A DE tree AV?

The Abrams is one of the most effective war machines on the planet. - R. Lee Ermy.

Q: How do you wreck an Abrams?

A: You crash into another one.

Hmmm... Save a catgirl from a DE Herder... that has possibilities.

Most definitely a step in the right direction NCSoft and Development Team!

The new building looks very nice, and adds even more to the cityscape. I for one am glad that this was fleshed out, and can't wait to get behind the wheel!

Keep up the good work.

Question?
IN the MA ,If you want your AV to be a VEAT
Do you need to have them Unlocked? ( meaning a lvl 50 on red side) Or will all Arc types be open to the MA?

My main consern with the mission creator is the Testing aspect of the game.

I've delt with player created games (not MMOs but just stupid little pixle games) in the past and I've noticed the main problem with them is that most people will not bother to test their own content to see if it's even possible to complete. I have litterally seen player created content that consisted of an enemy sitting right on top of you so as soon as the game STARTS you've allready failed before you can even press a button.

My sugestion to get arround this, make it so you're not even allowed to publish any content untill you as the creater can complete the mission in testing. This way there's no way for untested content to be published for other users.

It would allso be nice for testing purpuses if the mission designer does not get debt for dying in a mission and in the window with "go to Hospital" you get another button to send you back to the editor. You can still be rezed as normal if you're testing with a team or have the ability to rez yourself but the designer should be able to send himself back to the editor after being killed in a mission while it's still in the testing phaise.

My other concern is editing AFTER it's allready been published. Say, I want to change the look of an Elite Boss in one of my missions but it's allready a published mission, I make a spelling mistake that I didn't notice originally and want to go back and correct it, or just new content get reliced and I want to add to a story arch. Can I go back and reedit my published content?

Again if I could, I still think the same rules apply, test before you republish.

I'd allso wondering, if I am working on editing a story arch that I've allready published would the original version still be active untill I publish my changes to it and will I loose my rateing for updateing an allready published story arch?

According to pohsyb, arcs that you unpublish to edit retain their ratings, so the answer to your question is "yes".

Current Published Arcs
#1 "Too Drunk to be Alcoholic" Arc #48942
#2 "To Slay Sleeping Dragons" Arc #111486
#3 "Stop Calling Me"

I believe Castle said it is unlikely that Kheld or SoA powersets will be available for players to use. However, there are groups in the game (such as PPD or Arachnos) that use some of the powers available to Khelds and SoAs, so you should be able to use those.

I did a Google News search for "City of Heroes Mission Architect" and one of the articles that came up was this:

http://www.geeksugar.com/2859675

The last line caught my attention: "Personally, I'm excited for this new edition of City of Heroes, which will be available March 12 on your PC or Mac. Are you already a City of Heroes fan?"

That's... only two weeks away. I see Open Beta happening by then, but release? Already?

That article is about the boxed Architect Edition, which Amazon.com says won't be available until April 14th. One of them is wrong, of course, and the April 14th date seems more realistic.

However, considering that the bulk of the MA was undoubtedly done by the time Issue 13 went into beta, is it possible that things are going so well in Closed Beta that we might be looking at a much sooner release date than we would otherwise expect?

With the hints that Issue 15 might be out around the time of the 5th anniversary (4/28), a mid-March release for Issue 14 would almost be a necessity.

The video was lame and unfunny. I can see how some people might find that kind of humor funny. I like the mac adds, because well... machinima work with this kind of humor. Live action (in my opinion) does not. To the video I say "boo" to i14 I say "yawn". I hope i15 is close behind with something worth playing.

I have a concern about the mission architect.
I have an older machine with not a lot of memory. Normally, I am fine but I still crash occcasionally at the market.
I have read that there are like 160 arcs on the architect now, in closed beta with a relative handful of people making them. By the time it gets to live there could be thousands of arcs.
Do we have to download every arc every time we try to access it? If so, I can see my machine exploding and me being completly unable to play it.
Is there a type of filter where you can download only certain missions?

You shouldn't have to download anything. The missions are saved on the game, not your computer.

He might not literally mean downloading the missions. He might just be talking about something similar to how the market interface works, which can cause crashes and lots of lag when you first access it for machines with low RAM.

Hopefully the MA mission list will have a sort of default listing (like, when you open it, it'll show you the top 25 arcs or the 25 newest arcs or something) and then you can use the sort feature to look for other stuff. If it lists every single arc ever created (the way the market loads every single item), I can see it being problematic for slower machines.

Sence when does the Market load every single item?

All I see is a catigory menue to one side where you can search for spicific items and on the other side seems to be a random list of stuff (and I say random list because the items listed there seem to be different damn near every time I click on the market.) but it sertainly is not every single item you could possibly search for.

Items appear to be listed according to how rare they are and in alfibetical order. Try looking for something like a costume recipie in the so called list of everything and let me know if you find it.

Some items I never find unless I look under that spicific catigory because they're never even listed in the "list of everything" yeah it's a freaking huge list I'll give you that but it's not everything.

Well, it might not be *every* single item, but whatever it is, the way the market interface loads has been a common complaint since the inception of the market. It definitely loads way more information than is absolutely necessary when you initially click on the WW/BM rep. You may not notice it as much if you have a lot of RAM, but it's a big issue with anything less than 1GB, to the point that my computers used to frequently mapserver upon first clicking on the market. Not a problem anymore, since one of them has a full gig now and the other has 2, but it's information overload with less than 1GB.

I was just saying, that when the other poster mentioned having to "download missions" from the MA, he may have just been referring to a similar information overload if the MA mission list loads in a similar way to the market.

Actually, since you said this, I just checked out of curiosity. Costume pieces *are* listed in the "so called list of everything." Just click on the WW/BM rep and scroll down the big list. Scrolling down the big list, you'll see costume pieces listed, in alphabetical order, along with everything else. This is without setting any options in the search boxes to the left.

You may have to use the up and down arrows to scroll to more finely control your scrolling, since dragging the scroll bar seemed to make things fly by too quickly. But the costume pieces really are there on initial market load.

EDIT: Screenshot. Also, rarity of items has nothing to do with the listing. It's just alphabetical order, and yes, it does appear to be every single item in the game, as I said in my other post, which is what I've always heard when people complain about how the market loads. Bottom line is, let's hope the MA interface doesn't do something similar.

Posted

Well, lets put it this way. It appears that there is allready 1 filter active when you click on the Market by default. That is the "For Sale or Bidding" meaning that items not currently avalible won't be listed.

You can still search for them and bid on them weather they're avalible or not but if you're only looking at avalible items they wouldn't show up.

Allso there is something other than alphabeticle in play unless they changed it. I've seen lists that go from a-z and then back to a again grouping items togeather according to how rare they were to find. The last time I really looked at it though was before i13 so it may of changed sence then so it's just alphabeticle now.

Yeah. This is what I was talking about, I meant load not download. I blame the hour and the fact that I am computer illeterate.
If we have to LOAD every single mission ever created in order to use the architect I, and a lot of other people with slow machines, will be in a world of trouble.
The more I think about it though, the more I feel that there will probably be some sort of interface where you choose which missions you want to see. Like "Show me five star missions" or "Show me Dev choice missions" something like that.
That should make it better.
