Not to mention that they openly lied to us in their last "official" announcement. I mean did they even have to explain to us that they we're looking for someone to sell the game to? They reason they told us they "exhausted all possibilities" was because of the PR hit that they took and they just wanted to make themselves look good. They have/had no intention ever of selling COH to anybody, but then to just come out and virtually LIE to us about wanting to sell it shows that this company has no ethics. I have no intention of doing business with them ever again.

Sister Psyche. Cause I like redheads... and she makes her supersuit talk.
Ms. Liberty. Got a power-girl complex too. -
I'd love to help you guys out but you always keep scheduling this stuff on my work days. Gonna have to skip em both.

It's entirely understandable to be realistic to the fact that as of the moment, NCSoft is shutting down the servers come November 30th.
It is not however excusable to approach the situation with a defeatist attitude if you want to see this game continue.
People have some hope for now, don't fault them for thinking that way. -
So NCSoft doesn't want CoX to live on? Well... we're going to nix that idea. First we're going to fly in some Special Forces using specially stealthed Blackhawk helicopters. These agents will then pose as NCSoft employees and gain entrance into the facility. One there they will stealthily access the servers, downloading them on specialized Thumb drives. Once the information is downloaded, they will then wipe the servers and then they will then use specialized dart guns to tranquilize everyone in company and use Dr. Aeon tech to mind wipe all knowledge of CoH from their memories. One the agents have safely uploaded the servers onto new secure machines in America, the process of wiping the NCSoft logo from the game will take place before the servers are once again brought up under a new fictitious company.
But of course... this is all a secret so don't tell anyone. -
Er.... why are they apologizing? They had nothing to do with CoX closing down.
<_<
>_>
Anyway... While I appreciate the sentiments from the community over there, I can't overlook the simple fact that the game outright sucks. So I'd be hard pressed to go there. Hopefully CoH will survive, in one form or another. -
I won't blame GW2, but it's Arenanet's misfortune that their game is published by NCSoft. So unless they decide to give NCSoft the middle finger, I won't be playing the game.
-
I won't give up. Even if they close the servers I won't give up. That's not what a hero does.
-
Until there is any definitive announcements, I'm just going to treat everything as just speculation. It's great to discuss the possibilities one way or the other, but before we have cold hard facts, everything is just theories.

She ran off and aggroed one of the bosses in the SSAVol3part3 arc and then got owned. Then I had to look for the boss for almost a half hour because he was flying around at some random location in the sky.
But despite everything, I still love ya Fusionette! -
Here's a question then. If they really are deciding to part ways with CoH because of money problems, wouldn't it be in their best interests then to SELL it to someone for whatever the cost they could get for it rather then just eating it and closing the game down? I mean it WOULD make sense to do that!

Get together and reform Paragon Studios. They should probably rename themselves (( Maybe Freedom Phalanx or something.))
Buy the rights and code from NCSoft. I'm sure collectively they might have the resources to do that. If not I'm sure the community or another company would help them out in some way shape or form.
Once they obtain and open CoH, they keep the servers open and continue with development while working on new games like CoH2 or whatever else they might want to dream up.
That would be ideal.. -

Quote:So... we don't want to continue on with the game, but we don't want anyone else to have it? That's like.... the epitome of greed.Well, by holding onto it, they don't actually lose money doing it, and they deny it to potential competition.
I will definitely be keeping tabs on this. Hopefully something can be established. Will support you guys all the way, however I can. -

It probably won't do any good but at least the community shouldn't go down fighting! Defeat the villainy that is corporate! -
I'm really sorry that this is happening to you and the rest of the dev team Zwil. The fact is you don't deserve to be shafted by NCSoft. The thing is we all don't. You might not hold any ill will towards them, but you'll forgive me if I don't feel the same way. The fact is, they're complete idiots if they are going to give up on a proven franchise that has worked for over seven years and didn't show signs of ever stopping.
Really if I were in your shoes, I would be downright pissed.
Thank you for interacting with the community and truly making CoH a joy to play. -
So I was listening to the radio today and this Burger King commercial came on. (( Could have been another fast food joint advertising though.)) Whatever.
The point is, The background music started playing and I immediately recognized it... it was the Atlas Park trumpet theme. No mistaking.
Hopefully Paragon Studios knows that BK is using their composed music? Hmm.

I understand if NCSoft would like to protect it's own NPC character names, but not with a tool implemented inside the game itself.
We're unable to use any of the in-game AVs as bosses for any AE's because the copyright protection prohibits us from using their names. Or well... you can use the AVs, but you got to change their names to something generic in order for the AE to allow it.
I'm sure Dr.Vahzilok would like to be known as Dr.Vahzilok, not Frank. I know you guys don't pay much attention to the AE, but this is really something that you need to fix. -
If someone wants it, then they'll pay anything to get it. It's all a point of view depending on the customer.
Now for me... 650 points for another animal transformation power is a little much, but if it fits a toon's style of play and RP then it's worth looking into.
But it's not worth getting if it doesn't fit a character concept. -
1) It negates actually learning team teleport in game.
2) I can't actually fly the jet around.
3) It only comes in one color.
No thanks. -
I'm kinda hesitant about having this game sell Exp for money.
-
The forums Raged. The Devs listened. This is good to see.

Killing Statesman off- fine.
Retconning my badges so that my toon never even has proof of knowing him- No.
Stop being petty. Statesman is still an integral part of this game.
And for the record: Statesman was a more well developed character then Positron ever was. After Positron was able to release all of his energy, his story kind of died out. But Statesman.. sure he was sorta flat and a stuffed shirt.... that was his personality. But he had The whole story with the well thing going and the rivalry with Recluse and he was involved in all sorts of game lore.
Positron just took his helmet off. -
Aging in MMOs is not good. MMO time is not RL time and thus they should be kept separate. Just an honest opinion.
