No... He meant that if you used it to create a new account, you would have 12 slots per server.
There are still people who created their account with a basic CoH package after the combo amnesty date.
THEY have 10 slots per server, I believe.
Ex meant that adding this package to your lower slot account will not take you up to 12 slots per server.
ETA: pending further clarification, I might be wrong. . . (see the next post.)

Everyone who plays this game has 12 open slots on every server, with the potential to buy or claim up to 36. There has never been 10 on a server. Only 8 for each COH and COV separately, 12 when you put them on the same account, and 12 ever since they opened both sides to all accounts.
[/ QUOTE ]
OK, yes, It had been so long I forgot. 8, not 10.
But I am pretty sure IF you started a new account AFTER the amnesty open both sides date, with an OLD CoH box.... You now have 8 per. And/or only one side.
(Again, I haven't done that. I could be wrong... but pretty sure that is what they said)
ETA: OOps I aM wrong... see next post.
.
OK, searched.. and I WAS wrong...
There were TWO merge dates...
July 16, last year LH said:
"What happened last year (as announced here) was giving all existing and former players who only had one side (CoH for example, but not CoV) was the other side. However, this didn't apply to any boxes sitting on store shelves. Now, if you find a CoH box and buy it, you get the other side."

Sooo, we are back to square one in whether the article was wrong or not.
.
About the timer on the Mission Door Transporter......all I have to say is this, if you are a member of a SG that has all the SG Beacons and the teleporters to go with them all you have to do is get to a base portal door. Also at level 25 you should have the Ouroboros Portal (if you dont its your own fault because all you have to go is go through the portal at 25 and then to where the Exploration Badge in Ouroboros is to keep the portal permanently (I forget if that has changed). Also you can go through Pocket D (provided you have the VIP pass) which typically the Ouro and D portals typically recharge during your current mission. However if you are able to get to your SG base fairly quickly then you should be able to TP anywhere except directly into the PvP Zones.
I get that the Mission Door teleporter takes too long to recharge, however what the heck would the point be of having the city in a game entitled CITY of Heroes when you could just teleport to the mission door constantly?
On a side note though I think that Wentworths should be converted to an instanced location to end the friggin lag everytime you happen to go by one (Talos Island is the Worst! with WW, train station and the base portal all being located in that proximity is just nuts). The reason I say this is the last few days everytime I go into a WW and attempt to access it (doesnt matter where or when during "peak" time) I get lost connection to Map Server, for which I get booted from the game and I have to log back in and attempt it again in the hopes I dont get booted...yet again!

another question from the same post on mmorpg.com. the coh correspondent states (quite vehemently, because this one time, at band camp, she called customer support), that the 30 days you're paying for with the mac pack is *free* time and therefore *free* time does not count towards your veteran time.
does the 30 days that comes with the $20 mac pack, count towards vet time? for that matter, do "any" of the free time you get count towards vet time? the coh correspondent rambles on both ways, and ends up saying she has a few months free time on her account, after stating that people are making their "usual stories" about having more vet time than paid time.
http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/218717
It does sound dumb doesnt it? However, like it or not, its actually the truth. I do believe I covered it in my article about the Lusca Raid. Any time you participate in one of those "Get a month for free," deals, that month does NOT count toward your Vet Rewards. Only paid months count. And even though the cost of the MAC package is enough to include the cost of a subscription, that is not all it includes. It is being marketed complete with the first month's paid subscription for free. That first month subscription likely does NOT count toward your Vet Rewards then, but as of yet I've had no verification of this. To those who are hung up on badges and the associated bling, this may be a serious consideration, and worth the two month wait and the extra $5 bucks.
But it's nice that you recognize it all as good information anyway.
If I cannot quote CoX Customer Support, who am I to believe? The likes of you?
Wikked, I never said the beginning month that came free with a new game/account counted against Veteran's Rewards. I said it MIGHT ---AND I said that I wasn't sure. Only after I was challenged by you two did I explain my reasoning, which referenced the FACT that non-paid subscription months do not count toward Vet Rewards. As I stated, this comes from CoX Customer Support, because I once found myself one month short of what I was owed in Vet Rewards, and this is what THEY told me, in person, on the phone. I had at one point extended an invitation to a friend to join CoH, and recieved the one month subscription for free as a reward. However it was classified as an unpaid month when counted toward Vet Rewards and therfore set my account one month behind in that regard.
So, Damian7 may very well have three months that count toward his Vet Rewards, for which HE never paid. Or maybe he is just full of his usual stories, I don't know. I don't really care. He can fill his posts with all the presumptions, contrived "facts" and lordly psycho-babble that he wants. (If it meant a thing, the editors of this site would have gone knocking on his door instead of mine.) But neither of you will be permitted to trash my name as a writer and you better darn well watch your step.
Political correctness is a stench in the nose of God. Yes, your God(s) also.
It counts toward vet time. Period. You've paid for it. It's not "free".
Lol her account of a Lusca raid was pitiful too. Sigh.

Sadly I just don't get that she's got any love for either the game OR the community. I was actually offended by her lusca "report", it was so miserably off base. It really did feel like she was actively attempting to sway people the wrong way, to have a worse experience. That's just what I've felt though. *shrug*

The worst part is that she is not an MMORPG.com representative. She is a volunteer that they gave a title to just because she is willing to write a couple of articles a month about ingame stuff.
The reason some of us have tried to call her on her misinformation is because we have been members on MMORPG.com for quite some time and hate to see false information givin out as fact. People will believe her just because she has the "CoH Correspondent" title under her forum name.

thanks for the advice, but, i didn't get an answer to the clarification i asked for in this thread.
could i get the information, please?
edit: and it's not an mmorpg.com thing other than they're not having anyone fact check their correspondents. pretty much all redpill's articles have been um, of the same caliber.
i would just like clarification on whether starting a new account with the mac pack does or does not give you 12 free character slots... because, that is what redpill has posted, and until they take away that "correspondent" by her name -- people will believe her statements.
also, do the 30 days of gametime count towards a vet badge or not?
i'd like to have someone official from here to give an answer so that it is not simply my word and so people won't be buying/not buying based upon erroneous caveats made by someone with "correspondent" by its name.
Political correctness is a stench in the nose of God. Yes, your God(s) also.
All accounts open get 12 open slots on every server, period. There's no "extra" involved. Never has been.
All paid time - including the time on every pack - counts toward vet time.

The answers to your questions are the following:
Does starting a new account on a Mac Pack grant 12 character slots?
This can be a confusing question because of the history behind character slots. With the original product 'City of Heroes' users received with their subscription 8 character slots. When 'City of Villains' launched that number was increased to 12 character slots for any users that purchased that product. Last November when NCsoft Acquired the City of Heroes Franchise all editions of the game were back coded to be inclusive of both City of Heroes & City of Villains thereby making all accounts reflect the 12 character slots. With the launch of Issue 12: Midnight Hour, Positron made this Announcement which effectively outlined our Character Slot Purchase Feature along with corresponding Veteran Rewards for long term subscription holders. Players can now have a maximum of 36 characters per server.
Which is where the confusion is creeping into this situation. Some current users reading the 12 Character Slots bullet of the Mac Edition are interpreting that to mean 12 additional character slots which would be in addition to the 12 you start with on a new account. The marketing of this product is for new users and the product for new accounts grants 12 character slots only. Users that are upgrading their current account so they can get the game time, mission teleporter, and costume items will be receiving no additional character slots. This question has already been asked previously in this thread but I gave a more comprehensive answer here as there is still some residual confusion.
Does my purchased game time count towards Veteran Rewards?
Yes, your purchase counts towards Veteran Rewards, when you apply the "upgrade" to your current account you should see some changes in your billing statement. For example if your subscription was currently set to bill you on Feb. 10, 2008, after applying the code it should state next bill due Mar. 10, 2008. This billed time counts towards your Veteran Rewards. If you do not experience the above scenario when upgrading your account, or if you have created a new account instead of upgrading your current account then please contact our billing support through PlayNC Support and select Account Support on the drop down options where applicable.
Any additional questions I'd certainly be happy to answer.
As for MMORPG.com Correspondents there is a specific process for people to apply for these positions, it is a volunteer position and one we are happy to see emerge. I have contacted the Community Manager from MMORPG.com and asked for an introduction to our assigned correspondents. Opening the lines of communication will help to promote, educate and enhance the experience for MMORPG.com & City of Heroes end users. Your feedback is important to us and we do realize this process happens through many sources.

I upgraded my account with the new Mac Pac, and I only have one complaint. A trivial cosmetic complaint, but it irritates me a bit. The new Vakyrie costume clips with pretty much every single shield in existance. Anything that can be done about that?

and for mmorpg.com, unless you're going to be writing the articles for all of the correspondents... well, go read all of the articles by the different mmorpg.com correspondents for yourself. they do speak for themselves.
edit: just so there's no confusion, what we're talking about (the correspondent), this wasn't an official news announcement on the site, that was already there... this was a thread on the forum, where she copy/pasted the mac announcement and then made/defended "caveats".
so, the only reason "correspondent" was brought up, is because she made the post and vehemently defends everything she types as gospel. it wasn't an official news item, it was just another of her threads.

I've only had problems with the big armored valkyrie gloves, but no there's nothing you can do about it other than use the valkyrie gloves that are under the smooth/bare catergories, which is like the normal ones, minus the big bulky armor pieces.

You still haven't gotten back to us with the clarification to the statement you made which seems to contradict the statement Positron made. You said that, "Purchase of the MAC Version is necessary if you want to run on a MAC OS" but Positron said that one "can download the Mac client for free when it is released."
So... what's the official word?

The point is that you do not need the mac edition code to download the mac edition client. Anyone who already has an account and doesn't buy the mac edition can still download and play the game on a mac.

I purchased the Mac Pac a few days ago myself. I don't have a Mac, I just wanted the costume set and Mission Teleporter.
My complaints are also that the gloves clip with shields and the prestige wings (part of the Valkyrie set) clip with the Valkyrie sets' own skirt. What the heck? A costume set that clips with itself??? Other than that the costume set looks great.
Another thing is that a lot of the new costume sets look really similar. The chest peice from the Valkyrie set for example looks almost exactly like the Enforcer chest peice. It'd be nice to see some sets that look different.
How long does the items from the Mac Special Ed. to be applied to the Training Room? I understand it might take a couple days (such as when a person reactivates their account they have to wait for a while to be able to access/use the TR), but four days?
Just wondering if this is an account issue or a technical bug.
Not sure if this has been asked or not (didnt want to read entire thread) but is the mission teleporter effected by the logged out toon reset timer?(the one that takes place after like 15-30min of being logged off)
oh and 1 hour and not effected by global rech has my vote, that way i can use it in a handy situational context instead of once or maybe twice a play session
