Quote:The press release is a clear as mud about these things and this thread isn't helping. Most of my concerns at this point mirror Snow Globe's.. I figured if I made a reply that was provably false, the internet would correct me quickly so thank you for that.Wrong, Kaibaman. You posted with out reading at all. They're account-wide.
More chicken littles who don't even look up before calling wolf. Weird analogy, I know.
I'm not spending money on this until they offer it as a separate costume pack. Dealing with the RNG while playing the game is one thing. Dealing with RNG when real money is involved is where I draw the line.
I like buying costume pieces, I don't need all of the other crap. Other than the temp powers I've never used any of the rewards they've given me for free. It's one thing I've learn with the cash shop BS is they love their sales, when they go on sale for 1/2 price six months later, call me and I might be interested.
side rant: I hate the phrase "voting with your wallet", because voting "no" is the same as "not participating" and we all know how empowered people who don't vote are. Also, in case you haven't notice there is no lack of time-consuming things to spend your money these days. -
So if I understand correctly:
I spend $18 and I have a chance to have this costume pack unlocked on one character?
PASS.
NCSOFT Dev people, if you need to up the price on some of your newer costume sets say so. I don't mind spending a little extra every couple of months provided any costume sets unlock globally.
This is a money sink and not a very good one. If the costume pieces were global unlocks I *MIGHT* consider trying to get these. I wouldn't even mind if this costume set was obtainable through the Incarnate system.
BTW if anyone considers paying an agreed amount of currency for an agreed upon product "entitlement" you are high. This is bordering on hucksterism. People want things and are willing to pay, adding a lotto aspect is like adding DLC and Online Pass Codes, it creates a enough of a barrier that make people seriously consider finding a new hobby.
I'm not going to buy these because eventually they'll wise up and rotate out of circulation after they figure out that it's not selling anymore or the game will end. I'm sorry, but this is a bridge too far for me. -
Quote:Account-wide Cimeroran (Roman) unlockI do agree. Time saving items such as this have made my costume creation and playtime a bit more enjoyable
.
Glad to see you're enjoying it as well.
As long as we're talking about it, are there any other time vs. convenience options like the cape and aura unlock service you could see being a desirable Market offering?
Either add the TF commander epaulettes to the store or add them as a reward for Invader. If I want a Villain to have the costume piece I have to go Rogue and then run the TFs.
Recipe-based costume pieces.
I'd say add "off-season" holiday costume unlock offers: Christmas pieces in July, that sort of thing.
Non-Incarnate specific costume items from the Astral/Empyrean stores. I'd rather spend paragon points for some of the items and save the merits for Ascension Armor unlocks. -
Okay,
Used the -verify command with the old updater which seems to have fixed the problem. -
-
Quote:This is more accurate, it hangs after I enter my password and click "Log in" but I do not see the EULA page in either LIVE or BETA.Do you get to the screen after login to accept the EULA? If it hangs before you see that screen it likely isn't the serverlist causing the problem, but I don't have an idea on what it would be.
ALSO: If you have a shortcut to CoH on your desktop(not the launcher itself) you can try adding
-verify
to the Target line, outside of the quotes of the file that is in that box, with a space between the endquote and the dash of verify.
That will have a separate thing verify your files against the server, as I understand it a separate/alternative method for the "Repair (Consistency Check)" built into the launcher.
I was able to run the -Verify switch, it ran, but it didn't fix the problem. Tried running the game in "Safe mode" and it didn't work either. -
Thanks for the quick response Freitag.
I tried running the repair (consistency check) on both the Live and Beta Clients several times. No dice.
Also tried running the live client in Safe Mode, same result.
Anything else? -
Hey guys,
I'm having a problem getting into the game. I'm able to open the NCSoft launcher and I'm able to run the Live client. I can get to the CoH login screen, but after I put in my username and password the screen hangs.
I know we just have the server list merge but is there something I'm missing? I've been trying to update the client and have it run the repair, but no dice.
I can get into Test but not Beta, so it sounds like the problem is with the server list merge.
Any suggestions? -
Not sure if it's an oversight or by design, but the blaster smoke grenades cannot take Accurate DeBuff sets.
-
Is there something wrong with the graphic? I can't see it, keeps trying to load, but no dice.
-
Even with that mission fixed I still think Ace McKnight still walks away with the title "Biggest ****** in City of Heroes".
A man so irritating even his own henchmen want to beat the crap out of him. -
Here's the 64 Billion INF question:
By Inherent do they mean: "Doesn't take one of your 4 power pool choices." or does it mean: "You get four free powers that you can spend slots on, freeing up an average of three powers to existing builds."
My own experience with Fitness: I've taken it as early as possible on every character with the exception of Masterminds. I've only used two slots (one for health and one for stamina) for the powers unless I have Healing/Endurance Procs.
I'm for anything that changes the status quo significantly and this certainly does that.
I'm going to have a lot of fun redesigning my characters when this hits. Plus I'll have my City Traveler vet reward by December which opens up things even more. -
The basic idea is this:
When the player is offered a Mayhem/Safeguard mission allow us to choose which section of the City we go to.
EX/MAL us down if you have to make it work or change the mobs to match our levels. EXing would probably be easier though.
The reason for this idea is badging for Praetorians who come to Paragon/Rogue Isles. By the time they get a scanner/paper they will have out leveled Atlas, Kings, and possibly Skyway.
The issue is the location badges within each Mayhem/Safeguard map.
The alternative would be to try to find people running the missions in the zones, but with GR just released the lowbie populations in those zones will be non-existent for a while. -
Speaking of Siege. As an AV he was impossible to beat with a team of 6. We had to call in favors in order to actually have enough damage/debuffs to actually beat him.
He has a Dull Pain like power which made him immortal if you didn't have enough DPS.
We had the following:
Tank Inv/SS
Def FF/NRG
Blaster NRG/? want to say EM or EleM but not sure. Not devices and not Fire or Ice
Controller Grav/Kin
Controller Mind/Emp
Scrapper Dark/Dark (Might have switched out for a Kin/Psi at some point, don't remember)
We were basically stuck until we called in a friend of ours on his Warshade. -
A while baa head detail costume piece called 'Mandible' received additional texture to make it resemble a human jawbone and lower face. I know at least one SG-mate who used the old version as part of his character's look. The untextured piece works very well as a helmet faceplate.
I know the gladiator shoulder piece was mentioned a couple of times but what would be awesome is being able to swap the shoulders of the shoulder piece. Call it gladiator - left and gladiator - right. -
I have to reiterate this here:
Why Broadswords and Dual Blades but no Claws? If there was any Power set that I associate with "Mutant" it would be Claws.
I'm fine if you guys can't release it right away, I can be patient. However I think you guys are really missing a great opportunity by not putting Claws in.
Again, if you already have something in the pipe that's cool, if you can't make it work due to technical issues that's fine. -
Objective Feedback: When using the Organic Armor Head detail on a Helmet one one color actually makes a difference (the second color) in coloring the costume piece.
Either this should be a single color costume piece or the first color isn't working properly. -
My two cents:
Love the pack. One slight request: Organic Claws? I'd think claws would be in keeping with the thorny organic armor you guys are going for.
No rush of course. -
Sprunk - Wasn't this from GTA: San Andreas before it was from City of Heroes?
Comic Book - I'd go with Web distribution rather than print. Look what The Old Republic is doing with their comics and the art on the first one is total garbage. Have Hero1 help write the story arcs so at least they touch on what's happening with the game. I mean you hired Dave as your lead art guy and I loved his stuff. It's what got me interested in the CoH world in the first place.
One thing I hear from people about City of Heroes is part of the reason they can't get into it is due to the lack of lore or at least the lack of accessibility of the Lore.
There's an idea for smartphone apps: online Comic Books which aren't beyond the scope of amateur web-cartoonists.
Free access to costume creator - Here's an idea: If you can allow someone to have a 14-day free trial that severely limits what they can do in it, what about an unlimited trial that limits you to level 1. This way you have access to the costume creator but you won't be able to go past level 1. You'd probably have to severely limit expired accounts to only new characters only allowing access to the older characters if they re-sub up. -
A lot of the suggest have already been stated but I'd like to reiterate the main bullet points.
1) Updated and varied skyscrapers. There are too many buildings in Paragon City that have "copypasta" disease. Each zone needs to be fairly distinct and while some them fit the bill there's no reason it couldn't be taken a step further.
Let me reiterate this: There are too many skyscrapers in Paragon City that look exactly the same and they also look incredibly dated.
2) More buildings with a distinct purpose. Museums, Courthouses, gas stations. A Paragon City TV station to compete with WSPDR. Even giving the more "nameless" buildings their own signs would be neat. For the business use the same tech that you'd use for the advertisements, but make them more low key.
Giving Paragon City a "Theater District" would be look really nice.
Note to Black Pebble: The advertising using the sign space wasn't bad it's just there weren't enough of them to make them interesting. The Jeter Shoe ad was more an example of not knowing the audience, we're not a "sport shoe" crowd.
Specific suggestions:
Considering the Tsoo have a very strong presence in the Flop in St. Martial, giving part of that neighborhood a "Little Hmong" make over would be awesome. This is in addition to the idea of adding similar makeovers to Tsoo controlled areas of Paragon City (Talos, Indy Port)
Buses in Paragon City, I have to imagine that Paragon City would have a more robust Busing system to supplement the Monorail system. You don't need many, just one Bus per zone.
Electronic signs - Similar to the really big video displays that you see in Times Square. Use a variation of the screens in Grandville, only have them cycle advertisements, and news footage of heroes fighting Giant Monsters.
Look into the idea of Moving the Black Line Helios in the Isles to different parts of the Zone, away from the Ferries.
Move the St Martial Helio over by the Arachnos Submarine in the North Flop area.
Move the Grandville Helio to either the north side of the Main island or the South side of the Fab Island.
The Nerva Helio isn't as bad as the other 2, but moving further north would be nice, say near the Quatermaster in Primeva.
On the subject of Helicopters. It would be nice if you used the Helio pad in Portal Court that used to go to the Rikti Crash Site and have a corresponding Helio in another part of Paragon City. I'd say Galaxy, Bricks, Skyway, or Indy Port, basically any zone that doesn't already have access to PI, the RWZ, The Midnight Club, or the Pocket D. I'd go with Bricks since it's the same level range as Founders' Falls but it's more of a Cul-de-sac. -
These are Faces 29 and 30 for females. There's something very wrong with these faces. The flesh tones for the heads don't match the bodies at all. As a result the head can only be used with full body costumes.
So I have to ask, is this intentional or is this a bug? -
I sent Castle a PM with an idea like this some time ago, it took some similar ideas. In retrospect changing the Tier 1 into a kick version of Power Thrust might be a better idea.
The biggest reason why this is so Kick heavy is to prevent issues with Weapon redraw. I know that isn't quite the issue it used to be, but I find the whole "Holster, Punch, Draw" concept a little jarring.
Martial Art Manipulation - Blaster secondary
All damage is smashing unless stated otherwise
Tier 1 - Cobra Strike
Animation - Kick-style attack
Effect - Mag 3 stun
Alternative: Crippling Axe Kick rebalanced as a Tier 1 blaster seconday (Similar numbers to power thrust, but 100% smashing and a mag 3 immoblie)
Tier 2 - Storm Kick
Per Martial Arts
Tier 3 - Focus Chi
Per Martial Arts
Tier 4 - Crane Kick
Per Martial Arts
Tier 5 - Second Wind
Similar to Energize from Electric Armor without the heal
Click, +75% EndRdx +75% Regen
Tier 6 - Roundhouse Kick
PBAoE 130 degree cone kick attack
Tier 7 - Dragon's Tail
360 degree PBAoE kick attack Per Martial Arts
Tier 8 - Nerve Strike
Single target Hold - uses a light punch animation (Hard to justify this as a kick)
Alternative idea: Regen/Recovery DEBUFF
Tier 9 - Lightning Kicks
Damage 50% smash/energy
PBAoE 30 degree melee Cone attack
Damage is dealt as a rapid series of Kicks (think Chun-Li from Street fighter) -
Gratz to War Witch and everyone who's gotten a promotion!
Gratz to everyone who still has a job working for Paragon Studios! Especially in this Economy.
Hope everything goes well and I'm hoping to hear more news from you guys, soon(TM). -
Changing between melee and ranged blasts is too gimmicky.
I'd like to see the blasts get an END discount first to see how much it helps the Defender. -
Quote:When GR comes out, you can play a Corruptor and have him join the resistance and enter Paragon at level 20, so technically "Hero AT" and "Villain AT" will become meaningless except for the Epic ATs.My vote is for it being an indication of a real issue, perhaps more perception than reality, but an issue in either event.
I will be staying with Defenders personally. But thats just me being me. I dont play villains.
Its probably safe to say that the Developers will be monitoring the AT populations closely after GR to see what happens./emote prays
That's partly why I'd like the defender to be revisited.
