click here if you do not accept", you just have to leave as you're going to be unable to get at the content that you want to as a player.

To be honest I fail to understand why this is such a hard concept to grasp too. Either remove the PvE content from the zones, or give us the ability to enter a PvP zone with a simple "Challenge/Response" mechanism in place.

"<Villain/Hero Name> wants to challenge you to PvP. Do you accept? <yes>/<no>"

I click no. Challenger moves on to someone who does want to PvP, and I get to go about my PvE business in the zone.

If you want a nuke, or a Shivan. Then fine, you have to accept the zone rules. But if you just want to go for a walk, you should be able to do that too without fear of ending up in a hospital because someone doesn't understand the concept of "I don't want to PvP" even though I'm in a PvP zone.

I really don't understand some of you. It's like your brains just can't seem to grasp simple concepts.

    PvP means.... Player vs. Player

A PvP zone is where players can/will/are gonna' attack other... players (OMG NO!)

The Devs coded this game to function in a particular way. Aside from exploits, players who play the game that the Devs coded to function in a particular way are not doing anything "wrong". They are merely playing the game that the Devs coded to function in a particular way as intended. It is not the players fault or problem for playing the game as intended as per dev coding that makes this game function in a particulay way, it is the fault and problem of those of you who don't understand that the game was coded by the Devs to function in a particular way.

If you can't understand how or why you are allowed to do or not do certain things in this game, please always keep in mind that the Devs only allow us to play the game that they coded to function a particular way.

If for any reason any of you are in doubt of what I'm saying and still feel that players are actually "in the wrong" for playing the game that the Devs coded to function in a particular way, then I suggest you PM one of the Devs and ask them if it is in fact wrong/mean/nasty/cheating/bad/evil/disrecpectful/dishonorable for players to play the game within the confines of the coding that the Devs coded which allows us to play the game in a particular way.
And it's the simple concept that "I don't want to PvP even though I'm in the zone" that seems to be very hard to grasp as well.
  14. Well Claws, I presume you flew into a complete nerd-rage before you got to the end of my post. I actually say at the bottom that PVP'ers tend to be better players because they're usually playing against other PvP'ers. But threads like this tend to provoke a lot of feeling.

Shivan's are just temp pets, and pretty much everyone can now self destruct with the near same effect as a nuke. Please note, I said "near" same effect.

The point is that the PvP'ers actively discourage people from going into the PvP zones, while the dev's want people to go in there. The OP came across a group that wanted to be left alone. He didn't respect, or for that matter understand, that they wanted to be left alone. They were in a PvP zone, therefore they were targets. They asked him to leave him alone, he refused. He did not respect their request. In fact a lot of PvP'ers don't, and those that do are in the minority; which is terribly sad.

The zone entry text says "You are now entereing a PvP area and can be attacked by other players." If someone asks you to leave them alone, then maybe you should pause a second and ask yourself would it not be more of a challenge to hit on someone who wants to fight back? Just because you're in a zone doesn't mean you have to team, that you have to talk to someone, that you have to PvP.

Hence the PvP flag suggestion. If I'm in a PvP zone and want to PvP then I set the flag, and my name goes orange. Otherwise it's grey because I want to be left alone to have a mooch around a zone, or enjoy watching some PvP'ers fight. It's always interesting to see two well matched players in a fight.
  15. Rather than a zone flag it should be a personal one that's only available in zones that both sides can get into. That way the PvP'ers can fight each other, the PvE'ers can collect their badges and some of us can watch a decent duel between two consenting players without whining from either side of the PvP/PvE divide, or being ganked by the Stalker who's trying out a new build behind your back.

That would also make more venues open to the PvP'ers as they could PvP in the current co-op zones without hassling those who don't want to. Heck, if co-op teams broke down to such an extent that arguments broke out, they could break out of their team, flip the PvP switch and have at it while the rest of us have a good gawp from the safety of the Vanguard base entrance

Far more flexible, widens the PvP playability and might encourage more PvP with players that aren't built specifically for PvP gaming. As it's more likely that non PvP builds would be used. As it is, a PvE'er who enters a PvP zone is likely to get ganked straight away by the fully IO'd (I spent loads'of'inf on this build) PvP'er which is no fun for the PvE'er, and lets face it, hardly a challenge for the PVP'er.

Just a thought of course. Personally I loathe PvP in the game, but some people love and adore it (even if they complain it's busted) I would rather see a system that had an increased level of granularity, and consequently choice, than the current "You entered the zone, so you like PvP, therefore you are a target" While I personally think it was a mistake to put the PvE elements into the PvP zones, it was done for the right reasons. To get PvE players into the zones. Unfortunately they're not prepared for the PvP crowd, and when the devs tried to fix that they made the situation worse; not better and so we haemmorraged a lot of PvP'ers. Which, to give the PvP'ers their due, they tend to be better players than the PvE'ers simply because they're not going up against a lack-luster AI.
  16. Excellent blog. You really managed to capture the feelings I, and I'm sure everyone else, has for the game. Side-kicking means you can still get involved with the high level players, even more-so now with super-sidekicking. The teams are friendly, there's little annoyance from people around you (98% of the time) and it's just FUN!

I've been playing STO while waiting desperately for I17 and GR. STO is good, and feels like Trek to me; but a work colleague (Who also happens to be an ex-COX player) made the comment that "No-one in STO talks to one another" and I agree. COX has a community that welcomes in the newbies and trains them up straight away. The other games foster a terrifying level of intolerence, but not COX.

I bought the lifetime for STO because I can see that as a game, it's got legs and a future.

But it's COX I pay the subscription for. It's COX that I will inevitably KEEP returning to. And it's COX that can be held up and used as one of the finest examples of massively "MULTI-PLAYER" online gaming.

He he. Live long and prosper COX. You deserve it!
  17. Can we have a shopping mall map/Mission please? Populated with many zombies, and scared citizens that need rescuing/terrorising.

Just a thought. Haven't seen any zombie malls, just the occasional zombie hanging around outside various coffee shops and burger bars in Paragon and the Rogue isles. Surely they deserve a proper mall to wander around in?
  18. Of course, if the second Mothership arrives and lays waste to Atlas park, then there's an excuse to rebuild it using the new GFX, and layout seen in the background image on the website.

Also the Rogue isles were left alone during the first invasion, so will the Villains get attacked by a second Mothership? And if so, where's it going to appear? If it pops up over Cap, it's likely to settle on top of the sky scrapers making quite a good roof; after the villains have beaten the snot out of them!

  19. LOL, I forgot the poor heroes didn't have any decent villain backup!
  20. So no teary farewells? No, "Darling, please find attached the entry code to my lair. Keep an eye out for security drone 4, it's been a bit trigger-happy as of late." ?
  21. The Omega team did it, so why shouldn't we?

The Rikti are at it again after being nudged in the right direction by Nemesis, and Earth needs a team to go to the Rikti home-world and persuade them to "please leave us alone" with extreme prejudice.

It's even got Lord Recluse pitching in by sending a crack team of "destined ones" to make sure that his own plans are not interrupted, and to make sure that the rogue isles can show that they care about the planet as well (What's the point in ruling over a cinder if you haven't had the joy of crisping it yourself?)

So... what would your letter be?
  22. Best thing ever for Villains. Slap "Stayin' Alive", by the beegees, on and walk down the main casino strip in St.Martial

Oh, but avoid the bus-stop signs. Never noticed until I started walking but you can bang your head on the them, they're too low down for a normal person height.

The female walk is very sexy. Maybe a little too sexy Imagine a cat-walk model if you haven't seen it yet
