I just bought the mac special edition

Will this basically allow me to play the live version?
I'm on the Aluminum Macbook if that changes anything.

I think with a 30 minute timer it would serve its purpose a lot more. And it may entice people to run more of those long so called epic TFs in the Shard.

[/ QUOTE ]

You don't think it won't do that anyway? Imagine a full team with it and assemble the team.

[/ QUOTE ]

Not to the extent it would be if the cool down timer was shorter. As it is now the 6+ hour TFs you will be able to use it maybe 3 times. Im guessing maybe once. It may save you 2-3 minutes of travel for the team. Big deal, 5 minutes is nothing when you are running a 6+ hour TF.

Again, it would server a better purpose if it had a shorter recharge timer. And would be well worth me spending 40.00 for it for both my accounts. Right now its not worth 9.99 for my account.

Why is Broadsword the only weapon in the set? Kinda sucks.... just to give it to one set...

Windows user here (Vista, sadly), and I'll be buying the full pack tomorrow. The costume set just looks that good.

Also, about the mission teleport power: Yeah, 2 hours is just wrong. I think it should be much longer (Somewhere from 6-24 hours). Players are just getting so lazy...

I'm Kobold_Prime and I approve this message: I would have loved to have some CoH-style travel powers back in Morrowind/Oblivion...

An MMO closure is definitely not a joke, and I have no intention of making light of it. And it can be a tough and emotional thing for players to go through, speaking from personal experience. And I know that it's often much harder on the developers than on the publisher. However, I also know that it doesn't necessarily turn you into a sad, depressed sack of tears for the rest of your life. People can move past it, and heal.

I dont see the really BIG diff. in this and being able to go to the base and hit any zone in the city. It fits the concept and 2 hours is ok... 1 hour would have been best, really nothing should take more than an hour to recharge...

on another note.... I HATE the fact that you can use the cape at level 1 BOO! totally cheapens the Hero1 Cape Mish...

My impression on the mission teleporter is that it should be mainly used for those out of the way places like Dark Astoria, Boomtown, Perez Park, Independence Port, and Crey's Folly where it would take a good 5 minutes to get there by walking. There is the Oro Portal, Pocket D teleporter, and Base Teleporter to get to the mission doors faster. Using the mission teleporter for every mission would make it too overpowered.

Although I wouldn't mind having the mission teleporter shortened to one hour because 30 minutes would make the other teleporters pointless.

The first step in being sane is to admit that you are insane.

I'm not sure if anyone's mentioned this (19 pages is a lot to [not] read through) but I'm pretty stoked that I got free trial accounts in Lineage II and Guild Wars. I know, I probably could have gotten them anyways, but it was just a nice unexpected bonus.

I thought that was a cool bonus too. I've wanted to try a trial if Lineage II for awhile, but I couldn't find a trial anywhere on their site.

I'll just throw my 2 influence in and say I'd like to see the mission tp power time reduced to 30 mins...1 hour would be the 'max' I would do it/like it.

I'd just like to be reassured that there are female versions of the costume items, and that they look good. Considering that a valkyrie is traditionally female, it's odd that the pictures have focused almost entirely on male characters.

But the mission teleporter is tempting, even with the two hour recharge.

[/ QUOTE ]

Here is a link to the city scoop article I did on the pack a few weeks back. There is a screenshot of the female Valkyrie set

[/ QUOTE ]

That's why I said "almost entirely". That's the only picture of a female valkyrie outfit I've seen. If that's all there is to the female set, I'm not really interested.

[/ QUOTE ]
I'm kind of disappointed that the Valkyrie helmet has neither hair (for females) nor any sort of neck guard in its options, as the samurai and Roman helmets do.

The Valkyrie costume set is really awesome, I'm surpised. I expected something "okay" but I really like it, I already have ideas for a few of my characters. The wings without armor are really nice if the angel wings don't fit that much too.

I love having a cape in Outbreak for some reason too.

Ok I just downloaded the Mac beta client. How do I change it to Live client?

Having seen a bunch of pictures and read multiple reviews, I've decided that I will indeed be purchasing this Pack; however, I'm doing so with some reservations. I like the idea of these Booster Packs, but they really need to start offering more "bang for the buck" for me to continue paying for them.

The Cyborg Pack I thought was a fairly well balanced offer: we got a (not quite) full costume set, some emotes, auras, and a nifty power. (My only complaint about the set is that, as someone who doesn't like bulky overlays, I was disappointed that there was not a regular chest option with the costume set. It's bad enough when free costumes have gaps in them, something I'm paying extra for should have all options available.)

The Valkyrie set is, unfortunately, less impressive. One costume, which I personally don't care for much in its entirety -- although I can put some of the individual pieces to good use. Only one weapon option, with a set that would have been ideally suited for other choices (shield, bow, axe, mace). No emotes. No auras. And a power of dubious value.

My problem with the mission teleporter isn't a standard complaint about its recharge -- I just don't feel the need for it. I like using my travel powers, and have no compulsion to just be dropped off at my mission. (Seriously, at this rate, why even bother having zones? Just have one door that takes players to every instanced mission.)

I hope future Packs are much more fully realized than this latest offering.

(Are the wings and cape from the costume set available at level one, like the combat auras -- or do they need to be unlocked?)

I think the costume options - as there are way more than just enough to fit "one" - are far, far better than the Cyborg pack, really. Far more of a full bunch of options. I do wish there were a couple more weapons options but really there are plenty of those already and most work very well with this set.

Also, in my observations in the screenshot area, this set blends better with other existing sets, whereas the Cyborg pieces don't.

This isn't like the Cyborg Pack. That was intentially created as a booster pack. These items were given as bonus extras to people using the Mac client and they can be purchased by the PC users.

Yes, you can have those items at level one.

Got the pack today... LOVE IT!
The wings are what really got me interested

Here is Adileh FLYING to the next miss on the

Adileh in the Shadow Shard

As for the mission TP, I only use it to get to hard to
reach missions across zones; else I'll use O-Portal,
Base TPs, and the Pocket-D Pass.

Is it just me or am I the only one who still street sweeps
on my way to missions? Even with my characters with
some sort of travel power????

The cape is the big attraction to me, as well as the wings.

I'd buy it if the power recharged in 1 hour, but at 2 it's a maybe.

I bought the $19.99 pack last night. It was fast and easy. I logged out of the game, bought the pack at the NCSoft location, logged back onto the game, and there everything was.

I created a new BS/Shields alt (lvl 11 now) a couple of weeks ago named Valerie the Valkyrie (yes, I came up with the name first, the powers second) and had her in the "Tights with Skin-Metal" outfit. From the Valkyrie pack, I added the wings (of course), the headband with wings, the sword, the shoulder pads, the gloves, and the belt.

Unfortunately, the boots were enormous and didn't look right on her at all (and Valerie is an Amazonian-type warrior, too). I don't know if they had the men's boots accidently for the female builds or what, but they just didn't look right at all.

I tested the Mission TP and liked it. The 2 hour cool off may be long, but i don't care. The previous night, my lvl 31 Stalker was doing missions for Timothy Raymond, and he had her running to every corner of Nerva Archepelago, back-and-forth, back-and-forth. I was sold on buying this pack just on the TP alone.

Additionally, any USB mouse will work on a Mac. I've used a Logitech Trackman Wheel on my Macs for years.

They could have given it to dual blades it looks like. It looks maybe slightly longer then, but similar to, the fantasy blade. (Shinier of course)

You can choose a different kind of boots, like stilettos, then choose the Valkyrie skin and then the Valkyrie pattern (if that makes sense). Essentially under boots you would see Stiletto - Valkyrie - Valkyrie. This will give you some boots that match the rest of the outfit, but without being so oddly bulky. I think the gloves might work the same way.

Personally, I don't think the length of recharge should be based on other portals available. Basically, not everyone has the use of SG portals, Ouro portal you need to be a minimum of lvl 25 or it's of no use and many toons that can really benefit from a mission portal are the lower end toons that haven't even reached travel power level yet. And sure, they can get the temp powers but we all know they are slow and cannot be enhanced.

I would seriously like to see the recharge time shortened though because of situations I was in just yesterday. My contact was in IP, he game me a mission in Dark Astoria so I happily used my mission portal power but I finished the mission in much less time than 2 hours and the silly contact still hadn't given me a cell phone number so I had to trudge back to IP from the far end of DA. Yes, I do have a travel power but at level 28 it is still relatively slow and SJ in DA is just a pain in the neck anyway. Even a recharge of one hour would be more reasonable IMO.
