Okay, let's be generous with the numbers, then.

Two people start under Atlas' statue in AP, both lv 25 with 3 flight SOs in their fly power. Person A has the teleport power, Person B does not. Both heroes are going to the same mission

Person B starts out... Atlas statue to Yellow Line...30 seconds, tops. You go to Skyway City, then fly to the Green Line. 60 seconds, tops. Your mission is in the very bottom left corner of the map. Give or take 4 minutes, tops. So, you spend about 5.5 minutes traveling. Somewhat painful, but certainly doable.

Person B starts out. Teleport, takes him a couple seconds. A friend PMs him after the mission and asks him for help with a mission he has in AP. But, him mission transporter power still has an hour and a half to cool down (this is assuming the mission he just did took him half an hour, which is being generous, depending on the mission). So, he has to fly all the way back up to the Kings Row entrance, then over to the yellow line, and then finally to the mission's entrance. Easily 4 minutes, possibly more.

Essentially, the 5.5 minutes you saved from AP -> IP was reduced to about 1.5 minutes saved because of the power's CD.

Now, granted, these numbers may not be completely accurate but they are close, I flew the course described on my defender while typing this.

EDIT: @StormKidd, it will push back your next renew date by 30 days. So, if your card is scheduled to be charged on Jan 20th, when you apply the serial for the Mac edition to your account, the next bill date will be Feb 20th instead, and you'll unlock the Valkyrie set and Mission Transporter power ingame.

Wait...what?

You would have had to travel the second route anyway. How does that subtract from the time you saved from the first mission?

Fine, don't subtract it. Either way, you still only save 5.5 minutes or so every 120. I don't find that very useful. In most cases, you'd be already in IP anyway if you were running missions there.

All of this is moot anyway, PlayNC will almost certainly leave it as is, obviously they felt it was appropriate where it is, which it is, though the practicality of the power is somewhat diminished by the unusually long recharge.

It's designed for the times you have to go from the far corner of Dark Astoria to the far end of IP. Or the times you can't find the mission in the underground tunnels of Faultline/Brickstown.

Yeah, it would be nice, but since its not, I don't see me paying out any money for it either. This power's recharge should have shared the same recharge timer are the Vet Power Assemble the Team or the Base Teleporter. Not the timer it has now.

Well thats not how it was originally advertised to us. My thinking on this was that it would be a perk that can be used to to tp you to every mission. I was thinking it would have like a 5 minute recharge or something.

Providing you are a costume junkie, sure its great. But for those of us who could care less about sporting the same costume around as about 500 other people on the server, I would like ot spend my money on the temp power. And with the way the timer is set now, NCNC will not get any extra money from me.

And I would assume quite a few others won't either. The timer needs to be shortened to get me to pay for it.

Indeed..the costume pieces are the main reason I bought the pack, though I was surprised when I saw a 2 hour cooldown on the power.

Clearly this new power is an outlier compared to similar powers. The other purchasable power, the Pocket D TPer can sometimes refresh in less than 15 minutes while this purchasable power, while more useful since it goes to your final destination, instead of a hub, is 120 minutes.

The Base Portal can be a hub to 24 zones and recharge in 15 minutes.

If the Mission Door TPer's recharge is reducible with global recharge, I could possible see letting it stand at 120 minutes, since so many players go for recharge. But it's much more fairer if it were on a 60 minute irreducible timer.

OK, but compare it to how effective it is. I'm in Atlas Park, I have a mission in Brickstown on the far side of the zig from the hospital. (I won't make it one of the underground doors).

Ouroboros portal...go to ouroboros, go to founder's fall, tram to bricks, travel across bricks to mission

Base Portal...zone to base, find bricks teleporter, if you have one go to bricks and travel across bricks to mission. If not, port to IP or Talos (the beacon locations are reasonably close to the tram), tram to bricks, travel across bricks to the mission

Pocket D Teleporter - zone to Pocket D, leave tikibar, make your way across the pocket D to the hero elevator, find the founders falls exit, zone to Bricks, travel across bricks to get to the mission

(Summon Teammates and Assemble the Team and Recall Friend require someone to get to the mission point and not directly comparable.)

In terms of time saving, you only zone once (as opposed to a minimum of two with the others) and no need to travel across the zone. And if you're a stranger in a strange land (a level 20 scrapper sidekicked into a level 40 team), avoiding traveling across the zone can definitely ease the risks).

And that's just going across bricks to an easy-to-find door. Now make it a mission in the Storm Palace, or make it a mission in one of the %@#$# hidden doors that you KNOW is around here somewhere, you've been at this door before and it's supposed to be here so where the ^#$@! is it?

Would I object if it was reduced to an hour? Nope. But those who are thinking it should have the same recharge as a base teleporter are smoking something. There's already complaints about the game becoming dependent on microtransactions, so any "must-have" purchasable power would cause a lot of problems. That's why the self-destruct power doesn't do the same damage as a blaster nova and why the mission teleporter isn't an every-mission or every-other-mission power.

BTW, for your form, the mission door teleporter is only available at level 3 (same reasons as base and pocket D porters) and is not affected by +recharge powers.

You know, I was just thinking. If this power's recharge was a lot less than what it is now. We would probably see a lot more people in the Shadow Shard.

Just a thought, cuz I know how the devs like us to play the "content" they make. This power would entice more people to use the zone.

A five minute cooldown would be insanely overpowered. That's up every single mission. If you can't see the problem with that...well, then I wouldn't really be that surprised. But most people would.

We already get infinite jet packs for free travel powers, we get teleporters to almost all zones, we get base teleporters to get to the base. We got teleporters to pocket D. So again a 5 minute recharge isnt that bad.

Please, this game is a [censored] time sink and thats all it is, this power would not hurt a damn thing if the cool down period was shortened a great deal.

You can post anyway you want when it comes to zoning to other zones to get to missions, this power saves you what a whopping 1 minute by putting you at the mission door.

Yeah, I can see how this can be used to gain a lot of XP. So please increase the timer to 5 hours, we need to slow people down even more.

New stuff, cool, the recharge time while high doesn't affect us greatly. We seem to be doing fine with the slew of stuff we have now. My wife is really looking forward to the costume pieces.

BTW, here's where I'm particularly looking forward to having this ready.

(1) In the STF, there's one mission in Peregrine Island that sends you through a portal. Bamph, I'm there.

(2) Many of the Shadow Shard TFs send you back to Paragon Island for a mission or two, and then back to the shard. The trip back to the Shard is going to be a lot faster.

(3) As mentioned above, that door that I just freaking can't find. (There's a few of them.)

(4) Sometimes, I get invited to teams doing portal missions in PI. (Sometimes, I get invited at levels where I could make it across PI in a try or to, but not looking forward to it.)

(5) Add-hoc Cimerora teleporter. Call Marcus up to get a mission, port to mission door. "Sorry I failed your mission, Marcus"

It won't be a must-have

Yes. It's actually cheaper. For $20, you get the packs that would cost $10 and a month of game time which would cost $15.

Hmm.. I bought the expansion and added it to my existing account, but it seems to have pushed when I get my next Vet reward badge a month later then I would have apparently due to the free month you get from the mac version purchase?

Nothing in this game is a must have, as EvilRyu has already said. A 30 minute timer would have been a much better cool down timer than 2 hours.

I find some mission on average take about 30-40 minutes unless of course you are skipping most of the mobs and doing it for speed.

I think with a 30 minute timer it would serve its purpose a lot more. And it may entice people to run more of those long so called epic TFs in the Shard.

The power only does one thing, gets you to your mission faster, it does not earn you xp, it does not kill the mobs for you, so there is no way you can call it overpowered just because it can get you to your mission faster, otherwise, you may as well say the Ouroboros Portal is overpowered as well. Hell even bases with Telepads could be considered the same thing.

That's odd, I just checked and my Vet Rewards are right on schedule. Perhaps you should take this up with support.

As to the recharge time debate--Beef's made some convincing arguments. I was on the fence before, but now I have to agree: It should be shorter.

I do think 2 hours is a bit too long to see on something like this, but I do agree that shortening it down to 5-30 minutes would be a bit much. If we all could just teleport to each and every mission, it would make it pretty much useless to have a city. Why not just have a login, and then a select your mission button? The Devs have put way too much work into the city and the details for us to just skip over it non stop, IMO.

But I can definitely understand why people would want it shorter, especially those of us who have played this game forever and could draw you a map of each zone already. lol
