Because of costume part ideas like brain-in-jar and a possible brainslug, I've started to think a lot more about humorous/silly/kitschy costume themes. Certainly, players have been making their own 'joke' costumes since the game began, and we routinely pick these sorts of things for our costume contest winners (if you make us laugh, you pretty much win). Didn't want to derail the Costume Workshop thread with this, but if any of you would like to discuss, feel free to post here.

--Good fit for the game?
--Something you've always wanted?

Well...someones going to say it, so might as well get it out the way...

Giant Fish weapons (possible Carp) for Broadsword and Katana with a Swordfish for Titan weapons.

What?

You knew it was going to happen...

On a more serious (in a joke costume piece thread? How obtuse!), take the Brain Tank design, remove the bowl and instead put a kitten infront of tiny lever controls (or failing that, a keyboard). Call it the Catmando head piece.

This kind of thing would be great for a 'and now for something completely different...' type pack where it's not really a theme or a set but just full of weird individual costume pieces.

Well, some people take those sorts of things seriously, in their own way.

61866 - A Series of Unfortunate Kidnappings - More than a coincidence?
2260 - The Burning of Hearts - A green-eyed monster holds the match.
379248 - The Spider Without Fangs - NEW - Some lessons learned (more or less.)

Joke accessories have their place, and we could definitely do with more. Brain in a jar? Like the Clockwork King? That'd be awesome. I suggest watching a couple of hours of the old Roadrunner cartoons for inspiration from ACME.

*coughs* thoust does know that the Brain in a Jar piece was already released as part of the Halloween pack (was for a limited time only).

It was the one piece that I've been wanting since I first started playing this game, infact my first post on the old EU forums was asking for a Brain in a Jar head piece.

David and his art team made me immensely happy the day it was released.

Haha, I could see something like this getting out of hand...
Not that this is necessarily a bad thing.

For some reason, all I can think of is an arrow through the head head detail.......
Wow, that is so not funny, lol.

Could we get a banana peel temporary power?

Titan Weapons are already pretty much on the edge of comic relief, so go with the suggestion from the last UStream broadcast to make a Christmas tree variation for TW

(Psst! It was part of the limited time Halloween pack.)

I wouldn't mind seeing some silly stuff once in awhile.
That said i didn't get halloween pack since nothing in that appealed to me, but i think that was more the theme rather than the silly factor it had.

Oh!! Someone mentioned a great idea for a Titan Weapons option: a long pole... with an animated person tied to the other end to be used as a club!!

Put the person in a suit and tie and call it the Marketing Club for bonus points!

Put the person in a fancy tux, top hat and cane and add an aura of dollar bills falling out... and call it the 1% Club!

Speaking of which - I wouldn't mind the Money Sachel backpack that the villains in Safeguards are wearing - including the money aura.

Deamus the Fallen - 50 DM/EA Brute - Lib
Dragos Bahtiam - 50 Fire/Ice Blaster - Lib

I hardly ever make themed characters but the first look at the pieces from the halloween pack inspired me. I made a dark/elec defender that looks like an anglerfish.

That said, if more crazy pieces got added I'd start making more themed alts.

Anything especially 70s tends to lend itself to this end. True bellbottom jeans, for example. Or a shield that is half of a disco ball.

How about a rifle/pistol model that's a miniature dragon tied to a handle? Bonus if it has animated eyes frantically rolling around.

Ha, good one. Or some monkey/homunculus. Or have a fish swimming around inside the tank.

*Waves hand* That was me. I've also suggested a Shield that's a Hellion or Skull tied to your arm.

or splice those together, and have a literal Fish Tank. Jar full of water, with a small fish in it (maybe with a headset/controls for the suit.) Ok, now I know I've seen that somewhere before, where am I cribbing that from?

Okay, story time.

Last year, a friend of mine ran a pen-and-paper RPG where we played City of Heroes characters. It only lasted a short time, but it was fun. However, one of the iconic moments of the RPG game came when Jackson Storm (a tanker) drove a mostly wrecked hearse (which had previously been used by the Skulls as transportation) through Moth Cemetery, with a Banished Pantheon Totem stuck to the hood. Two passengers in the car were Skulls, who had not been able to escape the car before this, and when he pulled to a stop, he proceeded to use them as melee weapons against other bad guys.

Side note: Totem as a shield for Shield Defense.

In a similar vein to the critter-in-the-helmet, you could have a torso piece with a transparent front, and a tiny person/critter visible inside in a control bay.

I would love to see a more jokey theme sets once in a while, more than likely one of the few sets i'ld purchase in a heart beat [not a fan of sets with such a small expansion space for ideas].

Chuck in a set based on illusion or trickster and i'ld be there in an instant! Of course other costume sets i've been dying for are the street fighter/warrior, a hip set [think street cred/dj's/pimp] and a slayer set.

Edit: Just to add that [in my eyes] the problem i see with a costume part such as brain in the jar is that a LOT of costumes you see all have a common theme, there is not enough diversity from within that costume set.
