I9 Statesman's Task Force Preview - Discussion
Hooray!
One of those missions is clearly set in Recluse's Victory.
I'm guessing that's an instanced map, though. People wouldn't be sent into a PvP zone in the course of a TF.
Yeah, I noticed the Pillbox as well. Gah, I have to see what the Tangle is all about now! Honestly, when it was just Bane Spider chatter, I didn't really care that much.
The Abrams is one of the most effective war machines on the planet. - R. Lee Ermy.
Q: How do you wreck an Abrams?
A: You crash into another one.
Finally, I can't wait for this TF

I've always wanted a PvP TF.
I'm probably the only person though.
in the 2nd screenshot at the bottom it looks like spines will have new animations. is this true or am i missing something....if they are new yay!! finally....
oh yeah the TF looks cool too
Um.
All I can say is...
This better include a revamp of the LRSF as it is now, in the near future. Because the STF sounds like fun, whereas the LRSF is just a boring, lame, utterly pathetic excuse for a "challenge".
Doom.
Yep.
This is really doom.
Or maybe it's a new powerset... Eitherway I'm excited about new content for my lvl 50's.

I was going to comment on the new spines thing too. The guy in samurai armor has a single long spike comming from the back of his hand, looks very cool
I was wondering when that thread would get mentioned. I'm noticing a pattern. If they want to put up official discussions of the big interviews, it might be better if they started setting them up before users found them and started their own threads.
EDIT: Though, the link to the interview doesn't have the RV shot. I wonder if someone on the CoH team got the wrong picture in there.

Or they could sticky the threads users start, like Lighthouse did with Lady_Sadako's thread about an interview the other day.

We accomplished that goal, but in the end some of the Archetypes felt left out, since they didnt have the build to contribute to the huge Archvillain fights that the Lord Recluse Strike Force was built around (we took our learnings forward from this).

SOME of the ATs felt left out!?!?!?! Um try more then half. It has been proven that Doms, Stalkers, and MM can contribute to it. Though usually ATs just still come along mostly as veng fodder.
I am hopeful that they are not goning to make the same mistake they did with the end of Recluse's challenge.

Actually, I was a little disappointed to see so many familiar maps in the screenshots (and - and - and oranbega no less!)
Still, I'm really interested to see what the devs will throw at the hero ATs for a challenge. After our experiences with the LRSF, I don't think it can be a raw AV fight, even a raw many-on-many AV fight.

Jesse - the menu choice for the Statesman Task Force is labeled "To Protect and Serve". Should oughta be "Breakthrough", I reckon.
Well since this is the official post for the Statesan TF I will ask my question here as well.
A few questions come to mind for both the heroes as well as the villains side of things when it comes to the rewards from these encounters.
If a specific character were to defeat Hamidon and receive his or her reward, can they then run the Statesman's TF and earn a second reward?
Reason I ask, is because these are two different events, will the 24 hour timer effect them on the other event or not.
Questions? or Comments?

Familiar to whom? Heroes?
Will heroes get Heat Seeker (Arachnos Flier GM badge) before villains get Heat Seeker or is the Arachnos Flier attackable?

Latest patch on Test suggests villains will be getting a working Flier soon.
Something tells me that will the grandville and archnos maps, this TF is going to be lag-tastic.

I hope it doesn't have the lag mayhems do. Every time I get that 00:30 bonus I can't do anything for 10 seconds. If it's brutal on my Mastermind I shudder to think how many times my blaster will die (in addition to the inherent blaster deaths )

Any chance that the LRSF will be *revised* into something those "left out" ATs can contribute to? And it's not our *builds* that won't function, guys, it's your game mechanics.
But I'm glad you've learned valuable things from villain balance and hero players won't be marginalized like we continue to be.

We had a previous patch stating the exact same thing. So I won't believe villains get Arachnos Flier until someone sees it on live with a decent spawn rate. Doctor Aeon could help the hero team to program the Flier to take down Recluse. There is nothing in the press release stating that you have to take down Aeon and Flier, just that they play a key role. If you can take down the Flier in the Stateman's TF, then heroes will have an easier time taking down a GM that has caused villains lots of trouble.
