Nice to know I'm beating the deadline for making a video celebrating the 5th anniversary because MINE will go live on the actual anniversary. However, this then automatically disqualifies me from competing.

I'm thinking Reichsman's capsule, which he promptly escapes from and then rallies the 5th column to take back the council.

But it would be much cooler if all the zones suddenly became pvp zones, allowing villains into Paragon, and Heroes in the Rogue Isles.

Edit: And not that it was ever my style, but it would be epic hilarious if they could rollback the combat rules to pre-purple patch so entire city zones could be herded into dumpsters by firetanks and we can see fire/devices herding teams again... :P

(Never participated in those unofficial "in game events" as I was between levels 3-10 on my first for heroes. But boy do I remember hearing about 'em :P)

For some reason the announcement had the word "orange" appended to a number of words. It's since been fixed and was probably due to some sloppy HTML formatting.

I still say it sucks that this "Special Aniversary Event" starts in the middle of a work day, and ends at midnight. That greatly limits the amount of the playerbase that can take advantage of it.

If it is scaled, where Past Events happen for an hour, then another past event happens for an hour, etc... Most working folks EDT will miss the first 6-7 Events. Never to be able to experience them or the Full Aniversary Celebration.

It sucks if this is the case.

Much amusement for all the DOOMsayers who don't know AM from PM and are throwing a fit because they think the Devs hate us so much they'd only put on a gig like this for an hour. During a workday. Also: much love for the community, because we have so few DOOMsayers as compared to some other games.

Though I will say I wish we'd had more heads-up. I don't know if this was a somewhat last minute decision, or if they wanted to wait until so close to the event for some other reason.. but very inconvenient to find out about this stuff so last minute. I have so little PTO saved up, and I already took last Friday off because of a car accident.. Sigh. I mean, of course I'm going to have to take the day off, it's inconceivable that I wouldn't... oh well. I'm sure there's a good reason we're only being told about it now.

Regardless of the real-world obstacles, I think it's totally awesome that a party has been arranged in any case. It has been a GREAT five years, and I'm looking forward to five (or ten, or a hundred) more! I'll be here until they physically shut off the servers, so of course I have to show up for the big anniversary shindig! (I just t'other day calculated how much money I've paid to PlayNC so far for City and in-game items. Total comes to over $800. Not bad for five whole years of loving entertainment!)

In the "In-Game Events" part of the post it says

" From 11am EST on April 28th to 12am EST "

but at the bottom of the announcement it says the 5-year badge will be available

"Beginning at 11am EST on Wednesday, April 29th and continuing until 11:59pm EST on Sunday, May 31st",

so I'm guessing they meant to put the May 31st date in the earlier part of the announcement?

No because "We're not going to ruin the surprise...but suffice it to say that all CHAOS is going to break loose in-game on our anniversary date" pretty much implies the "in-game event" part is a 1 day thing. I would think that if they were intended int to run till the end of may they would have said "in our anniversary month"
