  1. Elec on a tank is a lot of fun if you had considered a tank, and just softcapped to S&L is good enough for most of the game. Something like Elec/Mace would be a good balance of survivability and damage.

Not tried elec armour on a scrapper yet, only on a tank and brute I do think the lack of +HP is my main turn off in the set. With sets I can get more regen on an Invul with DP up than I can on an Elec with Energise running thanks to the higher HP.

Rikti on an Elec are stupidly easy, from past experience. My Elec/Fire tank without any IOs found the LGTF a walk in the park.

Will be looking for ideas on a new alt once my Mace/DA hits 50 and am thinking of trying Energy Armour or Elec Armour as they're the only secondaries that I've yet to 50 on a scrapper maybe I can put aside the HP worries and give it a go
  2. DM was always my favourite melee set until the animation changes hit claws, for some reason I'd never really invested in claws before. I know DM doesn't have the AoE of other sets but I've always liked being the one to run up to the biggest and toughest looking foe and have at it when I play melee.

That's not to say I don't AoE melee sets, but if a TF or Trial is looming and I decide to pull out a scrapper it's always DM or Claws I go for. I know my Fire/Shield could do just as good a job but I don't see many other DM/WP or Claw/Invs on trials (on my home sever of defiant read Claw/WP and DM/SR which I did see plenty of others of cause pre-ios DM/SR was good for standing toe to toe with AVs and Claw/WP was simply the most fun thing I levelled.)

If I thought I could afford another Invul build I'd probably make a DM/Inv but my cheapest inv came out at 2billion. For some reason it isn't a set I can build a cheap version, it can start of cheap but by the time I end up actually making it happen a lot more cost has seeped in some how.

Hell I'd love a Fire or Elec melee invul scrapper too, its just a set that can cover lots of holes well and you don't need to worry about synergy as much as others, DA can be good but I find I need something to break the alpha or my endurance dies fast. SR works really well with the top up heal from DM but without it I feel weak. Obviously they're gaps that can be filled but its nice to have a secondary that doesn't need that to make it powerful.

For primaries I just tend to dislike sets I find ugly and Broad Sword. I dont find broad sword ugly but it was my test for solo levelling speed during a double XP weekend a while back and while I found it levelled quickly it was the dullest 16 hours I've spent in game. This was pre AE which kinda changed that with being able to build maps to suit your alt.......... I've really wandered off topic now, you shouldn't let me do that
  3. 6:22 on my Claw/Inv scrapper

Using Base TP not Oro portal
  4. this is the build I was planning on for My Mace/DA, is in the 30s at the moment and the end is a bit of a pain am hoping it will improve later though and I dont have Ob Gloom yet or half my IOs

Mace however is amazing fun and though my Kat/DA was cheaper to build and easier to run I find this one rewarding, mostly cause Crowd Control normally lets me knock down most of a group and then kill the boss before I've taken much incoming damage

  5. am torn between DM/Inv and DM/WP.
I think that Inv would have the edge given budget and time to iron out the build though, I dont have a DM/Inv myself but seeing how much more survivable my DM/WP is to my Claw/WP gives me the idea that a DM/Inv would be like a jacked up version of my Claw/Inv. Both my Claw/inv and Spine/inv have great survivability and the primaries dont really help them much so give it DM and watch it keep going and going
  6. If you're after the speed of claws then you probably would want elec rather than SR to get the damage aura too, if a brute will give you taunt and damn I keep trying to avoid making one of those but it keeps coming up
  7. I bet Mace/Shield is fairly nice

I like my spine Inv but I dont run the AE on him. Battlemaiden, Council, Marauder or freaks outside normally. My Fire/Shield can farm alright too, which is why I figure mace would be able to do it. I found my Spine/WP to be a boring version of my Spine/Inv which might actually be what you're after. A Fire/Fire/Blaze can farm alright in close confines so that you can kill those not agro'd when things run away, mine's still sat on the EU servers. I've seen Spine/Elec running alright, though I know the player of it is stripping it to fund more fun characters. I still find the spine/inv fun because the taunt aura + the damage aura means you can actually tank with it too

If you're after a tank a Shield/Fire does fairly well, shield really does compliment fire melee nicely but then Fire/Ice tank still works, bun patch, ice patch, things die.

My favourite is Spines/Inv but YMMV
  8. To me it's been relegated to the "too ugly to play" pile along with Dual Blades, difference between the two is FM might actually be more to my playstyle in general.

The only thing that might make me play it in the end is that they wont let me have claws/shield so if I want another shield alt (already having fire, axe and DM) I might end up choosing KM
  9. Bah saw this too late. Still have my Illusion/Rad on defiant, if it happens a future date and I'm free I will be in.

    Cynical Elfling signing up
  10. What like Defiant would let Union go down without following? Let Union get DXP as compensation and defiant still work so not and then lose a load of players? Could never happen

    3 down eh? But it's OK when it's in a 3 way

Oh look other servers joining in the fun
  11. Just wondered if it was doable, too many power options for me to get through, I keep being distracted by the shiney things. Am after the AoEs iff possible
  12. I'm having the same problems, managed a very laggy lam trial earlier but didn't manage to stay connected to a whole BAF all day (I really am sorry to anyone that teamed with Melissa Rapture on Freedom today, I'll run some to make up for it, promise.)

I thought I might have been alone with the issue and it might have been my end on the PC, but I had the same trouble with my laptop which has obviously got different hardware to the PC.

Zoning on the BAF could cause the crash, or the achievement of an objective and twice the powers in my tray vanished only to reappear on zoning.

I seemed to be able to run normal missions just fine, but the trials threw me repetitively
  13. Cant make either of those I'm afraid, the Wednesday would normally be a good fit for me but am in France at the time

Best of luck with it though, and succeed so that there'll be enough interest to do another
  14. What a strange way to save a thread
  15. I like the idea of a pirate island.......... that's one with wenches and grog not one with nerds and torrents. My base would probably be behind a waterfall on the quite side and I'd have to own the only bar allowed to operate obviously.

  17. Was wondering a bit about the word "or" figured it should read "and"
  18. Am quite happy with the change, knew it was coming, knew why it would be coming. Its undone the sudden lack of appeal I got for my Elec/Fire brute when it came out as suddenly fire doesn't look so weak damage wise (when damage is the main thing that fire brings)

Hit my tank worst but I guess that's fine, someone else can do the killing now I'll just tank or something

My Fire/Shield scrapper still feels amazing, just not like cheating anymore

    Ugh, WHY KM!?

Having 3 DMs at 50, 3 FMs at 50 and 3 Spines at 50 I cant see the problem with levelling more than one at a time but I guess if you have to choose I'd probably pick fire cause it adds a nice AoE to your mix and hopefully the -damage would help with the survivability. But then I quite like my squishy scrappers.

    Omg

I'm considering moving to the US am sick of having to queue to log into this game, the devs hate the EU
  21. I got drunk with some Elflings in Birmingham, player meets are well worth it
  22. Find a UK based friend and order to go to their address. I've helped MaX sort time cards for MMOs before that way
  23. My LR on my brute always hit for two different damages, one at melee and one further out

If you expect disappointment are you disappointed when you don't get it?
