The Banished Pantheon: What's the deal with them? Are the Shamans cultists willingly converted to releasing their trapped gods, or does the symbol on their chest suggest that they're slaves along with the zombies?

Also any interesting tidbits about Dark Astoria you'd be allowed to share would be great too.

One thing that was brought up concerning Going Rogue is that Desdemona shares a name with a pre-existing Rogue Isle contact, Desdemona the Glint who looks drastically different. This said:

-While I doubt it, are they alternate universe versions of each other?
-Does the demon summoning Desdemona have a real last name to clear up the possible upcoming name confusions?
-Does Desdemona the Glint have a proper backstory (including a real last name) since she shares a name with what is sure to be a major upcoming character?

Is there a Praetorian/Cimeroan version of Lord Recluse?

[/ QUOTE ]

Not sure if this has been answered or not... I heard from a source that the Tyrant killed the praetorian version of LR before he ever became LR - sorry that I don't have any specific details, but its my understanding that no, there is no Praetorian Lord Recluse.

In 2010 there will be a national census in the United States, home of Paragon City. Will US citizens who have merged with Kheldians count as one "person" in this census, or two?

This is entirely forum speculation.

The general Forumite consensus seems to be that Praetorian Marcus Cole, being the power hungry [censored] that he is, would have killed Stefan Richter once they found the Well of the Furies/got their powers.

I argue that there's no evidence that Praetorian Stefan Richter was ever friends/comrades/associates with his world's Marcus Cole, or that he was ever even AT the Praetorian's Well.

Also keep in mind, not all Praetorians are polar opposites of their Paragon versions. Malaise is just as crazy and evil in both worlds. People assume Tyrant would have been able to easily kill Praetorian Recluse because he (Recluse) would be bound by whatever upstanding code that our Statesman is, where Tyrant is not, meaning he (recluse) would try fighting fair, and die to Tyrant's underhandedness. Praetorian Recluse *could* be just as underhanded as he is on Primal Earth, or even more so.

Given how fond the Devs are of alternate versions of the Signature Characters, I doubt they would definitively cut off any of them from making future appearances is some version or another.

I guess basically what I'm saying is:

We don't know enough about Praetoria (or the Dev's intent regarding it) to even begin making assumptions about what characters may or may not exist there.

(That was directed at the forum goes in general, not anyone in specific.)

I'd love any more lore about the storm korps since I'm trying to refine an arc centered around them. The only one I know of that's named is Eisensturm. Are there more named ones?

1. This is rather specific I know, but important to a character's background and may as well ask: it's been noted that Paragon was not the only city hit by the first Rikti Invasion. Would Atlanta happen to be one of these cities?

2. Is Azuria really only about 25 as stated in her interview in the paper years ago? Or was this a cover and she's actually much older, explaining the discrepancy in Freedom Phalanx?

3. Is Imperious related to the Cole family line in any way, or is it just a wild coincidence they look alike?

4. Will Baron Zoria ever make a bigger appearance in game? What about the Thorns in general? I've always liked their group, but I feel like they fall by the wayside hero-side after 40.

[edit]
5. Last one, and probably been asked: does Recluse have a Praetorian version, and will we ever meet him if so?

Sean;

Thanks for the answers and for starting this new canon material thread. We've been starving for this info for years, really. Some of us, anyway. *heh*

If I may;

Who is in charge of Freedom Corp? What positions do the various members of the Cole family (Statesman, Miss Liberty, Ms. Liberty) hold in relation to whatever sort of board of directors it is that runs it? As far as I can tell, the general supposition that Miss Liberty runs Freedom Corp is based pretty much entirely on the fact that she signed the letter announcing the Jingle Jets.

Re: Dauntless

This is digging pretty deep, so I'll understand if it seems like too fine a detail to be covered by the story bible:

Dauntless is described in the Galaxy City backgrounder as "the young man called Dauntless". That always suggested a late teens or very early twenties boy to me. A job delivering sandwiches suggests likewise. I'm realizing, though that Kelly was more like 37'ish when Dauntless died rather than 42'ish as I'd originally imagined, which makes them closer in age than I might have thought.

What was the age difference between them? If he loved her romantically, would the reason for keeping it secret be that she felt paternal towards him?

On a related note, it appears that Kelly never married. Is that right? If so, is there a reason aside from "the right man never came along"?

I've wondered about this for a long while. When Ishmael of the Lost tried to psychically control the city, a hero known as The Grimm Fairy discovered the plot and stopped Ishmael herself. Afterward, she appealed to the Freedom Phalanx for help in rescuing some trapped citizens (and Sister Psyche discovered the amazing scope of the operation). However, she stopped Ishmael herself. This one person stopped a Lost pariah who's power was so vast that the psychic residue he left behind in Perez years ago still fuels the gang wars going on today.

What happened to her? She obviously had to have been incredibly powerful, but there's no mention of her anywhere else in the game.

How extensive was the Ritki war. Was it focused on Paragon City or was it global?

And how common where superheroes outside of America before the Ritki War? Was there a large population in Soviet Union, Europe and Asia?

Official Game History Read the whole thing, but specifically check out the entries on the Cold War, Globalism and Alien Invasion.

I believe Ishmael and his plot to enslave the mind of citizens (and everything else mentioned in the related history plaques, including the Grimm Fairy) was added off-the-cuff, primarily to rationalize a well-known glitch in King's Row. (The civilians would follow a path that had them bunch up and go back and forth at the set of slanted bunker doors that sits near the plaque across the street from the KR tram. Clearly, someone was mind-controlling them.) That's why she isn't mentioned anywhere else; unless she's a cameo of a dev's character, she was likely made up specifically for the Pariah history plaques.

No reason this should stop you from asking, but I'd not be surprised if the answer was that there simply wasn't any more story to tell.

Is there a Praetorian/Cimeroan version of Lord Recluse?

[/ QUOTE ]

I've always beleived the Cimeroroan version of LR was this guy: Marcus Valerius

Theres a physical similarity, he's best friends w/ the Statesman figure or at least stalwart shield-brothers. (As Stefan Rictor was w/ Marcus Cole) and he's big on testing you before he trusts you. His brusque manner is reminiscant of Stefan's.

Of course, considering his name, it might be interesting to postulate he may be the real Statesman alternate, and Imperious (a character known mostly by his 'code-name') is the Lord Recluse of his time..

However, Marcus Valerius also has a shield-brother named Gaius Severa who was killed jumping in front of a blow meant for him. But then again, Marcus Cole and Stefen used to have a tight little gang around them too, back in the day.

Two questions.

1) At the end of Janet Kellum's arc "The Evil Countess Crey" (40-44), Countess Crey has been arrested and is in custody. But 45+ villain arcs (e.g. Viridian's) show the Countess at liberty. What happened to her in between? Was she cleared of charges (perhaps through underhanded legal maneuverings), or did she escape? This is an important distinction because it affects her legal standing in Paragon City (if not the Isles).

2) Dr. Aeon's bio on the City of Heroes web site implies he was originally known as "Carl Egon", who reportedly possessed the ability to summon aid through trans-dimensional portals (presumably said aid being other dimensions' versions of himself). However, when heroes encounter him in the STF, his summons battle-cry implies that he is summoning versions of himself across time instead (a view of his powers supported by his own name, and also by his relationship to Professor Echo). What's the real story?

And for a while things were cold,
They were scared down in their holes
The forest that once was green
Was colored black by those killing machines

I was aware of that. It also rationalizes why the Hellions and Skulls, the two of the weakest villain groups, are so thoughtless as to fight each other when there are super-powered beings breathing down their necks.

But the general rule of lore is that there can always an answer. If there isn't one already lined up, the author can make one. It's possible that whether or not my question can be answered depends on the author of the plaque still working on CoX.

Covered in-game: Marshall Brass, "The Aeon Conspiracy" and "Echo Down the Aeons," level 15-20 villains. Capsule summary: Carl Egon did built a remote-control portal to hell and used it to assassinate the previous governor of Cap au Diable. This was over-the-top even by Etoile Islands standards, so he "stood trial" and "was executed" on TV, then given a new name and face and installed as Governor Aeon. His real identity is a closely guarded Arachnos secret. He no longer has the particular hardware that he used to tap into hell (see Golden Roller), but is busy with other goofy ideas in the meantime (see about half of the villain arcs from level 15 to 50, and the Statesman Task Force). When you see him in the STF, he's summoning alternate-universe versions of himself through Arachnos' dimensional portal in Grandville.

Where did the original recipe for Superadine come from?

[/ QUOTE ]
I forget the source, but I'm pretty sure I remember the canonical explanation: Nemesis. (He is, among other things, a chemical engineer.) He was fascinated by Dark Watcher, but couldn't capture him because the rest of Freedom Phalanx were too good, and he couldn't find another plane-walker to experiment on. So he decided to flood the world with superhero origins in hopes of catching a level 1 mutant with the same powers as Dark Watcher. It worked. He leaked the results of those experiments to scientists who set up yet another Nemesis front corporation, called Portal Corporation.

(It is, unlikely, however, that, upon discovering the secret of interdimensional travel and setting up a corporation to develop it, he said, "This is a triumph. I'm making a note here: big success. It's hard to overstate my satisfaction.")

I've got a theory, I've got a theory...

Regarding the Khan TF (spoilers for upcoming I15):

It seems from the Paragon Diaries that Requiem is no longer in charge of the resurgent 5th and has barricaded himself into his base. So, someone's displaced him in order to put the Reichsman in charge. Requiem would NEVER stand down voluntarily.

I think Schadenfreude is the Axis America version of Nosferatu, possibly contacted and brought across by Requiem himself in a bid for help, and it's Schadenfreude who's behind the whole thing.

Is this anything like the truth?

Well, we ARE talking about the physical manifestation of a being who's soul apparently manifests each main facet independently.

Based on info I found on the web @cohwiki.

Father Gerard Henri was a French Jesuit priest who traveled to the Rogue Islands in the 17th-Century (which is the 1600s-1700)

In the 1830's, an aged Father Henri took it upon himself to put to rest the Spectral Pirates that haunt Fort Hades on the island of Port Oakes.

That's a very long lifespan, what is the reason behind that? and is the info correct about his long lifespan? There's also info that he was a 'monk' not a priest. Could you please clarify which one he is. It also said he found out through "mysterious" ways about the children of enos/french settlers conflict in the Rogue Islands. Is it meant to be ambiguous?

4) Of all the zones in the Rogue Isles that Longbow could have established in a base in, what the hell possessed them to choose NERVA?! Grandville, I could see... Cap, I could see... but NERVA?!

[/ QUOTE ]
Nerva Archipeligo technically isn't part of the sovereign Etoiles. They're disputed territory and "overseen" by the UN right now. So Longbow has a leg to stand on when they set up shop there, as opposed to secret bases and submarine pens around the Rogue Isles-proper.

[/ QUOTE ]

Ahhhhhhhhh. Okay, that I can sort of buy.

Of course, it doesn't exactly help my opinion of Longbow that they're skulking around Mercy and got Agincourt over in Nerva when they've proven incapable of protecting the Paragon City Hall parking lot. (Unless those are the Longbow that REALLY screwed up elsewhere and that's Ms. Liberty's ideal of lavatory-detail for Longbow.)

After using larcenous means to fund mercenaries of questionable legal standing, consorting with terrorists, having mafia ties, recruiting dangerous zealots and calling them heroes, serial corruption, being the origin of the Nullifier Gun that Malta uses to kill real heroes, establishing a secret listening-post staffed by foreign nationals with intent to listen in on all private communications in Paragon they deem "suspicious", and being led by an individual responsible for the devastation of a community that formed the organization partly out of intent to make her mother angry, I don't think this will hurt their reputation much...
