Quote:I'd love to see an "April Fool's" pack made up mostly of shtick. The arrow-through-the-head gag, with or without the obvious headband; Groucho glasses; big, plastic flower as a chest detail; a clown nose; Carp Melee weapons; that kind of thing.Whatever ends up getting made for this, I thnik it'd be a good idea to aim for a release around April 1st, to help the marketing.
And maybe, if there's time, some wingtips? Mapped so you can make them two-tone? -
It's always sad to see a competent person stop working on a thing you love. Hopefully, you'll go on to work on another great something that's just as fun and challenging.

My friend manually uninstalled (using an uninstaller program), reinstalled from the DVD, and has a version number greater than or equal to 4462. She just had a crash with no errors or indications. In her words: "No warning. No pop up windows. Just died."
-
My friend's build number is in the 3000s, so she's uninstalling and reinstalling from the DVD I burned. I'll update when I know more.

I have a friend that gets the Assertion Failure box without fail every time she goes into the base editor and some other times, as well, that aren't so obviously triggered. She says that her graphics drivers are as up to date as they can be and something about not being able to uninstall & reinstall them without completely uninstalling the OS. I don't think that's accurate, but haven't looked into it myself after finding this thread.
She has satellite Internet, so I downloaded the Mac installer, put it on a DVD, and had her reinstall it; she did not uninstall the old version first, but simply put the new one on top of it. She still gets the Assertion Failure message.
She's running 10.5.8 on an iMac with the following pertinent specs:
Processor: 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
RAM: 4 GB
Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 4850
Any suggestions? -
Global looks like it's down. So, the whole global chat system is offline, which includes channels.

Quote:Most trends have an upper bound. The shortest times for 100-meter dashes haven't decreased at the same rate throughout history because human performance reaches an upper limit and can't be pushed much farther. If prices keeping trending up, eventually those purples that sell now for a billion plus will rach 2 billion plus.
Similarly, there is a maximum price that the market will bear for any given item and, as indicated elsewhere (possibly also in this thread), there are ways to undercut the profiteers who play the market to drive prices up. There will always be people willing to sell for less than the supposed going rate just to be rid of something quickly. If you're patient, you can get things cheap and if you're willing to sell for a little less, you can get rid of things quicker. It's not rocket surgery. -
First and foremost, I'm not an economist.
But I've been wracking my brain on and off for more than a year as to why the two markets aren't merged. I can't find a single rational reason from the perspective of the player.
Yes, there's an initial iniquity, but the heroes have more money and things cost more at the black market, so these two will eventually even out. In fact, given how radically prices can fluctuate on common salvage, I'd be willing to bet it won't take more than a week or two. If merged, the villains could immediately start taking advantage of lower prices posted by heroes, and thus get their goods for less money. Then, as prices seek a new equilibrium, some of the super-expensive villain stuff will get bought, too, putting cash in the hands of villains. These two trends indicate that the influence/infamy level would also find its own level in a similar time frame.
Unless I'm missing some principle of predictable irrationality or a major technical hurdle, the rational course seems to be merging. -

If it's a boxed expansion, which requires you to pay money for it, why would there be an open beta? I get that you can entice people by letting them test-drive the new stuff before putting money into it, but there's not a lot of precedent for it.

Guysguysguys. You're missing the real point, the one LiquidX already made:

You know what's Epic Fail? The lack of Speed Suits in the Super Science Booster.
THAT is Epic Fail, my friends.

If my super scientists can't look like the mayor of Candyland or Santa's magic janitor, then they're not super enough or sciency enough. -

Sick because they are so evil or sick because if this was Fallout 3 you would have murdered most of your contacts for giving you lip?

How do you slip a live grenade in the pocket of someone in skin-tight latex, though? -
I don't have a specific question, but I would definitely be interested in any more information about the Shadow Shard and Rularuu.
Also, I'd love to see it turned into a co-op zone with the Vanguard taking over Firebase Zulu. It makes just as much sense as them fighting the Rikti if you think about it. -
I know it's a little too obvious of a nod, but "The Ballad of Barry Allen" by Jim's Big Ego seems like a pretty perfect fit for Synapse.
Also, Rancid's "Indestructible" works well for Statesman.
Maybe Joan Jett's "Bad Reputation" for Silver Mantis? -
As far as I can tell, you can't have a captive in the same mob as a boss you have to defeat.

I don't say much, but I have to say that that is genius.

If anyone deserves to work on a video game about superheroes and supervillains, it's a man with the name Alex von Minden. I'm sorry to hear that you're going, and I wish you all the best.
-
Wow, that's excellent.
Both the movie and the fact that it (deservedly) won a contest. -
Glad to have you back, even if you don't post much. The powers and concept brought me in, but your story kept me here.
So...about Weaver One.... -

Positron lied to us. This update contains two things players have been asking for since essentially the beginning of the game, not one. We get both Flashback and weapon customization!
I have emerged from my hole to say that I approve of Issue 11 and am as giddy as a schoolgirl.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hahahaha...
Actually Weapon Customization made the feature list AFTER I made the original "something you've been asking for" post, where I was referring to Flashback. (We had players in the CoH beta test asking for a way to go back and do the story arcs of the Contacts they skipped).
[/ QUOTE ]
Don't worry. This is the kind of lying like your parents saying "There is no way I'm getting you another one of those huge Lego sets for Christmas." just to throw you off the trail.
I'm sorry all I got you was that hand-print ashtray. -

Guys, havest thy never heardst of the World Serpent? The one that would fight Thor in the final battle called:

Rag·na·rök [ rgnə ràwk ]
noun
Definition:
destruction of gods: in Norse mythology, the final destruction of the gods in a great battle against the forces of evil, after which a new world will arise
[Mid-18th century. < Old Norse ragnarök "fate of the gods" < regin "gods" + rok "fate"]
[/ QUOTE ]
The picture very strongly suggest a Nordic influence. The head is very much reptillian (with the way the skin is at the hinges of the jaw), and believe it or not dragons and sea serpents have been described as having ears (they have characteristics of more than just snakes, don'tcha know?).
While Encarta fails me in finding the name of the World Serpent (I believe it starts with a 'J'), it was tricked into biting onto it's own tail. Loki, the father of the World Serpent, saved the Serpent (as well as Fenris) so they could help him win Ragnarock.
And no, I'm not talking 'Marvel's' or 'DC's' version of Norse mythology.
[/ QUOTE ]
Jörmungandr?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, Jormungandr. Until Ragnarok, he lies below the oceans, biting his own tail, encircling the world.
So, that's two symbols of infinity (the ouroboros and the sideways figure-eight) done up in a Nordic/Germanic style with a background reminiscent of fire and smoke.
Then, we have the two tutorials that never got done: No heroes manage to stop Outbreak and it spreads around the world. Nobody rescues Jenkins and Lord Recluse never gets his Destined Ones.
This leans heavily in the directions of both Flashback and more parallel universe stuff. The dual infinity could mean either the infinite multiverse or the infinite spectrum of time and its possibilities. Or it could just be that Nemesis has a new necklace. -

If you get the "Saturday Morning Cartoons" music CD, they have a remixed version of that song combined with the Johnny Quest theme.

By Reverend Horton Heat, great version! I loved that CD.
Then I remembered it was over 11 years it came out, and now I feel so very, very old...

You can't go wrong with the right Reverend. And the fact that the Ramones are on that CD, too, makes it even cooler. And, by extension, everyone who owns a copy. -

If the Triangles are not going away then for the love of all that is evil in the game MAKE THE TRIANGLES VISIBLE 100% OF THE TIME!!!
[/ QUOTE ]
This is completely true. Something I'm sure all ATs would appreciate, not just Dominators.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, when the triangles go away is when a mez attack will actually do something. Purple triangles mean that they are completely immune to mez. No triangles means they are vulnerable to a certain amount of it, which is still fairly high and almost impossible to single-stack.
