soft capped Crab build without purples and PVPs?

Yes it can be done, but it's a very tight build and you'll have to pick your bonuses and sacrifices to make it work.
I would say it's actually fairly simple to cap all of your positional defenses. If fact, using purples is what makes it difficult, since they don't give you any +Def set bonuses.
There are multiple ways it can be done. If you choose your IOs primarily for the +Def set bonuses, you could even skip pool Maneuvers and/or Weave and still hit the soft caps, though your DPS might suffer a bit.
Here's a build I just cooked. It has soft-capped defenses, decent recharge, and enough AoEs. Pets are mostly slotted for defense bonuses, but probably are still usable.

TW/Elec Optimization
It is pretty easy to hit the softcap for all 3 positionals which leaves lots of room for +recharge to get the AoEs up more often, and the pets perma (or very close to it)

Just wondered if it was doable, too many power options for me to get through, I keep being distracted by the shiney things. Am after the AoEs iff possible
