Question about Nemesis. Before he became a villain, I read somewhere that he was a toymaker. However, the game seems to be unclear about WHY he became a villain. Did he just decide that he could use his mechanical genius to rule the world or what?

It's a Nemisis (toy) plot

If I remember right his family made their money as arms dealers, and when his brother challenged him to make something "useful," it went haywire and killed the brother. He goes on to make weapons that get used in the American Civil War, and finally starts using his weapons in his own criminal ventures in the 1930s.

While running laps in Port Oakes, beatin' on Family, I came upon this. I don't recall seeing it before. It appears to be CoT in origin, but it's in the street (location: -945.9 63.5 -597.6 just South of the building we pay rent) where a manhole cover should be, and it is the only one I could locate. So, anyone know what this is or if it's just a zone decor item I've somehow missed for four and a half years?
I think it's a magical seal to maintain the bind holding Bat'Zul: I found another larger one near the north end of Cap Au Diable near the PTS transfer station where you would find the Gremlins.
|
To the best of my knowledge, I've only seen designs like this in Oran maps, in Nerva out near the Thorn Tree, and by a couple isolated mission doors in the Hollows. In each case, the symbols are clearly linked to CoT in some fashion or another, but this is in the middle of an intersection in Port Oakes. If you exit the Arachnos headquarters building, where we pay base rent, and turn to face due south you should be able to see the intersection. Hovering over the intersection or just walking around it, the symbol is easy to find. It's about the size of a manhole cover and sticks out in a way that makes me think "There's no way I've been running these streets all these years working on the Gangbuster badge without noticing this before." It sure has me stumpted, for now.

There's a lot of storyline on Redside that isn't fully explored and has been dropped HARD on the backburner, if not shelved completely.
This could be part of a larger storyline, perhaps dealing with the Blood of the Black Stream, perhaps with the Bat'Zul, or even part of something dealing with Fort Hades. Frankly, Major T's theory about it having to do with Bat'Zul makes the most sense to me, since Port Oakes and Cap Au Diable are on the same island. It's probably a bit of an extra mystical reinforcement on the infernal prison. |
Following T's tip, I went to Cap looking for this symbol, I found five of them, set into rocky areas just north of the University. You can find them where you see the swirling white lights along cliff faces.
So, now I'm more inclinded to believe there is some story related connection here. It could be a left over from some plotline never fully developed, or just an obscure element to an existing plotline that I've missed while playing red side. Ultimately, I do not think we can determine exactly when the symbol was in that location in PO. Regardless, it was an entertaining little mystery, and remains unsolved for now. Maybe the Devs and time will reveal more information about these symbols and the dancing white lights that often accompany them... I wonder... are the lights in Cap and Nerva connected somehow to the dancing white lights found in The Hollows? |

I'd class that as an "Easter Egg" if anything. TY for bringing it to my attention though. I LOVES Easter eggs

But yes, it was one of the oddities I noticed at the time. I was significantly MORE shocked when, during some zone event or another (zombie apocalypse possibly), the disk was NOT in it's accustomed position - just blank asphalt. It faded back in when the event ended.
I wouldn't really call this an "easter egg" per se, since such are often difficult to locate, and this is out in the open. The (Easter?) Egg Hunter badge and Developer's Dungeon under Grandville are good examples.
Where to find me after the end:
The Secret World - Arcadia - Shinzo
Rift - Faeblight - Bloodspeaker
LotRO - Gladden - Aranelion
STO - Holodeck - @Captain_Thiraas
Obviously, I don't care about NCSoft's forum rules, now.

But yes, it's been there from the beginning.

I would like a sticky for SG base component requests, like there is for costume part request.
I want waterfalls and wall plants and hanging plants! And a Zen sand garden! And some Asian shrines and a large cross or crucifix. Where do I post that?
And, when is someone going to ensure that ALL defeat all mishes are stated as such in the nav window? The devouring earth mishes are notorious for saying save the office workers and defeat so and so, but it's really a kill all. I've fallen for that one too many times! Working back through an already painted map is frustrating.

In the introduction to Grandville, references are made to Elisa Silk and Marshall Mayhem. I don't believe they are referenced in-game. Who are they, and are they still around?

Considering the Superadine connection, I figured that Consiglieres had access to a certain "refined" batch/recipe which produced those powers with fair reliability and none (or much fewer) of the green, thuggish side effects that come when you cut it with God-knows-what.

In what year and battle did Marcus Cole experience the gas attack that left him crippled?
Question from Robert B of the Player Help forums.
Why are not the subway lines (Green/Yellow) connected at common transfers points in the same building? I've always wondered about this, while I cannot claim to have ridden every subway system in the world, everyone that I have been a rider on, if there is multiple lines (say North-South and East West) there have always been transfer points within a single building, yet with CoH the two lines are often separated by most of the zone (take Steel Canyon for example). |
Are the representations of the Banished Pantheon Deities in the City of Heroes Comic series accurate to the game canon?
Additionally, if at all possible (in private or public) could you please let me know how accurate my educated guesses on their powers are?
Lughebu - Illusion Control to represent his cunning and controlling nature.
Ninjitsu for Hide, Blinding Powder, Smoke Flash, and the improved survival (not to meantion that Assassin Strike Criticals from Blind and Spectral Wounds are DEADLY!).
I would also like to give him Teleport.
Ullutay - Plant Control (although I'd like to restyle it all as Bones and goop, instead of vines and leaves).
Mental Manipulation to represent his deception and give him access to World of Confusion.
Tomdala - Gravity Control (although I'd like to alter it so instead of propelling random objects, he propels /himself/, and make all his abilities melee-range).
Willpower chosen since it seemed to offer the best protection against Psionics, seeing as Sister Psyche's blast didn't really do much to him in the comic.
M'Teru - Sword (although it should be a spear).
Super Strength. I was going for an all-out raging monster in this case, and wanted to give him suitably monstrous damage output.
Rambetu - Electric Melee (although I'd want to use Claws and give them an Energy damage type along with the Lethal, and add Endurance Drain).
Super Reflexes as she appears to be quite agile and fast.
She also has Flight.
I also had an idea for a special gimmick for each of the Deities which would make them considerably more challenging. But why spoil the surprise in the public? If you do send me a private message, Manticore, I'd be happy to reply with this proposal.
Thanks for this opportunity! Great threads so far!
I'll vouch for those Banished Deities of yours to be disturbingly powerful Archvillains, Vile. Particularly when they work together as a team *shudders*. Though their lack of a healer or buffer at least offers players an openning. And you're a sick, twisted, and pervertedly sadistic monster if you manage to convince the Devs to implement your "extra challenge."
But, yeah, what's going on with the Banished Pantheon, Manticore? They're more of a joke at this point, than terrifying dark gods. Their minions seem more like a silly and campy lark than a major threat.
And what's the connection with Mot? Don't the Banished Five predate Mot by a couple thousand years? Why do they look up to him? Or are they just trying to release/awaken Mot as a distraction to be used against the Goddess who imprisoned them?
And THEN there's the whole Dark Astoria temporal paradox thing. I swear there's been some retconning in that zone . . .
Two months since our last update, c'mon Manti! I know you're lurking about!

My suspicion is that Mr. Fish has simply been too busy to interact with the forum. As one of the... lore consultants... he's probably responsible for helping Dr. Aeon and the writing crew work out how all of the Praetorian critters are related to their Primal critters, and exposing the dual nature of the Praetorian behavior through the story. As a note, we haven't really seen Dr. Aeon mucking it up with Television in the forums for a few weeks now.
... I wonder if Aeon's team needs another writer (I'm available! I'll move!)
Villains fight her in 1963, but it's not clear if she's native to that time period or has journeyed through time herself.
If she did not travel through time, does she age at a reduced rate due to her parentage because it does seem unlikely that she would have a child Ms. Liberty's age if she was already an adult in 1963 ...
While reduced aging is probable, it not entirely necessary if both Monica and Alexis put off having kids until their early to mid 30s which doesn't seem like too much of a stretch.
