Oh, my character Andrea Blake so has to memorize that list. She's the resident blurt-it-out-and-the-hell-with-the-consequences co-leader of the Star Patrol with a dim view on Longbow to begin with, and she's due for a conflict with Ms. Liberty and Longbow in Book 2 of THE COURSE OF SUPERHERO ROMANCE.

Thanks, H_B! *hugs*

The Nature of Incarnates:

Statesman is somehow linked to Zeus, while Recluse is somehow linked to Tartarus. What exactly is the nature of this link? Some believe it means is is "Zeus Incarnate" and is empowered by Zeus, a deity. Others hold that Zeus himself was a myth based around an Incarnate, and Statesman simply has inherited the same unit of power.

That said, how does Imperious fit into this? Is he also a Zeus Incarnate (whatever that means) or is he something else? Tyrant has different abilities than Statesman, did he get the same Zeus-Juice and is just expressing it differently, or is his power source different? I know little of Reichsman's powers, but the same question applys.

Myself and others have noticed that every version of Statesman is somehow tied thematically to the legal order of whatever universe they come from: Statesman represents the United States, clearly, Reichsman represents the Reich, which rules over Axis America, and Tyrant is himself the law in Praetoria. Imperious, if he counts, represents the Imperial legal system of Rome. Thematically, the idea that Statesman is "Law Incarnate" makes more sense than the whole Zeus thing. Are we just seeing something that isn't there?

Since my other question about Dark Astoria has been posted already, I have another that I have been curious about:

Why is Mercy Island half destroyed? It has never been explained that Arachnos had to attack it, but its massive level of devistation implies one hell of a bombardment.

And why is St Martial showing the same levels of devistation in some parts? Hell in some cases the buildings look like buildings from RWZ and Boomtown. It would seem that the battles with the Wailers might cause some damage, but not on this level.

My friend and I were wondering this the other day, and after playing pretty much every story arc in Villains, neither seems to be addressed.

Also, in CoV you have a mission to stop the rebuilding of Boomtown, is Boomtown going to be rebuilt at some time?

Indigo and Crimson (and Viridian?). They're agents of what exactly? Does the agency have a name, or is it just a sub-division of Longbow, since that's the group they're tagged as when we fight them as villains? And Viridian, is he a part of that agency, or is he just theme named by coincidence?

Thought I'd toss this one up for clarification.

This banner has been here at the very beginning of the Portal Corp Council Empire missions for awhile.

I know that from a gameplay standpoint this map pretty much uses the old Axis Amerika map while the 5th Column were around, and I figured it was just a low priority oversight on fixing the map. Although even that seemed odd as you see it immediately after zoning into the mission.

With everything that's been revealed about the 5th Column lately, I'm wondering, was this banner left intentionally, as subtle sign, or possibly started out as a bug, but the writers took it and wove into into the actual history of whats going on with the 5th Column and the Council?

2) In Arachnos, do the Arbiters (as a position) pre-date Recluse's rise to power? If so, do they consider themselves truly answerable to him (as their duty is to serve Arachnos itself). I mean sure they do as matter of course, but if they felt he was a threat to Arachnos itself...

[/ QUOTE ]
The Arbiter's were granted their authority by Recluse relatively recently and answer only to him.

Are you wishing you hadn't made this thread now?

OK, lore-wise. Dealing with Dark Astoria and a pet theory of mine.

Looking through in-game bits and pieces, we know Moth cemetery was ancient. We also get the impression that Astoria has been "Dark" before (in the 50s/60s) and reclaimed, to the point where it grew to what it was before the Banished Pantheon ritual.

Is Astoria supposed to be, or historically has it been, going through a cycle of being "dark" and "light?" And if so, are we looking at a reasonably frequent event, or just a long-term cycle that may have been sped up or broken by the Pantheon?

Related: Is Mot the sleeper, or are we dealing with another "sleeper" that the COT have bound - and when and why (I'm assuming shortly after arrival on these shores) did they bind him?

Woo! Awesome thread, yay! Wheeeee!

ASTORIA

When did The Incident that cast Astoria into gloom happen, precisely? All I've been able to discern is that it occurred shortly after the Rikti War... and I'm not even 100% on that. I seem to recall there having been in-game zone information (under the help menu) that's no longer there. Can that be posted, or has it been lost/rendered invalid?

Also, would it be possible to get some details on how The Incident played out? Was it a sudden thing, or did it unfold over days or even weeks?

It'd also be nice to have it verified that Astoria has always been... off... troubled... even before The Incident. Lotsa hauntings and like paranormal activity. That seem to be the implication in the lore, but it'd be good to have a confirmation on it.

Finally, are the zombie raids a result of Mot's expanding power? Or is it something you (the devs) haven't really thought about yet, or are keeping a mystery?

Thank you!

( I would like to now take a moment to offer my condolences to the ParagonWiki folks, for whom this thread will be the cause of lots and lots of work )

[/ QUOTE ]

The way I (unofficially, obviously0 see it:

1. Astoria's going to have a draw to mystics, regardless, as it's on a Ley Line. It even has - well, had - a rift to the netherworld. Also, the COT have something ("The sleeper") bound - which is also implied that the BP are trying to free/tap into.

2. 1953 - we know Astoria was dark.
Early 2000s - I'd say it's an assumption it was "light," or at least not as dark, given that there are heroes buried there from the Rikti war, as well as members of the Midnight Squad who died in an attack in 1999. Plus, it's a built up commercial area.

Just-post-Rikti-War 1 - BP ritual. Everyone inside killed, walled off as the city had no spare manpower to deal with it.

1920s... we don't know, just that Spanky Rabonwicz (however that's spelled) had a map of the area. On the plaque it's mentioned as "Dark astoria," but that doesn't *necessarily* mean the area was dark in the 20s, just that that's what it would be known as when the plaque was made.

(See my own question for a theory of cycling light/dark)

If you do all of the Snakes arcs, including the level 45+ ones, you get most of the answer on this one. One of the surviving Incarnates from the Age of the Titans, Stheno the Gorgon (sister of Medusa) lives under Mercy Island. Once she has hatched what she considers to be enough Cobra Trueborns, she tries to take the surface of the island. The gap between attempts runs to centuries, but the most recent one was only barely before Operation Destiny, probably some time around 2003 or 2004. What you're seeing is what's left of Darwin's Landing after Arachnos resorted to house-to-house fighting and aerial bombardment just to mostly reclaim the surface from the Snakes, to mostly push them back down into their holes. That's also why there's a separate Mercy Island to Port Oakes ferry, it's part of a joke of a quarantine that's blatantly unsuccessfully trying to keep the Snakes from reaching the other islands.

Beats me on St. Martial. My guess would be mad science gone awry (since whatever it was, the Freakshow obviously hope to dig it up), but there are no missions that refer to what went wrong in the Black Mariah neighborhood, nor any history plaques. I hope you get an answer on that one. As for the other end of the isle, it just looks like it does because it's a slum. All those fancy tourist hotels' minimum wage employees live somewhere, after all, and all the trash from those tourist dives has to get dumped somewhere.

The security chief says outright that the area has always been "Dark" Astoria to the residents of the city, regardless how the name is officially written on maps. The adjective seems to be related mainly to the fact that Moth Cemetery has always been spooky, even without the Pantheon, fog, zombies, and ghosts. All that we really know is that Dark Astoria was in some way changed from its normal state prior to 1953, and it was either a large enough problem or recent enough event at the time to be the subject of an oath sworn at the founding of a prominent SG.

The area may or may not have been recovered since the fifties, but the presence of built-up areas isn't really an issue even if it hasn't. I hear they had rudimentary streets and buildings in those ancient times...

is there a hidden plot in the MArc system that crey is useing to get the power information from both heros and villans?, and if so wil this be the key idea behind how the powers will be mix and matchible for "Goeing Rogue"

[/ QUOTE ]

The plot isn't hidden, it's blatantly spelled out in the introduction to MA missions. (Play my arc, #1152, "The Doctor Returns" for more and funnier information).

It won't be the key idea behind how powers will be mix and matchable for "Goeing Rogue" (sic) because Going Rogue won't have that feature.

Is Ace McKnight related to Ashley and Alistair McKnight and if so, how? I'd love to find out more about them and their family.

Excellent summary.

Also, Manti is going to have to have some stock responses ala, "Can't Touch That," "Ask Again Some Day," etc.

And lastly, level with me: Is Viridian really evil? Because half the time he comes off as a counter-counter-intelligence agent. What's with all the dealings with heroes of Paragon?

Thanks for undertaking this chore, Manitcore (you poor doomed fool).

Got a few questions regarding Praetorian Earth.
1 Is it really, as its so often called, a "mirror universe" - that is are the villains in our universe heroes over there?

If so:
1a) Has its always mirrored our universe or did the divergence occur more recently?

2)Or is really an alternate history where Statesman went rogue and everything that's different is fallout from that?

If so:
2a) What happened to the villains? Did they become even nastier? Or get wiped out since the evil Phalanx still wins the big fights?

Valkyrie. Here's what we know so far:[ QUOTE ]
Valerie Kellum was an up-and-coming archeologist exploring Scandinavia when she discovered what she first took for an ancient spear. A more careful examination led to the realization that the spear had a technological component. She traveled around Europe looking for ideas about its origin and ended up in a local Crey facility. When a Crey security team tried to take the weapon from her it activated and injected Valerie with advanced nanites that transformed her into Valkyrie, an extraordinary warrior with a completely different personality. She broke free and traveled to Paragon City where Positron is helping her come to terms with her new identity.

[/ QUOTE ]What's up with the spear?

Seems odd to have an advanced technological spear just sitting around. Are there more artifacts like this around? Where did they come from?

1. Were the old gods (Hequat, Ermeeth, Tielekku) Incarnates? What about the classic pantheon (Zeus, et al.)?

2. Is the spirit realm used by the ghosts in Veluta Lunata's arc the same as that in Croatoa?

3. What is the Netherworld? It's the canonical source of all Dark powers, and it seems to be inhabited by something, but otherwise there is no information on it.

4. Is the "Hell" that the CoT summon demons from an alternate dimension? Why does the Hordeling description say it has "sinners" and what are they?

5. What are the Spectral Daemons? Why do they looks so monstrous? (I have theories, but no evidence.)

6. How did Countess Crey get her psychic powers? This is especially puzzling since no other Crey troops are obviously psychic.

4b) Arachnos was originally an Italian based organization, and also played a role in the rise of Fascism in the government. Did they have any involvement with the 5th Column?

[/ QUOTE ]

This I do know somewhat. Arachnos was a large organization controlled by the Weaver. When Recluse took over, it split up into various groups (Arachnos headed by Recluse, Council by The Center, 5th Column by Requiem).

[/ QUOTE ]

Well, even that's wrong in part.

Arachnos split when Recluse took over, becoming Arachnos and The Council.

5th Column wasn't part of the split because it happened years before Hitler ordered the creation of the 5th Column. It's just when it was created The Council wanted to keep their fingers in it and sent Requiem to infiltrate the 5th Column as a sleeper agent to make the 5th Column into another arm of the Council when ordered to do so.

Requiem just liked being in command more than he liked being the #3 guy in the Council, which is why he commanded his troops to wait for the order to return as 5th Column.

I have a question about Honoree...

IN-GAME LGTF SPOILER FOLLOWS!!!!

.

.

In the story lore, what happens after Honoree is defeated? Is there a public or private funeral for him? Does the public know that he was really Hero-1?

And does the Rikti have any other "hostages" heroes like Honoree, like the other heroes who went missing (can't remember their names off the top of my head) after the war.

And usually within a minute of them starting to chatter, you consider leaving them with the Rikti.

In 2010 there will be a national census in the United States, home of Paragon City. Will US citizens who have merged with Kheldians count as one "person" in this census, or two?

[/ QUOTE ]

They are classified as one person for the census, but have to file separate tax forms each year.

Kheldians and their hosts hate tax time, where they have to try to work out who was doing what when they earned their income and split it accordingly. Especially since the whole 'host as a tax-exempt dependent' loophole was shut down after 1 in 10 Paragon inhabitants claimed to be a Warshade.
