    Rocket Boards?

That last one's fascinating to me--I would've thought a specific elemental power like that would be more niche, but if forum tastes are anything to go by, it's more than that.

That's what I'm here to find out though, so thanks for the insight.
Motorcycles would be cool, but not necessarily flying ones. Would it be possible to make them an SS style power but lock out other power use for animation purposes. I've always thought that the Skulls villain group should have motorcycles. It just seems like it would be natural for them as a gang, especially to differentiate them more from the hellions (which are basically just vandals).

For elemental travel powers, inFamous 2 gives a few interesting ideas. For example, aside from the lightning glide powers, there is an ice travel power which simply creates a stack of ice that propels you into the sky. The fire one simply gives you a boost in one direction. I think either power would make for a good SJ analogue, with Ice being something projected at the ground to boost you, and fire being similar (maybe using some sort of rocket like the current steampunk jump power). A modification of Prestige Power Slide where ice is generated below you leaving a short trail that melts away behind you would really cool as well.

One other thing, as most of the travel power ideas seem to be based off Flight, SJ, and SS, I think TP should get some love. Since TP doesn't have as much of a visual effect as the other travel powers, perhaps it would be possible to open the power to customization. Basically have a couple different effects that can be chosen (rather than the burst of light), Maybe as you warp you leave crackles of energy, or flames, or the effect is similar to the transporters in Star Trek. This would allow for a little bit more uniqueness for the people who go that route with their travel power.
  2. I Personally really like Nemesis, story aside, the artwork is really good, and i'm quite partial to cyborgs and robots, especially steampunk ones. My hope would be to see some other nemesis AVs or GMs which fit that theme.

Some of the new character art is quite nice, like Maelstrom Synapse, Noble Savage and Tyrant.

I also really like Positron, but again that's me liking tech suits. On the other hand, I don't really like Anti-Matter, I was disappointed to see that he didn't get a graphical update.

Each of the patron villains and Recluse all have great design too, They are all quite fitting.
  3. Hube and TheSummerEvening.

I apologize that my post was not all that tactful, and came across blunt and offensive, but my point is that you need to work for rewards. Sometimes you luck out, othertimes not.

I play on Vic server, and it is one of the smaller servers. That said, I am subscribed to 3 different global chat handles. Victory Badges, Victory Forum, and another SG based one. I usually log in after work, and within half an hour, there is always some sort of TF/SF being advertised on one of the groups. Since I use this approach, I have reduced the number of PUGs i join. (i mostly use them for raising other characters, but when it comes to a STF etc, I usually prefer to team with the people in the channels).

That said, I have been on some great PUG's, but that seems to be the exception to the rule.

When the MoSTF badge came out, I got it first try on test server with a PUG. After that, It took about 25 runs, and several months on Live before I got the badge. Sometimes you get lucky, othertimes you get a blaster who gets killed by Ghost Widow everytime.

Parts of the game are difficult, and the whole idea of this endgame content is to create a new challenge for players. Some of the best content in the game is within the task forces. I just find it ironic that the same people complaining about not having access to the incarnate content, are the same people who do not wish to play through the TF/SF content.

As for Hube and TheSummerEvening, again i apologize for any offense you may have taken from my post, however my comments were not so much aimed at you, as the dozen or so other players I saw in the other thread that WST was introduced in complaining.

PUGs are bad for running the STF. you'll need to find a proper group.

That said, It's unfortunate you have had such bad luck with the task force, however, The incarnate content is meant to challenge players.

Really though, STF with a good team is a pretty short task force. Apex and Tin Mage take under an hour. A hour is a short amount of time to devote, and the game has channels and a brilliant player search function to find a team.
  5. Yeah i'd put this under the "i'll get it when i get it" category.

Hopefully by the end of the year, but certainly won't be anytime soon. Especially given which TF's are required. That said, If they ever pick the incarnate TFs for the weekly target, those could probably be run 5 or 6 times on any given day I have off. considering how short they are.

Which brings me to the people complaining about not having time to team in an MMORPG, complaining that their time is sparse and they can't devote 4 hours to doing a task force to get an incarnate reward. The Apex and Tin Mage TF can be completed in under an hour. If you have time to watch an episode of something on TV, you have time to do one of those task forces.

Hell, for most of my life there were few games which contained save points within an hour of eachother. I don't like to tell people to leave the game, or how to play, but really if you can't devote that amount of time to an online MMORPG, then it's probably not the best game for you. Perhaps an ipod app game would be more appropriate
  6. So i've been playing CoH for about 6 years now. And I watched as more and more levels of customization have been added. That said, one thing that hasn't changed, is that when my character stands around, he spends some time with his arms crossed, and then he spends some time looking around, or with his arms at his side, but I don't get to choose how he poses himself.

Now, the mechanic I'm talking about here is pretty big, and would probably entail a power spectrum level of rebuilding in order to work.

Currently, we have a couple different powers we can select to have our characters behave in certain ways, for example the walk power. What I'm thinking about here however is something akin to choosing your power.

Imagine another tab when creating your character. You've made his appearance, you've selected his powers, how they want to look, and what weapon he uses. Now, you select his behavior. In this tab you would have a list of actions. Things like idle, walk, fly, alternate attack animations.

This would affect the way your character behaves in the game, outside of using custom emotes or temp powers.

Granted, there are lots of different animations, and to change the system so that it lets you pick between them would be a lot of work, probably something best saved for CoH2, but i really think it's the last thing between my character being a mindless shell who only responds to orders, and an actual character who does more than just mirror the same stances everyone else standing around is doing.
  7. Are the TFs really all spawning at -1? This is making them even less appealing, We need our max diff options back
  8. i dunno, that's just what i had lol.

it looks like it's the mobo. it's just a shame that that last crash finished it off, since after adjusting it and fixing the sink it probably would have been.

As for the mobo fan/sink it had been working fine when i checked it the other day for dust
  9. also, the mobo i have has it's own heatsink and fan, but unlike all the other comp fans, this one isn't turning. Another sign pointing towards the mobo being fried?
  10. yeah, it just shut off without warning or anything.

The Mobo has a little lcd display (like digital clocks) which normally displays "FF" when things were running normally.

When i turn it on now, it just says "--"

I'll give it a few hours to ool, and then try again
  11. things just keep going from bad to worse.

So, pretty much right after submitting that post, my comp crashed, and this time it had nothing to do with CoH.

Truth be told, it is about 45 degrees out, so my comp was probably running hotter than normal, but i figured it must be heat, and that CoH is just making it abnormally hot sometimes.

So, i opened my computer, and noticed that the heat sink was starting to become detached from the processor, so i took it off, cleaned them both, and re-applied the thermal grease.

I made sure everything was nice and secure, and turned on my comp. Nothing happened. Power goes through it, the fans spin, but it doesn't beep, and my mouse, keyboard and screen stay blank and unpowered.

Now i have no idea what to do. (i'm posting this from my mac atm) I have no idea why it's not starting. I even double checked it to make sure everything is connected properly
  12. when i turn on my comp, i usually go to my processes and turn off whatever i know i can (such as the HP crap), but there's still tons of sytems things left. I just went and disabled a bunch of the startup stuff i could.

Checking my event log doesn't seem to reveal any info. It simply says "The previous system shutdown at 3:17:04 PM on 7/16/2009 was unexpected." However there are no logs around that time that say anything relevant (just stuff about my computer booting)

As for my temps, at the moment with only firefox running
    GPU 64
    System -65 ?
    CPU 58
    AUX 43
    CPU 57
    Local 55
    Remote 2 57
    Core 0 59
    Core 1 57

I'm not sure what all of those represent, i wasn't sure which CPU to list.

Running Sims 3, most of the settings to max

    GPU 75
    System -65
    CPU 96
    AUX 45
    CPU 70
    Local 65
    Remote 2 70
    Core 0 -30
    Core 1 -33

I can try and find out what they are for CoH, but it will likely crash my comp, so i'll just post this for now.

The driver that i had listed was the rollback that i did by following the link in your sig. I had a more recent one before
  13. well, i had this problem a little while back too, sometime after MA came out. the problem eventually went away, then it started showing up again, (happened while playing on test server testing khan TF), then i hadn't seen it again until yesterday when it happened 7 times
  14. nah, i've cleaned out my comp a few times thinking it could be heat, but it doesn't seem to have any effect.

As i said, sometimes i'd let it cool down completely, then turn it on, go straight to CoH, and it'd crash right away.

I just tried using the windows hotfixes, they said they would have no effect on my system. I tried rolling back my drivers, still no luck.

Here is what i get with CoH Helper:

  15. The game has worked fine on my computer for years, but recently the game will randomly cause my computer to just shut down, sometimes within minutes of logging in, sometimes hours.

at first i thought it might be a heat problem, but the computer operates fine for days at a time, and then shuts down when i go into CoH. sometimes i have it shut off for hours to cool, and then it still shuts off as soon as i go into the game. Other even more video intensive game do not cause this problem at all.

I'm running Windows Vista 32 bit, NVidia 8800 gts video card, 4 gigs of ram, and a 2.4 GHz dual core processor.
  16. I'm thinking Reichsman's capsule, which he promptly escapes from and then rallies the 5th column to take back the council.

But it would be much cooler if all the zones suddenly became pvp zones, allowing villains into Paragon, and Heroes in the Rogue Isles.
    Mwahahahaha!
  17. Arc Name: Quintessence
    Arc ID: 4704
    Faction: Neutral
    Creator Global @Yuuden
Difficulty Level: Moderate. Great for teaming or solo (i don't recommend playing at difficulty level 1 if teaming)
Synopsis: An evil monster has appeared in Paragon City, the only way to stop it is to resurrect a great hero who once battled this monster.
Estimated Play Time: 30min-1hour (depending on team/strategy)
    Feedback: Use in-game feedback

I would really appreciate any input you have to offer regarding this arc (lots of work put into it, on test and live).

    Thanks!

BTW, those spikes you see (from dude in samurai armor's wrists) in image 6 must definately be a new Spines animation. If you look at image 3 you can see the blood widow beside him's been hit with impale or spine burst.

Castle already told us that it wasn't
  19. it's an invention, in fact, an invention set to be invented 1000 years in the future: The Fing-Longer
  20. i've said multiple times, that spike like weapon is actually the Fing-Longer (look it up on wikipedia if you've never heard of it)
  21. Recluse's weapon is probably drawing it's power from oranbega or something.
  22. Well isn't that interesting

oh well, Hero 1 wasn't the only one in the Dawn Patrol or Vanguard

Edit: oh and Villain 1 ftw
