There needs to be an alternative. If people would happily plunk down 400 points for the set, so LET them. More options is GOOD, less options is BAD.
I'm with you on this...

I love how predictable people can be these days.
I don't know that it can properly be called "buyer's remorse" when someone who hates this kind of product knowingly buys this kind of product and then complains that they hate it. That's more like "self-flagellation".

Wrong merits.

On Beta, you could trade in one of the Paragon Reward Merits (those things you use to go from Tier 1 to Tier 9) to get 5 packs.

A LOT of people were planning on only using those to get the Super Packs.

[Edit] Reading more now, I've not been at the computer as constantly as it may look.

Just a wild guess, but I suspect that a patch would be needed for this to be added - they may just be holding off on it to i22, rather than redo QA - especially if i22 is just around the corner.

While I think the packs are a good idea in theory, in practice they're horribly off-putting for anyone that just wants the costume set/whatever you want in the packs. Why make us jump through hoops/turn a huge section of the playerbase off by essentially telling us the only way to buy a costume set could end up costing many times more than just a normal costume pack for a chance at getting some of the set? Sure, it's nice that for 80 points you could randomly get a costume piece you don't own. But why didn't the Devs just make it so that the Superpacks have a random chance to drop any costume piece you haven't yet bought in the store? That would be worth it, because if I didn't get the costume piece, I'd just go in the store and buy it separately anyway! (and the chance to get a emote or costume piece I don't already have could theoretically be nice for the occasional 80pp toss.)

The problem isn't that what you're getting for the fifteen dollars in 24 packs isn't useless/crappy, but that it's unwanted (for the most part, especially for someone like me that doesn't need/want any of the enhancers/boosters/etc.) and it feels really, really silly to not want to take my monies because I don't want to trust the same random chance that governs whether I get a purple IO drop or not for actual money on top of my subscription price and would rather just spend a flat sum of money for the 'expansion' of small costume pieces and a vanity pet.

It does feel like a blatant grab for money. If they offer the set within a week or two I'd be fine with it, but zwill's post about it not even being up for discussion yet is disheartening with a company I like to support. It's not enough to drive me off of CoH, but it is enough that I won't be spending a penny on these packs, and leaves me dissatisfied with the decision enough to come on to the forums and post about it!

So yeah, Feedback! Yay! Elemental Order set is a very pretty set, most likely why I spent the time writing and editing this post to not have too many typing mistakes:P

Calling them by their proper name (Paragon Reward Tokens) would have saved the confusion.

Just looked it up, and the correct term is Reward Tokens, not Merits. My bad.

But the question remains.

Thank you for posting! I agree completely with what you've written, especially since I feel the same way but couldn't explain myself as well as you have...

Any updates for the date that costume goes on the market?

As in directly, not from this packs? :/

I want nothing but the costume!

I already have every other costume pieces and this is true for all of my 6 accounts. :]

And since it wasn't JUST costume pieces I bought, I think I already threw quite a little of my money into this studio... times 6. :P

So do not make me do this costy gamble. :x

O SELME SELME DA COSTUME SET AND THAT ONLY! xD

(And I'm sure someone will be shushing about all those emoticons I used at the end of every line. xP)

Extremely disappointed this went live like this at these prices.

I'd type more, but it never seems to matter these days.

I broke down and bought some of these.

Within 13 packs, I had the full Elemental Order set. Four of the items (a common, an uncommon, a rare and a very rare) appeared in my first pack, two more (a common and a very rare) in the second. Plus I got ATOs totaling about a billion inf at current prices (which I expect will change over coming weeks), enough reward merits to afford two more of my choice (one pack included 175 merits!), and three catalysts.

Plus a bunch of moderately-useful consumable powers and a whole friggin' load of basically-useless inspirations. If there's anything I think needs to die with regard to the market in general and these packs in particular, it's paying cash-money for something that only provides its benefits for sixty seconds or so.

But really, so far my only strong opinion of the packs is that they demonstrate a desperate need for a means of organizing my email inbox so I can find what I'm looking for more easily.

FUN FACT: That burst of light when you level up is actually the effectiveness escaping from your enhancements all at once.

It's not a surprise present when you have to buy it yourself! Give them out as rewards, then it is a surprise present. That is the ONLY way a random thing is fair, and even then it is borderline.
I will be waiting until you put the costume out to buy normally like you promised you would. I couldn't care less about anything else in the packs just filling up my inbox. Especially with the average of 25 packs for the costume and 700+ for the wolf pet that kills my buff pet anyway, no thank you.

You guys have a serious problem with using language lately, medium is not long, throwing is not flying, and present is not something you buy for yourself.

Buying Packs with Paragon Reward Tokens (the new Vet system) will be coming to Live... soon. With Issue 22.

Catalysts, which currently are only available through the packs, will also be drops in 22.

Converters will be drops in 22 also. Additionally, they'll be available with Merits, and incarnate Merits. Converters do not appear in Packs.

Where did they say these costume pieces would be sold normally?
If people purchased these costume pieces on the basis that they were only available via the super packs, there are going a hell of a lot of p'd off people looking for their money back.

Too many 50's to list here's a few you may know.
Slazenger, Area51, Area53, Area54, Erruption, Mind Plague, Thresher, Sheath, Broadside, Debt

I just spent 1440 points on the 24 superpack. So far I've gotten 1 notification in email, unlocked it with the warning that it was good for that character only. Got 5 cards & unlocked the elemental chest & sleeves for all the characters on my account & 3 other mundane crap for the unlocking character.

Checked on my other characters and no access to any more superpacks.

Ok, either I'm not understanding this & thought I should be getting 23 more chances (having bought the 24 superpack) or that 1440 points only bought 1 chance at 5 random cards & can you say RIP OFF???

24 packs = 120 cards, not 5

you claim them one at a time, in case you wanted one character to claim one, or another to claim another.
