When did The Incident that cast Astoria into gloom happen, precisely? All I've been able to discern is that it occurred shortly after the Rikti War... and I'm not even 100% on that.

[/ QUOTE ]

There's a historical plaque in Astoria that implies it has been this way for over fifty years (and yes, I believe there is other information that contradicts this, but I don't recall where):

"When the Freedom Phalanx became an officially recognized Super Group in 1953, the hero Vambrace made a pledge. 'Dark Astoria will be restored to its natural state,' he said. 'The Freedom Phalanx is committed to saving every part of Paragon City, even those that may seem lost. "

And to avoid my making a new post to reply to him... Venture said:

[ QUOTE ]
The Clockwork King is not being kept alive by some technological means. He is alive because he will not die. His own psychic power is sustaining his brain. Yes, that's violating the laws of physics but around here this is "two for flinching"

[/ QUOTE ]

My point isn't "how is he being kept alive" but rather "how did performing auto brain surgery (including reattachment of his eyes, which aren't exactly removable intact), while wounded and dying, not instantly kill him or at least cause severe damage unrelated to his madness?"

I can believe that he "nourishes" his brain psychically or whatever (to the point that I didn't even bother asking about his life support, though I've wondered). However, that's a far cry from total invulnerability to harm, which he clearly did not possess. It's difficult to believe that someone largely ignorant of neural anatomy could *remotely remove his own brain* without cutting into something important (such as whatever portion of the brain gives him his powers), killing himself or giving himself brain damage with the ensuing loss of blood pressure, or any of a hundred other likely mistakes, no matter how much he "refuses to die".

In any case, while I appreciate the thought, this thread is about looking for in-canon answers and lore.

Unless you are saying that either the game or the devs have said that he survived because "will not die", such a response is no more justified here than saying that the surgery was REALLY performed by his best friend Larry Vahzilok who is the bestest surgeon in the world (behind his more famous brother), and that the patient survived because they had previously found a jar full of magical nanobots (which are cyan in color) in a liquid that tastes like delicious fruit pie ... the very same jar that even now houses the nefarious Clockwork King! (dun dun dunnnnn).

Or simply saying that the King can actually teleport his brain out of his human body.

I don't mind people making suggestions (as I do it myself) or speculating, but only the devs can give any real answer to my questions or assumptions, unless there's something in game that I missed.

What was the original event behind the zombie hordes? Was it a deliberate act or some kind of magical accident? Is it a side effect of the troubles in Salamanca and Astoria?

How much do the midnighters know about this and what are they hiding?

I've been wondering about this for a few days. Perfect time for this thread.

*glee* What a wonderful chance to get some sticky points cleared up! Thank you Manticore!

I have a couple questions regarding Kheldian physiology:

1) When a Kheldian "moves in"/merges/bonds with a host, does that act permanently alter their host in tangible ways, such as their DNA? In the Shadowstar epic arc "An Absence of Shadows", Lars Mendelson mentions he can still feel Altered Umbra out there after *spoiler*, so it seems there's at least a telepathic link, but was Lars physically changed by his merging with the Warshade Altered Umbra, and if so are physical changes from merging with a Kheldian permanent?

2) We learn in "Shadow Science" that Galaxy and Quantum units (especially Void Hunters) are made from N-Fragments which are either broken-down fragments of weak Nictus or fragments made through other means. Is this solely a Nictus thing or are the Peacebringer Kheldians capable of the same "fragmentation"?

Manticore,

Since this isn't I15 testing section I'm going try to keep this Spoiler light as possible.

What is the Council's reaction to Requiem's Roman/Time Traveling adventures?

Is there a discernable difference betwen the 5th Column under Reichsman and the 5th Column under Requiem? I could understand a "5th Column from another Dimension" as opposed to "We're tired working for that Requiem tool."

2) In Arachnos, do the Arbiters (as a position) pre-date Recluse's rise to power? If so, do they consider themselves truly answerable to him (as their duty is to serve Arachnos itself). I mean sure they do as matter of course, but if they felt he was a threat to Arachnos itself...

[/ QUOTE ]
The Arbiter's were granted their authority by Recluse relatively recently and answer only to him.

I also have an i15 lore question. *spoilers just in case you haven't played the heroside 5th TF yet*

Is it really supposed to be the 5th who want to bring Reichsman back? As of now, the 5th have been back in time, still led by Requiem, and are only now starting to come back to the present. With no mention of Requiem in the TF, is this his 5th that is bringing back Reichsman or is it a splinter group of 5th who are tired of him as their leader? I feel that this is a huge plot hole at the moment and hope to get it cleared up if possible. Thanks in advance.

4) Of all the zones in the Rogue Isles that Longbow could have established in a base in, what the hell possessed them to choose NERVA?! Grandville, I could see... Cap, I could see... but NERVA?!

[/ QUOTE ]
Nerva Archipeligo technically isn't part of the sovereign Etoiles. They're disputed territory and "overseen" by the UN right now. So Longbow has a leg to stand on when they set up shop there, as opposed to secret bases and submarine pens around the Rogue Isles-proper.

Do we know the role for the Circle of Thorns in Praetoria yet? If they're good, or no different then here... or perhaps much more sinister? I'm writing a bio involving them and there seems to be no information I could find.

Ooooh, lore question time!

I had a question on the origin of Dark Astoria, but Hydrophidian already beat me that, so I'll just say "seconded!" to his questions.

Another couple though:

1) Is Armstrong the only base established on the moon, or do other nations or factions have their own facilities up there?

2a) Was the "planetary devourer" that presumably brought the Shivans to Bloody Bay sent by the beings responsible for the Coming Storm, or did they just use the Shivans later as a tool of opportunity when the time for invasion came?

2b) How were the Arcosians aware of Earth and why did they send pods warning of the devourer?

3) A little closer to home, the Knives of Artemis: Is there any data about their internal organization or command structure? I have an arc where I make some guesses (*cough* #2350 *cough*), but I'd like to know if there's any official info about them.

C'mon, Ian, you're not even trying!

And, if I may be so bold without putting my foot in my mouth re: some earlier posts:

[ QUOTE ]
1) Is there a set costume for either of the two? Invisible Falcon never really appears, as far as I know, and Shining Light is only shown in a Paragon Protector outfit (again, as far as I know).

[/ QUOTE ]

Wouldn't it look almost identical (ala the other Praetorians) to Invisible Falcon's Praetorian-self, Ghost Falcon?

[ QUOTE ]
Where did the original recipe for Superadine come from?
Was Dr. Karl Egon involved with the development of Superadine?

[/ QUOTE ]

I thought the in-game arcs were rather implicit in suggesting heavy-handedly that it was Nemesis. After all, Nemesis supplies the family with it, who sells it to the Trolls. The Trolls spread it around, have visions of other dimensions and get Dr. Webb involved. Nemesis steals Dr. Webb's technology, prepares the Rikti pre-invasion, escapes into another dimension, and let's the Shard Expeditionary group colonize the Shadow Shard, which he eventually colonizes with his bases. Of course, Dr. Webb would be captured and tortured by the Reichsmann, so again--almost everything in-game is from either the Well of Furies or is a Nemesis Plot.

Whee!

Well, obviously he never appears, he's Invisible!

My questions have to do with everyone's favorite mad seer, Diviner Maros. Namely:

1) What exactly is his relationship with the rest of the Circle? Is he a proper member of the Circle of Thorns that the rest of them are just afraid of, or does he really operate on his own?

2) What happened to him at the end of Time After Time? Where'd he go? What's he doing now?

I've written an arc (#149765) with Crey as the main antagonists. I plan on making it a three Act story revolving around the Revenant Hero Project, as well as some other Crey projects I made up. I wanted to use Invisible Falcon and Shining Light, but I also want them to be as accurate as possible. Is there any way I can get the following questions answered?

1) Is there a set costume for either of the two? Invisible Falcon never really appears, as far as I know, and Shining Light is only shown in a Paragon Protector outfit (again, as far as I know).

2) How about powersets? No clue on Invisible Falcon, though Shining Light seems to be electricity based.

3) Is there a list of other heroes believed kidnapped (or ones whose bodies were stolen) by Crey for use in the Revenant Hero Project? If so, where can I find information on them to answer questions 1 and 2 for each?

[/ QUOTE ]
1) Ghost Falcon is heavily implied to be an alternate-universe Invisible Falcon, who was evil and then mind-control-reformed by Good Crey. You could swipe his costume directly, or make a few alterations.

2) Ghost Falcon's bio makes mention of him having a mental link to his teammates, so apparently he has psychic powers. If Invisible Falcon was also psychic, it might explain where a certain other someone got their inexplicable psionic powers.

3) Beats me. There might not be a list. You can always take the powersets of the Paragon Protectors encountered in-game and make something up. The Fire and Darkness guys are surely the most recent additions, since they're higher level (farther along in the timeline) and seem more advanced than the others.

Well, as far as when goes.... September 19, 1809.

Oh, and another question (or two) about Kheldians:

Is it the position of the Devs that Kheldians (Peacebringers/Warshades) Do not, Can Not, or Will Not join with metahumans?

If not, Why then is it that Metahuman Hosts never ever use any of their preexisting powers ever again? (Which could have been represented by Ancillary or Tertiary power pools of the various elemental types/etc)

The backstory of my Peacebringer is that he/she/it (Third Question; Do they HAVE genders?) joined with my Forcefield/Psychic Blast Defender, but it doesn't make sense that he would never use any of his bubbles, or Psychic powers anymore.

What's the story on Impervium?

Is it found naturally or manufactured?

Who discovered/invented it?

Thus far, it seems only U.N. military organizations with unlimited budgets have access to it. What's the market like? (i.e. is it Top Secret technology that only Vanguard has access to? Or is it just so rare and so expensive that only a few metallurgists can work with it, thus making it exhorbitantly priced?)

Oh, thank Prime!

1) Where IS the Rogue Isles island chain? In some places it says 50 miles offshore of Rhode Island, in one other place 500. (Which frankly makes more sense. Having another country be west of Long Island makes less sense than having one north of Bermuda.)

2) What IS the legal status of the Nerva Archipelago? British Commonwealth? American protectorate? Completely independent NATO member? It's got a French name (the Etoiles), when did it pass out of French hands?

3) Are Primeva, Thorn Isle, and/or the Abyss in the same country as Crimson Cove, Hero Heights, and Agincourt, or are they (legally) "empty" islands north of there?

4) Were Primeva, Thorn Isle, the Abyss, Crimson Cove, and Hero Heights part of the Etoile Islands country, are they parts of the Etoiles that Lord Recluse never conquered? Or did he stop where he did because he'd reached the borders of the Etoiles?

5) Fill in the missing blanks, please? MERCY: Governor _____, Marshall _____. OAKES: Governor (vacant), Marshall _____. DIABLE: Governor Aeon, Marshall Brass. SHARK: Governor Cage (right?), Marshall _____. ST.M: Governor Sonata (right?), Marshall _____. GV: Governor _____, Marshall _____ (neither applicable? Recluse & Daos?). WB: Governor _____ (vacant?), Marshall _____ (I know this one's in game, I'm just not remembering it this minute).

6) Fill in the missing blanks, please? President of the US _____, Rhode Island governor _____, Rhode Island senior senator _____, Rhode Island junior senator _____, Rhode Island US Representative _____, Paragon City Mayor _____.

I don't have a specific question, but I would definitely be interested in any more information about the Shadow Shard and Rularuu.
Also, I'd love to see it turned into a co-op zone with the Vanguard taking over Firebase Zulu. It makes just as much sense as them fighting the Rikti if you think about it.

The 50 miles one makes more sense. Firstly, there are no tropical trees in the Rogue Isles save for the Spongebob easter egg in the southwest corner of Cap au Diable. Secondly, the French colonists from the Cult of Enos ran into the Etoiles while heading for North America. Thirdly, the land of the Mu Nation was raised from the ocean floor by Hequat nearby to Ouranbega.
