I9 Statesman's Task Force Preview - Discussion
[ QUOTE ]
Will heroes get Heat Seeker (Arachnos Flier GM badge) before villains get Heat Seeker or is the Arachnos Flier attackable?
[/ QUOTE ]
It would be funny if they did. It would also be very very wrong.
[ QUOTE ]
And if the STF is being toned so that all hero AT's can contribute((which they'd be able to do anyway, if a controller can't control they can still buff/debuff not true of Dominators.Blasters/Scrappers won't have the issues a stalker does. Tanks are always wanted for things like this and Defenders would be too.)) then the RSF better recieve a similar treatment!!!!
[/ QUOTE ]
If they would just change the last damn mish set up it would be a non issue. Hell easiest way to fix it would be set it up like the Katie hannon TF. Have each member of the Phalnax come out one at a time in waves. you have only so long to take down whichever hero comes at you before the next one gets there.
[ QUOTE ]
Actually, I was a little disappointed to see so many familiar maps in the screenshots (and - and - and oranbega no less!)
[/ QUOTE ]
You know the mantra. Hmm what should we have them face now? Not sure boss. I know lets use the CoT!
Shadowy Presence - Absolutely, positively worse than playing a Kheldian... --Myrmydon
Personally I would like to see them remove Back Alley Brawler from the final mission and replace his earlier appearance in the LRSF with Citadel. It would make more sense and even out the obvious difference in the number of Sig characters in the final mission(5 villains + Flier compared to 8 heroes).
HOWEVER, since they are implying controller primaries are going to be a big part of the final missions success, I'm thinking waves of normal enemy ambushs that need to be controlled. If this is the case they should definitely reduce the number of Phalanx members and add in this same challenge to the LRSF.

Controllers will find themselves greatly desired in the final battle if the team wants to have any chance of winning
[/ QUOTE ]
Please tell me he didn't just say that you don't have any chance of winning without a Controller?
- Jock Tamson, Who lacks active Controllers in his SG.
Dark Defender's can pitch hit for Controllers in most circumstances. And Ice/Ice Blasters.

How will the people who don't have CoV be able to get into Grandville?

[/ QUOTE ]
I wouldn't say Ice/Ice blasters could, they only have single target control and not the AoE control controllers specialize in. Dark defenders can manage as a substitute with their fear cone and black hole.
im sooo glad i got a /rad as i think ill be able to do this alot with my toons
question is..will it be all granite tanks and /rads
i have a feeling that blasters will be looked at like stalkers wil be
damage can be done with a regen and since were all 50 its not like damage from all a.t's will be any issue
and yeah im sure itll be lagged

Manage?
My Dark/Dark Defender has more control powers than my Grav/Kin. Throw in the Psi epic and you can rival Mind Control.

Although I'm still really looking forward to the STF, I question the decision to include an Oranbega map mission. Do we really need another CoT connection in a TF/SF?
(yes, I know I mentioned this in the other STF thread, but this being the "official" thread and all . . . )

I think Ice/Ice has enough control to manage. It has a massive slow in Shiver, and also ice patch. ice patch is effective against bane spiders, and tarantulas, and pretty much anything that doesn't float.
it won't affect the AVs, obviously, but with three (or even four, depending on the APP) fast cycling single target holds, I think it can more than hold it's own

My guess is oddball datamining.
"Hm. The players aren't defeating very many CoT mobs. That must mean that we don't have enough CoT content for them to find!"

Well...it would hopefully answer the question why so many CoT are hanging around Grandville with nothing of any arcane nature going about in sight...maybe the Tangle is tapping into some ancient ruins...
The Statesman TF looks like nine kinds of awesome (although isn't it going to break a certain story arc to have Statesy physically handing out this TF?) Still, I'd like to echo everyone's question: will we be seeing a revamp of the Recluse SF in the near future? I don't want it easier, just changed to a form where dominators, stalkers, and masterminds feel a little less like fifth wheels.

They also could have up to Two AoE sleeps if they took the Cold epic.
Oh, and then theres Sonic Blasters with cone sleeps and single target stuns.

Here we had a chance to have some mayhem mission type action, with your team of Heroes causing havoc in the WebFac, destroying vital pieces to the array in Grandville. This was something that players asked for when we introduced Safeguard missions.
[/ QUOTE ]
Woohoo!
[ QUOTE ]
They wanted to go to the Rogue Isle and bust stuff up. Now they get to bust stuff up, but with a purpose.
[/ QUOTE ]
I just want to point out that I think we always wanted a purpose. I don't recall anyone wanting heroes to go over there and destroy innocent civilians' property. I know I wanted to bust up dangerous villainous property like weapons, factories, and research labs used for nefarious purposes.
It was particularly frustrating to me that the dev response seemed to assume that we just wanted to trash the streets of the Rogue Isles.
Anyway, I am glad that you are adding something that has exactly what I think most of the pro-smash heroes wanted in the first place.
[ QUOTE ]
Every mission leads up to the ultimate confrontation where, upon success, players will be able to stand in Atlas Park and proudly display to all onlookers that they have Saved the World. Isnt that what being a hero is all about?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes. Yes, it is.
Thanks, I'm really looking forward to this.

It'll be an instanced outdoor map I'm sure. You wont be going to the actual villain zone.

[/ QUOTE ]
That's the only other issue I have with it at this point. Depending on how it pans out on Test, I may ask that States be moved to inside the FC ship with the door unlocked by the badge. AFAIK, Recluse will only hand out his SF to a leader who has his Patron badge, so it wouldn't be dissimilar in that regard.

Agreed, make Stateman's Pal badge the requirement and make it the key to entering the ship. This way the final praetorian arc makes sense!

Besides, if you have CoH, you have the maps and zones of CoV. You just don't have access without the CoV code.

Q: How do you wreck an Abrams?
A: You crash into another one.
Your QA guys sure play cheesy concepts.
Well if Heroes get the ability to earn the Heatseeker badge then I demand Villains be able to earn RV Isolator!!!!
Seriously though I'd be pissed if heroes can get heatseeker. Since it's been largely unavailable to villains since I7 launched.
And if the STF is being toned so that all hero AT's can contribute((which they'd be able to do anyway, if a controller can't control they can still buff/debuff not true of Dominators.Blasters/Scrappers won't have the issues a stalker does.
