The stuff this person was refering to was really old stuff from right after CoV went into open beta. I remember it, alot of it was suggestions by players, but the devs had said they had played with the idea some, but it never went very far. This was mostly stuff us players wanted to see during the open beta and closed beta. Nothing that ever went live, or went very far as far as powers go. It was mostly stuff the art department did or maybe even was simply conceptualized but never actually created.
Most of what he mentioned was speculation, from players. Not alot of it was actually mentioned by devs, the devs back then always liked to play with our heads, by asking questions and seeing what we come up with. It wasn't mean, it actually helped them create new classes for us. The one that actually went live the quickest was the Dark Melee/Dark Armor Stalker. I never did figure out why they made stalkers, but didn't make a Dark/Dark from inception.

Oh, I almost forgot why I came here after reading all these posts, (had to skip half of the "is Desdemona fat" stuff)
My curiosity is will I be able to take a level 30ish hero, switch sides and become a villain, then take a Patron and obtain his powers? If I'm able to do so, could I then be able to switch back and retain the patron powers?
Edit: Or visa-versa?

I just want to say, concerning Dual Pistols, I really really really hope it comes pre-proliferated, that is, I comes available to all the ranged available classes. I have a MM I got for dual pistols and darkness, who's pets come in as a VG related bonus, I PLan to re-roll him as a dual pistol character when it comes out, but I'd hate to have to go through being on hero-side to get it, atht e very least, allow it to be available to one class on red side.

Look at the video at about 54 seconds; in the power list it mentions "Shape Shifting". There are many other powers listed that were 'recently' released and also one we dont have "Light Control". Maybe this was originally illusion trolling power?
The character creation/power cselect screen reminds me a lot of what Champions Online is now.
Also...at 1:01, there are many villain groups listed that I have never seen in 5 years of playing: Seraphmia, Twilight Men, Revelation, Killing Crew, Fear Factory.
Any redname would like to comment on these villian groups...and powers

There's a difference about saying "Thats a beautiful painting" or "That's a painting of a beautiful woman" and "That cartoon character has a sweet booteh, she's so hot! Look at those curves... mmmmmmhmmmm... she's my kind of woman! Sooooo soft" There's a definite line between those two ends of the spectrum, and I just find it creepy when someone feels the need to cross it. On one end it's an appreciation for a beautiful piece of artwork and on the other it's an expression of lust for a cartoon character. There's a definite difference there. She's every bit a cartoon character as betty boop, and yeah, that'd be creepy too.

Apparently Pre-Beta, the devs thought everything was a control power!
That video is so old and the devs prolly made it just to show off. but alot of he powersets mentioned have later come out.
I also want to note that if you go into the trainging map and you go to the part where they show a small screen of the power tray, you see the scrapper powertray with the Hide power in it.
I saw this so many years ago and havent taken a look at it. You can say that the Serephim prolly turned out to be something like the luddites and the legacy chain.
This video was from the Alpha days and the pre release teasers...a long time ago I wanted to hope that these powersets would make it to live....

From what I remember from the really early pre-beta boards, anything with the name control was actually what we'd call a powerset, with a bunch of sub-powers ( I remember light control was supposed to have a blinding power and also a laser targetting power, to expose enemy weaknesses)
