I don't know if this has been stated before but i was wondering since we can customize AV and mobs can we also customize Giant Monsters?

If i can use ALL kind of mobs in building my own story-arc, I'm able to earn defeat badges that actually are only for the other side?

No. No regular badges earned for doing MA mishes.

Good thing I never asked for your response!

In short, I noted how the MA is a positive for the game and think anyone saying otherwise is being ridiculous The MA will not be perfect but it adds an entire new dimension to game play. Very important, IMO.

[/ QUOTE ]

Not to belabor the point, but I noted more than a few backhanded compliments mixed in with the praise, and that goggled me. But, well, welcome back, and I hope you can enjoy!

Come on, Arcanaville, rookie mistake. A giant, unstoppable robotic death machine as your loyal servant? That thing will turn on you faster than you can say "I am Nomad!"

Meanwhile, I recall hearing that Mastermind sets would not be available in the MA character builder: something about pet summoning powers making the AI weep. Does anyone know if that has changed? It would be nice to make custom MM opponents.

Oh snap, that it would. Sorta how Infernal (And plenty others I presume, Infernal is the only one I can think of off the top of my head) can summon those Demon things? That'd be awesome to make like a Mad Scientist AV that summons robots to go after you while he stands in the background with a Force Field, laughing about his evil plans, and the force field goes off after a while, so you can start beating on him, only for it go back up and have the whole process go on a few times.

*Foams at the mouth at how awesome that would be*

Well, one of the screen shots on the I-14 overview page clearly shows a Ninja/FF MM EB being created. http://www.cityofheroes.com/news/gam..._overview.html

Take that for what it's worth.

More like a neutral:

[ QUOTE ]
From what we saw and played the architect feature is certainly quite interesting, especially when considering the idea could be developed and built upon in the future. Considering NCsoft is allowing players to gain experience and rewards by playing the generated content, there appears to be plenty of incentive to dive in. At the very least, NCsoft now has a response for players unhappy with the content already in City of Heroes: go make your own.

[/ QUOTE ]

The others, under the veneer of fansite journalistic professionalism, can barely contain themselves from squeeing.

More importantly: Why wasn't I flown out to San Fran for a preview?

Wait, I'm confused. Press-Event? Is NCSoft actually spending some cash on marketing the game now?

There's not a comet about to hit earth that I haven't heard about is there?

There was actually. It was the size of Texas and missed us by about half the distance form here to the moon....

I don't think it's related though!

LOL I had the same idea this morning - I just checked Amazon and found the same availability date (price $19.99). I know that Amazon can change these dates, but it is usually a good indicator of availability.

If I recall correctly, Issue 14 will be live before the release of the new box. My guess is a release date of April 7th.

It was only a 10-story building but it was a LOT closer than that. It missed us by about 50,000 miles. The Moon is 240,000 miles away.

*inhaler puff*

BTW, if the release date given in one of those reviews Ex Posted on the 4th is accurate, 14 will be here a LOT sooner than April 7th.

My first short story (detective fiction) came out in Jan-2012. Other stories and books to follow, I hope. Because of "real writing". COH was a big part of that happening.

At least one of the gaming news sites that Ex linked to is saying it'll be live sometime in March ( link ).

Stuff can change, of course, and it's not exactly official information, but one has to wonder why they would have said that after a big NCSoft media dump unless it was something that NCSoft at least hinted at...

EDIT: This one implies March, as well (it was posted on 2/26 and says "set for release with Issue 14 next month").

EDIT2: This one says "at the end of March."

EDIT3: This one says "currently looking at a March 2009 release."

EDIT4: Also saying March: this one , this one , and this one , and probably most of the rest that I didn't check. I think we're probably looking to see Issue 14 sometime this month. (Unless something in closed beta goes horrifically wrong, of course.)

Geek Sugar seems to be saying that the boxed retail version of the Architect Edition will be released on March 12, but that conflicts with several other sites showing 4/14 for the box, so GS is no doubt mistaken.

I'm gonna say it'll be either 3/24 or 3/31. If they open up the beta anytime in the next week, then that'll leave nearly 2 to nearly 3 weeks of open beta. Seems like enough for a system that had a major part of its work done by late last year. (Standard code rant applies.)

Mark my words, because I've been saying it for a long time. This is going to be a lot bigger than I think even folks here are giving it credit for. I really believe that the release of Issue 14 will be the most important date in City of Heroes history since its original launch, maybe even bigger. It's going to affect all facets of the game, whether or not you're a content creator or even set foot in the Mission Architect building.

Even more, if NCsoft continues opening up the game to user-generated content (i.e. improving the Mission Architect system post-I14, giving us more tools, staying on top of promoting arcs to official content), I think this might be a significant milestone in the history of the MMORPG genre. That's what I'm really excited about, that this is going to have ramifications far beyond our little gaming silo.

We've been saving Paragon City for eight and a half years. It's time to do it one more time.
