The news release of Going Rogue seemed really iffy, like it was not meant to go out, then Posi had to do damage control by making it an official announcement, that was in May.

[/ QUOTE ]I've thought all along that it would be a 2010 release, though I'd be more than happy to be wrong.

[/ QUOTE ]

Ditto. I'd be happy if we're not wrong either. So long as more Issues come out between 16 and GR. I can wait for the box set but not at the expense of the game updates. Which, there's nothing indicating that *would* happen - it's just something I'd rather not see happen in any case.

I was optimistic that Going Rogue would be out this year, but after hearing them talk about recently getting new concept art for the expansion, I think GR looks more like a 2010 release.

One reason I was hopeful of a 2009 release is that we haven't had much in the way of new content this year. Features, yes. Content, no. So what has the mission writing team been doing for the past year or so? I hope they've been working on GR, but who knows? I certainly don't.

Either way, it's all good as long as GR delivers a lot of new content.

I think this is a false and irresponsable statement based on nothing, that only leads to more gloom and doom. Closed beta for issue 16 starts next week or soon there after, it probably won't go live untill mid September. That leaves three months to get GR out before Christams and I think there is a good chance that is what they are aiming for.

It is much more likely that they want to consentrate on building hype for Issue 16 before starting the really marketing push for GR.

Of course i could be wrong, it's just an opinion, but stating GR won't come out in the next 7-8 motnhs is also just a geuss with no real facts to base that negative assumption.

[/ QUOTE ]

If GR comes out before X-Mas, Mr Scrooge will take away the last piece of coal from the dev team. In other words, they won't have a holiday season, because they'll be fixing bugs. If they want it in stores for Xmas, it needs to RTM in October so boxes are on the shelf in November (lastest being Thanksgiving). Given that I16 is probably going to ship this year, the supposition that GR won't hit until 2010 is reasonable. There's also evidence that the emailing that went out about GR was *way* premature and in error, so don't take the timing of the notice and work backwards into a "reasonable" delivery time expectation.

I haven't posted in like 3 months, for the simple reason that it's not something I like to do. In all eyes pointed at the screen, I feel that reading n understanding others is more important then sharing ones own opinion, but I will say something. If they do release the expansion this year, it will be BIG! And no one knows how far they are with the content in GR. They could have been working on it in the background, covering it with issues n patches n "bugs" to keep people from asking questions bout a new expansion. I'm willin to bet that they posted the expansion on purpose to turn the public's eyes to something else keep the people from asking questions bout the upcoming changes to the game. Which by now I'm assuming is something they are getting really tired of. They will with no doubt blow thur the i16 testing n debugging, just like they did with the last few issues, for gods sake, they haven't even updated mids for i15. And just before everyone thinks that GR wont come out for the x-mas season, they will announce it before Black Friday n corner the market on the super hero/villain game franchise, n i16 will just draw the hype from Champions. If you want guesses n speculation ask anyone else. I prefer to think that why would you announce something n make a official page bout it, whether then send out a retraction saying future plans have leaked, please wait for more on the subject at a later time.... Sounds fishy but ok. Some may see intuition as one persons means to justify your own meanings to come to conclusions that are necessarily true, but I'm usually not wrong bout this stuff. I've said it before n I'll say it again, no matter what happens with the release of the upgrades n expansions, the game will just continue to get better n better with 40+ people workin on it now. Long Live CoX!

I have said that we won't get GR this year and everyone said the opposite...GR isn't some dinky-winky issue release...it is another game entirely!

[/ QUOTE ]

Er. Yea. Id recommend watching the Comic Con 2009 CoH Pannel on youtube in which they discuss GR. Two main points they talked about were (and I'm am quoting almost directly from the video)

1) Reinvent early gameplay experience
2 )Establish a new compelling endgame experience.

I dont mean to bash what you said, its just that I'm getting a bit tired of people assuming GR is a brand new game when we have very, very little info on it.

This doesn't sound like a brand new game. It sounds like new shiny stuff for beginning and end of game action.

On a side note, the video also mentions "Slew of New Stories to Experience" and as I recall, the last time we were promised a 'slew' of new somthing, we got 1 costume, 1 patternt and about 10 new faces per gender -_-8

GR probably won't be out this year. I think I was just blinded by my desire for it to come out soon when I posted before. Stepping back and looking at everything from a trully unbiased stance....I'd bet on 2010.

My bad.

The official page wasn't even working at the time of the "release"

Trust me, I want to get GR by XMas since I am always on vacation then. The truth is sad but plausible...we might not get it in time.

Unless the devs have been putting a ton of work into GR while the game was releaseing all these systems and features. This scenario is also very plausible.

In the end I do want this expansion/game by xmas...am I keeping my hopes up? I don't know

Well, not to be the new optimist, but most of the content we've gotten this year has been features not story content. Which means the content people have been working on something right?

GR is to reinvent early and late game experience, with a bunch of new stories to experience. If that is the majority of what GR will have in it, then maybe that is what the content people have spent the year on.

So now they need to get the other stuff in, the bells and whistles and such.

I don't think it will necessarily be 2009, but you have to agree marketing probably wants a 2k9 release if only to compete with Champions with a new box on the shelves. Still, I'd say at the very very earliest we'll see GR by 11/25 or so. and if it's not out by 12/07 we probably won't see it until mid-late January if even then.

Hahaha, that's always my take on things. If it's not as bad as I suspect then I'm pleasantly surprised. If it is then hey.. I knew it. No biggie. Works out great that way. :P

Well, at least now there's some kind of time-line

Loyalty bonuses being tracked between August and November 15th. That has some bearing into whether or not you get GoRo beta access. This would mean closed beta might start between later November and the Winter Event.

GoRo in stores by April 1st? Let's hope so

I got that email like a week and a half ago, everyone on champion thought I was going crazy.

GoRo closed beta will be done in three tiers:

Tier 1 is for 60 month+ vets
Tier 2 is for Loyalists
Tier 3 is for preorders

Tier 1 people can start testing now...how many of those people are left I lost 4 months of time during the games early life

Tier 2 will begin a week after nov 15 so the badge can be applied, that can be a Nov 22 Closed Beta invite or in Dec.

Tier 3 has not been released, there will be a preorder so at least we know that the preorder might be 1 month before the game. If the Preorder comes with some cool extras Ill get that instead.

But I think we can see GoRo and its bugs this year...

If the Devs want to start Closed beta testing eiththe 60+ month vets... they should do so very quietly

Yeah, I'd say that's a safe bet.

To be fair, the loyalty program just means that the closed beta will be still going after November 15th. Considering /everyone/ who is subscribed from August 15th to November 15th gets in, it's also likely going to be shy of going into open beta when that happens, since it's very easy to get in at that point.

That being said, it does also make it look like GR will be a Jan/Feb thing, unless they don't open beta going rogue at all. But even that seems unlikely.

Why should being a 60 month vet automatically get you closed beta access... If veterancy is even one of the ways they choose closed beta testers then I'm very disappointed...

I'm not getting GR unless one of these things are in it

1.new travel pools

2.SS for scrappers

3.Clawed gloves,a new power set or a weapon option for claws

4.Moon Zone

5.A new primany about hand to hand fighting that isn't MAs

I'm 99% sure that you can give up on this hope since both SS and MA got alternate animations.

On the topic of who gets into GR beta:

I hope that those are not the only guidelines, and rather doubt that they are, for getting into beta. They'd be leaving out a lot of known good testers.

Be well, people of CoH.

I think that is the three tiers for the loyalty program. Not the all exclusive. but basically, you been playing for 60+ months and subscribed through august to november, you're going to get in before someone who only has say 35 months of Vet time.

I'm wondering about the holiday events are they in the GR universe or not. If they are will they be changed slightly to reflect bein in a diferent dimension.

Would an alien space station be the same as the moon? You might even get both

If it's a boxed expansion, which requires you to pay money for it, why would there be an open beta? I get that you can entice people by letting them test-drive the new stuff before putting money into it, but there's not a lot of precedent for it.
