Going to echo this. It's pretty disappointing that these things seem to be suddenly derailed as to when they're coming out month to month. I kind of liked knowing I could expect them on the first or second tuesday or so.

That's a gorgeous costume set, but I don't understand...

You want me to buy random packs of stuff and hope that I get my money's worth? I would honestly have preferred the entire Elemental Order costume set at a steeper price than the chance of discovering one in a random Super Pack. Along with unslotters, boosters and inspirations that I don't want.

Or am I misunderstanding?

Don't strain yourself with the "discounts"...

The packs are still asking players to gamble on what they get from the packs for real money, and while some players will buy many of these packs, they (edit: the packs) are still morally bankrupt. The packs will also cost the game more in terms of player goodwill than the game will get financially.

Just a note: I'm not seeing the 12 pack option under featured, although it comes up on search. Intentional or an oversight?

I look forward to buying some of these!

If you buy Paragon Points in bundles, the prices are even better. In the extreme case of buying $100 of Paragon Points and getting the 20% off, the prices come out to:

1 pack = 80 Points/Pack = $0.83 USD/Pack
12 pack = 70 Points/Pack = $0.73 USD/Pack or $8.75 USD for the bundle.
24 pack = 60 Points/Pack = $0.625 USD/Pack or $15.00 USD for the bundle.

I plan on picking up a bunch of these, probably a 24 pack. I know, blah blah blah "morally bankrupt," but even if I don't get an exact something I'm shooting for, I'm durn sure I'll get a bunch of stuff I like and that's well worth it.

For what it's worth, I'm almost certain--to the point I'd actually bet on it--that you will eventually get your wish. I think that this will probably be like most stuff, that it's in the Super Packs first to encourage folks to pick some up. Eventually, they'll probably put them out on the store for people to buy directly as they rotate more stuff into the Super Packs.

We've been saving Paragon City for eight and a half years. It's time to do it one more time.

With the 24 Pack Pack you'd have to be very unlucky not to get the full costume set.

You'll get about 12 ATOs which you can sell; or trade them to make two full sets you can use.

You'll get about 1,000 Merits or more. There are several ways to translate that into 2 billion Influence.

Plus advanced inspirations and other stuff which Snow Globe will immediately respond to and say they are worthless. Well that's one opinion... many can find good uses for them.

The packs are completely ignorable. If you do buy them, they have good stuff that makes them worthwhile for anyone who isn't preemptively declaring everything worthless to themselves.

Just don't try to get the Black Wolf vanity pet. On average, it will take close to 200 packs to have a good *chance* to get it. Might take you 500 packs since it's so rare. If you get it while going for something else, just consider yourself lucky. OTOH, if you're a millionaire... go for it and thank you for funding the game.

Morally bankrupt? Wow. You're entitled to your opinion, but boy-howdy do I think you're wrong.

The costume pieces are weighted heavily enough that it really doesn't take many packs to get the full set, and most of the other stuff that's obtainable in the packs is useful/useable. The black wolf... well, I think that level of hyper-rarity is a mistake, but it doesn't deter me from enjoying the packs because I don't really care about vanity pets.

This is a long way from "moral bankruptcy" in my book, for a variety of reasons that were re-hashed over and over prior to the release of the packs. Sorry you don't like 'em. Feel free to continue voting with your wallet.

To echo what I said in the unofficial discussion thread:

On Beta, by the time I finished buying packs, opening packs, and then selling or deleting the large number of things for which I had no use, I cared less that I finally had the full Elemental Order set, and more so that I had lost over a half hour of game play time.

I'm a minimalist: I buy what I need/intend to use, and don't bother with the other stuff. These packs are practically the opposite of that, especially since I only (currently) have use for 2-3 of the Elemental Order pieces. I will pass on these for the time being.

My compliments to the designers, though, as the set is quite awesome and I like it a lot. It is the manner in which is obtained that I dislike.

Excitement over exclusivity is a bad road.
I like the costume set (and the black wolf). If they were up for sale outright, I'd buy them.
Super Packs = no sale + a hefty amount of disappointment in Paragon Studios

Sorry, I find the use of the term "Costume Bundle" to be highly misleading.

It's not a costume bundle. It's a costume set that you have to buy all sorts of extraneous crap to (hopefully) assemble.

There was another game I had $20 saved up over time to purchase an item which would not be released to my character because I was too low. So I went out and spent the money (a rather sizeable amount for the game) on pack that gave random rewards. Yes, there were a few specific items I wanted. By the time I opened up about 25 packs, I got none of the items I really wanted, and massive duplicates of the items I would not have minded having (and those were unique). After that experience I knew I would never do that again.

So the costume looks great. And I mean really great. You aren't, on my life, going to get me to ever purchase random packs, but I applaud your artistic department for the design. Your marketing department on the other hand needs to do some more research and try giving people multiple options then see which options your customers tend to gravitate toward most.

Beautiful costume set, but I don't buy anything random. It's bad enough that being a subscriber here gets you so little vs being a points-buying player for the same $15, but no, I'm not about to spend points on wishes for something.

I'm guessing the people who don't like these things also don't like, or never collected trading cards, because that's the closest, most obvious analog I can think of to these superpacks.

As someone who spent too much of his allowance as a kid on Wacky Packages, and Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back trading cards, and too much of his income as an adult on Buffy, and Star Wars Galaxy trading cards, I think these are a fun idea. I'll probably buy a 24 pack on each of my accounts and be done with it.

Does anyone know what the actual odds of any given item are? In the first pack I opened, I got 1 common, 3 uncommon and 1 very rare item.

Pretty simple, buy it if you want it. Don't if you don't. Morally Bankrupt??? seriously? I know morally bankrupt people. They aren't out for my 80 cents. They are giving us a choice to buy or not. Our choice. Buy and rejoice if you are happy with the results or stop buying if you are not. Trying to convince me I should be unhappy before I see the results is silly. If you don't buy, just don't be expressing your unhappiness about not having the stuff.

Personally, I love that I can have the choice to buy more stuff that I might want then ever before Freedom. It's almost like they thought of giving me a choice when they thought of that name.

I am eager to see what people get. Zombie Man was enlightening. Thank you.

This is a typo, right? There's no Paragon Points bundle that gets you 9,600 BONUS points is there???

I am hyped. I have been waiting for these super packs to come out.

Skip the costume set, I'll get it through buying, but I'm super excited about all the other stuff.

Rename Tokens? Respec Tokens? Reward Merits, for a doller!? You gotta be kidding me, thats a pieloving great deal.

You complainers need to start screaming into your entitlement pillow and stop wasting precious time posting. Because at the end of the day the judgement will come from how much money they make with the super packs, which I will personally ensure to be mounds.

Screw morals, I want ATOs!

It was indeed a typo. It's 1,600, not 9,600. Sorry for any confusion!
