What Other Wasted Cities Exist Beyond First Ward? How Was First Ward Run Before Its Destruction? Was It Always Called First Ward?

THIS TOON IS NOW A HERO!

What are the requirements for getting a Super Hero License, or whatever it is called, and, even though it is a game mechanic, how do heroes in lore gain security level? Is there are team of people who are constantly recording and writing reports of hero activity whenever a villain gets sent to prison or killed?

Question: Does Lord Recluse (Or his lab techs) actively try to develop new armor and weapons? There's hints and bits of Arachnos-Rikti hybrid armor from a newspaper mission, but we don't physically see the suit in question (Which makes me make this face: whenever I do that mission.)

From the rest of things, it seems like Arachnos hasn't updated its' weaponry and armor in some time, at least since the Bane spiders were introduced some decade-ish ago.

Question: Are costume sets such as Celestial and Elemental Order actually used by any groups in the CoH/V universe? Several outfits are shown to be used by villain or allied groups (Roman, Vanguard, Arachnos armor, Circle of Thorns, Crey armor, Clockwork) and others are within plausible deny-ability (Martial arts robes, biker gear, etc)

Question: Lore wise, are powers categorized into 'powersets' based on apperance and fuction, or do heroes and villains actually manifest power from the pools available? For instance, a tech origin hero having their powers classified as 'Fire blast' simply for using flame based weaponry? Or a magic origin having their powers classified as 'Street Justice' despite augmenting their strength and speed with magical power?

Or is there a deliberate muddy distinction between what supers can do lore-wise and obvious game mechanic limitations to allow players to be a little fanciful in describing how their character attacks and what they can do?

Are you seriously considering raising the level cap? That is the worse idea I have ever heard. I consider the level cap escalation to be the primary reason why Everquest is screwed up today. Once you get on that treadmill you have to keep creating more and more content for the people who pet at the max level, and they will demand you raise the level cap again to accomodate them and then you will have to create more content for them and they will demand you raise the level cap again.

Meanwhile, all the players who are not into power gaming (such as myself) feel more and more alienated and left out, eventually quitting simply because the game morphs into something they can't deal with and don't want to bother with.

For a very long time I have been talking up CoH as a game people who hate level cap escalation can play and not be part of that endless grind. Don't make me out a liar, please.

No, they're not going to raise the level cap beyond 50. Ever.

Hence the Incarnate system--level shifts that raise your effective combat ranking during certain content. Outside of that content, you have access to nifty new abilities, but you're still considered level 50 (or 50+1 at the most) for the purposes of all gear collection and combat in regular missions.

Also: this isn't really a lore question, it's a game mechanics question.

Question 1: It's been noted that Recluse seeks (or at least, seeked) a way to disconnect himself from the Well but keep his power. Have there been any significant attempts at this in the past, and is he still trying?

Question 2: It's been a little confusing for me, but some say gods do not exist, they are incarnates. Looking through the Lore, War Witch states Gods do exist, while Prometheus states that Zeus and Tartarus were incarnates. Does this mean War Witch is wrong, Prometheus is wrong, are they both right etc.? From what I've seen, what neither says contradicts the other, it's entirely possible that the rest of Greek Pantheon were infact Gods, and judging by what War Witch states, the Well itself can be considered a God, as it were. I'd just like a little more of a definitive answer.

The Greek gods were incarnates. Sometimes that incarnate power diffuses back into the well, and sometimes that whole concept or meme is passed on wholesale, ala "Incarnate of Zeus/Tartarus."

The game, however references a "higher" being overseeing everything on a number of occasions. The recent DA stuff seems to hit fairly close to Christian mythology, but that might just be my own interpretation.

There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.

As I understand it, yes - if you take the WEB OF ARACHNOS novel into account, plus in-game story stuff, he's been trying to synthesize the effects of the Well, both by using additional water taken from it (albeit an impure sample since removing a pure sample was supposedly impossible), using his own blood, etc. (I believe the whole PROJECT: FURY thing relates to it, but would need to double-check.)

Recluse is a technocrat of the highest order - according to him, EVERYTHING can be explained via science/technology EVENTUALLY. And if the Well works on any sort of faith, cutting it off from its source of worship could be seen as a potentially catastrophic event.

So runs my theory anyway.

Is there anything like a timeline of events for Praetoria? My search-fu is weak.

Specifically, I'm looking for how much of the earth in Praetoria is taken over by the Hamidon's forces. Islands like Hawaii and Australia for example.

Also....billboards in game. A set of them make mention of "Blackwell Industries". Any lore on Blackwell him/herself?

Hm, that does make sense, and with Hercules and the like, it would be logical to assume that the previous Golden Age of Super Powered Heroes was reffering to the Greek Myths.

Plus, I guess it's safe to say that Hequat and Tiellekku are Gods, given their need for Worship instead of a reliance on the Well.

Hrm... that does seem to make sense, come to think of it.

I guess I asked because of an RP hook I have for my character. He's done exstensive research on the Well, and news of this reached Recluse's ears. Whether or not he knows a way to disconnect an entity from the Well is a mystery, even to him, but it would be reasonable to assume the guy knows something valuable, at least. If Recluse was still obsessed with this desire, it would be rational to assume he'd have an interest in the poor guy; leave no stone unturned, as it were.

We know of Shroud City, which was nuked, which started the rise of Hamidon and the Devouring Earth in Praetorian Earth.

This would most easily be explained by young Shalice mind-riding (either voluntarily or accidentally) for a total of ten years during her preteen and/or teen years. As she doesn't physically age while her mind is somewhere else, she could then have been physically 16 in 1946 but still have been born in 1920.
