I broadcast in zone that I'm in the zone only for pillboxes farming, and I'm not interested in PvP. If any villain attacks me, I don't fight back, hosp and back to pillboxes, if same villain attacks me again immediately, that shows me that that player is not interested in PvP at all (no rewards for defeating me 2 times in less than 1 min) but in making other players game experience miserable and I leave the zone until a better moment.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not always true.
I often go after the same target in a PvP zone more than once, if I've managed to take them down once already. Not because I want to ruin their gaming experience, but because they agreed to become targets, and I want to have some fun. The rewards mean nothing to me, and unless I've been hugely misled, attacking the same person more than once is not against the rules of PvP.
[/ QUOTE ]
Exactly, that is what I was talking about. Players having fun attacking other players that don't fight back, once and again and again and again and... So funny, indeed. That's why there are always same faces in PvP zones.
OK my viewpoint on this
[ QUOTE ]
- Being Tp'd out of base entrance and killed, while clearly AFK?
[/ QUOTE ]
Absolutely no problem with this - why are you AFK in a pvp zone in the first place.
[ QUOTE ]
- Being killed, then hunted down repeatedly by the same person when you're a first timer in the zone?
[/ QUOTE ]
OK the contraversial one.
First of all being a first timer in the zone is irrelevant here - any rules need to apply to everyone.
But back to the main part of it there is a wide range as to whether this is abuse or not. Taking the two extremes
1 You are the ONLY target in the zone. - No issue with this whatsoever
2 You are just one of many equally attractive targets and are being targetted to the total exclusion of every other potential target for no reason other than to demean you as a player - this is harassment plain and simple.
In practice the normal situation is somewhere in the middle and many get repeatedly targetted but for legitimite reasons, not that this makes it feel any better when you are on the receiving end[ QUOTE ]
- After being droned once?
[/ QUOTE ]
No problem here
[ QUOTE ]

After the first time why are you still close enough to be TP'd to them.
[ QUOTE ]

Against the EULA - petition them. This will earn them a ban
[ QUOTE ]
- When one side uses a spy on the other side to hunt down someone?
[/ QUOTE ]
Can't really see a problem with this.
[ QUOTE ]
- When one side confuses that spy to take down the other sides second account buffer that's hidden in the base?
[/ QUOTE ]
Sounds like one exploit being used to deal with a second exploit.
I still say if you want to be able to affect what happens in a pvp zone or receive any benifits from being in it you should be in the zone proper and not skulking in the base like a coward. Have it that inside the base is a safe zone and no effects can cross the field surrounding it including buffs and the ability to be target. This would also remove the need for drones as a side effect.

Ya know I don't know how people have the gall to accuse other people of things when there is so much hypocrisy and childishness in it.

I just think everyone needs to grow up.
No wonder most people don't seem bother with the forums anymore as it's just a cesspit.

Well, you were replying to my post - so just in case you were replying to me and not just using Quick Reply, I'm going to take the time to defend myself. If you were using Quick Reply, feel free to disregard this:
Perhaps I misphrased my post, but I don't see I've "accused" anyone of anything. I don't pander to the "everyone's a winner" state of mind, because those who win (fairly) deserve the praise and recognition. Now, in an MMO it's hard to set the rules of PvP in stone - so the base rules seem to be: Don't insult someone, Don't make use of exploits. Attacking someone again, and again, and again and winning again, and again, and again isn't wrong, it's picking an easy target and winning. There might not be much honour in it, but this is a computer game.
Sore losers are as bad as arrogant winners, but in personal opinion, only one of these make me want to smack my head against a table.
And hypocrisy - well, I know I'm not guilty of that (which makes me wonder whether you were replying to me), as I am god-awful at PvP. The only time I've been able to win is when I've gone after the same target more than once (which FG will confirm I do quite a lot).

Never said it was wrong attacking not-interested-in-pvp-players, only that you *also* could not doing so. It's up to you. You have lots of fun fighting not-interested-in-pvp-players? Ok, I'll check tomorrow, because, yes, I'm one of those who expect to be left alone in a PvP zone because due to sins in my former life I have things to do there. Of course it's my problem!
Fosca, would you mind explaining to me why it's fine for you to state those who attack you again and again in a PvP zone are only out to make yours/others' gaming experience miserable?
As you stated in your first post to this thread.

<Start Rant>
Ok. Small, tiny, itsy bitsy question...
How do I get the various badges and things in a PvP zone if I'm primarily a PvE person and want, say, an accolade power? I have ZERO interest in PvP, but I have to put up with being hounded by idiots who ignore a simple "Please, I'm just here to get a badge" broadcast? I'm not a sore loser. I don't WANT to be in the zone, but I have no choice.
So. I want the badge. I don't want to bash other players over the head, because I just don't find it fun. But I respect that other players want to PvP. In fact, I've seen some pretty good fights between PvP'ers in RV. The main problem is that other PvP'ers have no respect for those who don't want to PvP and are in that zone for other reasons. The Dev's put PvE content in the PvP zones to encourage people to go into the zones and PvP. Unfortunately it means the PvP zones aren't fun. If you want to kill each other, fine. But respect those who aren't interested, and stop acting like a 5 year-old having a temper tantrum when the Stalker that's following his bait around turns you into a one-hit-wonder

Seems a tad counter productive to me!

I suppose it comes down to PvP vs PvE. It's always a hot topic. Not to mention there appears to be a general consensus (Please correct me if I'm wrong) that COX PvP is a bit broken. Sometimes PvP can be fun, if you're in the mood. But if you just want to get one PvE character to be all it can be you have to grind through the absolute misery that some of the PvP zones are.

I disagree. For instance, to get the ouroboros portal it is assumed that you have come across time-travel. Barring a few missions that you have to hunt for, the only sure-fire way to get it is to visit a PvP zone like RV. The megalomaniac accolade could easily be placed somewhere other than RV. etc...

Of course you have a choice - you can choose to go without the accolade.
I also have zero interest in pvp. As far as I'm concerned, pvp zones belong to people who want to pvp.
I don't want to pvp, so I don't go in them; regardless of any pve rewards there might be.

You go in and you do it. Like I did.
What you don't do is complain you were attacked while PvEing in a PvP zone. It's one of the hazards of PvP Zones, one that they remind you of every time you enter one of the creepy places.
Should badge gathering content have been put into PvP zones, knowing that many 'badgers' don't like it? Yes, because it's unfair to deny the PvPers stuff just because someone who religiously collects badges won't like it.
I don't really like PvP either, but I have all the PvP Zone exploration badges and a few of the other ones. As far as I recall, I was never attacked while hunting them, by the way.

It's not that hard to hunt them down, they are usually story arcs and you will usually do them in the course of normal play. The Faultline arcs is one of them and those are some of the more interesting short arcs in the game currently.
