I am looking forward to this Issue more than i have any previous issue that has come along. I don't know if I have what it takes to create content worthy of being played by the general populous but I am certainly going to try my hand it and see what I can do.

Barring unforeseen bugs, I'm guessing earlier. March 30th.

Well said, Sherlockho.
I feel the exact same way.
Maybe I'll be good at creating missions, maybe not.
At least I'm gonna give it a hearty try.
I'm at 55-months and still enjoy being a Hero with altitus.

isnt the 5th anniversary in April though and isnt i15 supposed to be centered(and released) around it?
If i14 came out at the end of this month or in April then the team would only have a single month to focus on i15

This one doesn't sound like a positive.

[/ QUOTE ]

Heh, was thinking the same thing. Can be either positive or negative depending on how you look at it. Guess that makes it a neutral.

Well, I14 isn't like a regular issue. The Mission Architect isn't taking up the entire staff's attention. So there are a bunch of devs working on I15 while a handfull of devs finish I14. It wouldn't surprise me if the time between I14 and I15 is very short.

Geek Sugar seems to be saying that the boxed retail version of the Architect Edition will be released on March 12, but that conflicts with several other sites showing 4/14 for the box, so GS is no doubt mistaken.

[/ QUOTE ]

This link actually just mentions that Architect will be out on the 12th. I doubt that it'll be live this early, but perhaps open beta will start then?

Ghost Raptor's chimed in here regarding the rumors of the March 12 date and also the timing of I15.

[ QUOTE ]
1. The boxed edition and the actual launch of Issue 14 will not necessarily occur simultaneously. I can say with certainty that march 12th is *not* the launch date for Issue 14.

2. Issue 15 does not have a release date, or even a release window, yet. Nothing has been officially stated. The rumour floating around that Issue 15 will coincide with the 5th anniversary is nothing more than that: a rumour. Most likely started by a very wild piece of speculation based on a comment made in an interview that had nothing to do with release dates at all .

[/ QUOTE ]Yeah, that does seem early considering it's not even in open beta yet. Also, awful specific, that's not normal, is it?

Well, it's got an image of the retail box and it says something about it hitting "shelves this March" so I think the article *was* talking about the retail box. It just had its date wrong.

Mark my words, because I've been saying it for a long time. This is going to be a lot bigger than I think even folks here are giving it credit for. I really believe that the release of Issue 14 will be the most important date in City of Heroes history since its original launch, maybe even bigger. It's going to affect all facets of the game, whether or not you're a content creator or even set foot in the Mission Architect building.

Even more, if NCsoft continues opening up the game to user-generated content (i.e. improving the Mission Architect system post-I14, giving us more tools, staying on top of promoting arcs to official content), I think this might be a significant milestone in the history of the MMORPG genre. That's what I'm really excited about, that this is going to have ramifications far beyond our little gaming silo.

Wait, I'm confused. Press-Event? Is NCSoft actually spending some cash on marketing the game now?

There's not a comet about to hit earth that I haven't heard about is there?

There was actually. It was the size of Texas and missed us by about half the distance form here to the moon....

I don't think it's related though!

Congratulations on the good press!

Although to be honest, I was kind of hoping it would have ended with a quote from Ex Lib, Niv or Jay.. I'd have found that funny.

Maybe I just have an odd sense of humor.

Congratulations on the good press!

Still hate the visit Winscott mission- make it dropable, have it give actual exp or remove it altogether. PS- Down knows who you are.

Yep, the current press on CoX's Issue 14 seems better then the latest press on soon its to be competitor Champions On-Line as with the MA not only can you design your own Arch-Nemesis if you're so inclined - you can design tailored schemes for him and run these for yourself and friends.

Sounds reasonable, though I bet I15 will be late June. It's supposed to be mostly story-driven update, but it'll probably add features to the Mission Architect and other things here and there.

(And hopefully, for the love of God and everything holy, Energy Melee proliferated to Scrappers!)

Anyone know a good Issue 15 conjecture thread out there? I'd like to conject.

[/ QUOTE ]Regardless of how much the community accepts MA, it's a huge step forward for the devs. Previously, they had to create missions using a strange Excel spreadsheet format. Now, they can do everything they could do before (except custom maps/scripts) using their MA interface. Much easier, and probably much faster, too. The devs can use this system to create canon missions in the future, and more efficiently than they do now. That means they can get more stuff done, like more added content per issue.

I have to admit I don't care about a lack of a map editor if I have 1,000 map choices now.

I agree. This game has lots of unique maps that players might only see once or twice. So we can play with those until the devs figure out how to make a map editor workable.

The existing map choices may work for you, but I find I'm struggling a bit with it. It would be very helpful to be able to make small modifications to existing maps, to add or remove an item here or there to help set the scene. It would also be good to be able to modify spawn locations.

I find I'm coming up with mission ideas all the time that I can't create in the MA due to lack of ability to A) make transitions and B) make modifications to maps.

Hopefully some form of these two things (transitions and map mods) will be among the first things added to the existing MA.

Another thing that would be great would be if we could feed a set of coordinates and a zone name to the MA and have it automatically generate an outdoor map centered on the given coordinates. For storytelling purposes, I'd love to give my players the ability to enter a structure from the outside, as we can do on a mayhem/safeguard map, or fight in a known outside area, such as Gemini Park or Prometheus Park.
