Quote:Pretty much this. I thought I'd be around forever but about the time of the no solo Incarnate paths, when the rest of my SG left in disappointment (which I shared), the odds of my doing so went way down. I actually cancelled my renewal last week, but it won't happen until December.I always thought that I would be here 'til the lights went out, but recently I've been struggling to feel that way. I've decided to wait until the promised solo/small team Incarnate path announcement to make my decision as to what I'll do.
I quoted Shrike because I'm crazy jealous of the artwork of her characters.

Quote:Zwillinger's post notifying us of the change (the day before implementation) says that they will continue to try to implement this in the future.Your thread is the latest I have heard about it.
I wasn't even aware that there was any intention whatsoever of revisiting the issue. I figured it was working from the company's standpoint and additionally functional for them in that it created a void players could fill with cash.
I hope someone has some update. I am curious to see if there's any intention to ever give us our tokens in a lump like they do the premium players.

Quote:Since announcing City of Heroes Freedom weve been extremely excited to share all of the new features coming with Issue 21, one of the most exciting being the Paragon Rewards Program.
Weve fielded several questions over the last several weeks about the Paragon Rewards Program, one of which being about how Paragon Reward Tokens are awarded for players who purchase Multiple Month Subscription plans. Our original design, and what weve been sharing, is that VIP players who purchased multi month subscription plans would be awarded all Paragon Reward Tokens at the time of purchase. Unfortunately due to technical limitations that we have been unable to overcome, this will not be the case. Instead, VIP players who purchase multiple month subscription plans will receive their Paragon Rewards Token each month on their billing cycle, at the same time they receive their monthly allotment of Paragon Points. Please note that Paragon Reward Tokens granted by the purchase of Paragon Points will grant at the time of purchase.
We do sincerely apologize that we were not able to launch Issue 21 with this feature and will continue to endeavor to implement it in the future. -
Red Tomax is down and what I see in MIDS doesn't match what I thought the duration was. Anyone know the duration for sure?
Thanks! -
Quote:I think those last couple sentences are key, and again, Smeg mentioned it as well. If you're not going to be hardcore tanking, mostly solo and small teams, then I think I'd go with Hibernate. With small teams you should be able to set up so that foes have to run by you (and CE and Icicles) to get to the team, and I don't think you'll miss taunt all that much. However, I am happy with my build and I don't have the luxury of both. I want to keep all my other powers and attacks. I am also not likely to be doing any hardcore tanking on my character. I just like the power-sets. I'll be soloing or playing on small & medium teams with friends.
If you were going to do hardcore tanking then I'd recommend taunt. But for what you're doing I think Hibernate would be fine. -
I think I'd take Taunt. I just don't wind up using Hibernate all that much, but Taunt I use all the time in teams. It's nice to have the extra ranged taunt, and I like the range debuff too.
However I can't argue with Smeg's logic, it makes perfect sense.

I use Popmenus for mine. Works great and it only takes one button for any number of costumes with emotes.

If this was on purpose it was at least bad communication (adding to all the bad communication we've already had for Freedom). If it wasn't on purpose I sure hope they can change it back.

Quote:I've said forever that every power should have a noFX option./suppressclosefxdist 255 and /suppressclosefx 1 is your best bet.
I would love for a No FX option as well - but as should be obvious by many of the answers:
1) for most people, it isn't a problem
2) most people don't consider something a problem unless it affects them personally
So I'm not holding my breath for a fix.
SuppressCloseFX is exactly what I do too. It won't take away everything, or at least it doesn't at 99 (I see Nihili has recommended 255), but it will take away very close to everything. Hasten, armors, all of the really intrusive stuff. At 255 it may take out all of the other stuff as well, like Maneuvers. It only changes it on my screen, and my character, but for me that's all that matters.
Make sure you try this Vitality. It really can make a big difference. -
Quote:Totally agree. ELA seems to have zero bad powers and so far I like it a lot (level 30). But I kind of wish I could get that new Jump Attack power in there. I sure the heck don't have three open power slots though.I know they can't drop it, I was just curious if the -Resist in IS made it a better attack than HB to begin with for Tankers.
And yeah, I have that same problem with a lot of the power set combos.Which is a good thing imo, as I always thought the Primary and Secondary powers should be powers you just hate to skip, but whew, makes those build choices harder.
...and has me wishish they'd level lock the power pool powers, instead of level lock AND tier them.
StJ right now isn't a big deal, I only have four attacks. But by 40 I'll have them all, and then I'll have to see if some aren't getting used. My build has a lot of Kinetic Combat (as you recommended) and I'll lose a set if I skip an attack. Not sure if I want to do that. I've got my smash/lethal DEF up over 42!
I see what you were asking now. I misunderstood. That's a good question. -
Quote:Well you can't drop Initial Strike, so out of those two Heavy Blow is the only one you can leave off a build.I don't know, I've seen quite a few of them.
However, I think the questions for Tankers would be, is Initial Strike a better attack than Heavy Blow for Tankers?
Heavy Blow deals roughly 9more points of damage, but Initial Strike has the -resist.
I'm trying to work on my ELA/StJ build, and right now have all the StJ attacks, but I'm thinking in the long run that won't be the best way to go. -
Quote:I have a character set aside for Titan Weapons, but that screenshot is a turn off for buying it. I think I underestimated how goofy the weapons might look to me. Hopefully it'll be different looking for axes, or have cool animations.Eh, I'm pretty sure the folks that are saying this have pretty much buried the set for themselves when it was first mentioned. It's the idea of "extra large weapons" they don't like more than anyone screenshot.
That shot looks like I could spend a lot of time with my weapon clipping through walls, which would suck. -
Finished Snuff today! I keep thinking that Pratchett's quality is going to suffer, but I really loved this one. Vimes is just a favorite of mine, and though it takes a little bit to really get to the Vimes, once the story is there it's very very good.

Quote:I got points but no token as well. At this point I'm so bloody confused about what I'm supposed to have that I don't even know if I should be expecting a token.Yeah I also got my points today and would really like a set date in my Master Account for the tokens. That was the great thing about vet rewards, it told you when the next one was coming. Not really liking the nebulous "Limited Time" on Tier 9 VIP rewards either...if I wait it out until November 11, will I still be able to purchase Celestial items or am I going to be behind forever?
Paragon has really fallen down on setting and then meeting customer expectations.
Heck TrueGentleman left out from his timeline the whole deal with Paragon promising that you would get all your tokens up front, only to change that the day before release. -
Did you take into account bruising for Tankers?

Quote:I don't remember anyone saying that, but I sure hope it's true. Even if they do though, I'd bet they'll ignore the Mastermind version of the set and just look at the recently propagated versions. In fact, I'd cynically bet that the "attention" will be simply swapping the tier one power for corrs and trollers.Jayboh and a few other fellow posters posted in the other poison threads about the issues with poison. There's word that the set will be looked at come 21.5.
Quote:Just to chime in real quick on this, the reason the MM tier 9 hasn't changed is because Synapse couldn't figure out what to do with it. It doesn't work like the ally-toggle-AoE debuff from /Sonic because it grants the pet a power, and Synapse said that this would take WAY too long to figure out how to recode it and go far beyond the scope of a quickie revamp alongside the proliferation.
I mentioned that masterminds would likely be willing to settle for their poison-9 being nuked in exchange for the PBAoE toggle that corrs and trollers got instead...but sadly nothing came of that. Likely because this would take away the Artificial Stupidity factor that limits the potential of the power.
Noxious should just be a toggle that targets only pets, but doesn't change statistics based on the tier of pet. It's that simple. You take away the tier dependency so that Poison becomes a realistic option for more than just the primaries with T3 melee pets (Thugs and Demons I think). You make it a toggle, because even as a toggle the power has so many limitations (AI, pet only, melee only) that it's not going to be overpowered as an individual power, nor does it make Poison as a set even vaguely overpowered.
Poison Trap should really be looked at again IMO. The changes, at least for MM's, are incredibly minor. Poison doesn't need minor changes. -
Quote:Poison is a single target set; it's not for large spawn killing. The recently added splash is very small, and only spreads at half effectiveness. Plus Noxious Gas is up only about half the time. I wouldn't recommend Poison for what you're looking for.Hey all, I want to make a MM and actually try to get one to 50 but I cant chose which MM to go for. I have my mind set on AV killing and HUGE spawn kill but I dont know which to choose from. I know the buiser will be doing the melee damage and him+ noxious gas would be a good combo plus the new splash affect for poison. As for Pain the Heals and the perc that come with it seem nice also and I cant make my mind up plz help me decide and can someone make a build for the one you see best fit plz
Also im kind of looking into demons but I dont know much about them so some info would also be nice
Thanks again -
What log does it show in? Combat?

Quote:I did ELA on my StJ Tanker, mostly because I wanted to but also because in my thread on the Tanker forums you made it sound cool. For the tank, I suggest ELA! Why? For one, SR is just kinda...boring. Toggle and go, just like WP.
Next, ELA just isn't used as much with the StJ pairing. In all the StJ users I saw yesterday (and I by no means saw them all), I saw one FA Brute, a couple Regen Brutes, and everything else being SR, INV, WP, EA (I can only assume that's because of it's recent buffs).
Why not go after something that gives a 20% +Recharge, and awesome slow resist (40% which when combined with a Winter's Gift IO, is 60%), can get to 90% S/L Resist, and still hit 45% S/L Defense.
You get all the ELA powers early which is nice, so END problems are less of a worry, and added AOE damage with the damage aura.
For Tanker, that's what I would go with...the fact that I hadn't seen one makes it seem like an even better reason to go for it.
As for EA on the Scrapper, sure, why not.
Up to 22. I really like it thus far. I was main tanking for a 43 mission team at level 20 and had only one defeat, and that was because I ran out of power. ELA seemed really good, even at that level.
I saw more StJ Brutes than Scrappers, and FAR more of both than Tankers. I saw maybe two other Tankers in all the time I spent in Atlas.
I'm not totally sure I disagree with the statement (made earlier in the thread) that Tankers don't really have much of a place any more, but personally I still would rather play a Tanker. -
I have to go five pages in to find any Poison threads on the Mastermind boards. And that one is from before the beta started.

Quote:Good thing they used all that downtime to make sure things were going to work well.I'm hoping they have just forgot to turn something on here, but I am trying to get my friend Ron into the game and he can't create an account. EVERY account name he tries to enter fails.
I tried as well, and NOTHING will work as a valid account name. (yes, I am following the naming rules with letters, numbers, length, etc.) We were able to set him up with a PlayNC account by clicking the link at the top easily enough, but a CoX account can't be created successfully.
Help? -
This. I'm barely playing at this point. When StJ comes out I'll start again. Not that they care I suppose, they're getting my sub money either way.

Quote:Me quoting you is in no way a criticism of you Ace. I'm just pointing out the qualifier there.
Castle's objective was to solidify Mace as the aoe melee set, and that's what we got but the numbers separating the two sets currently are not that monumental, in fact I believe had Floyd done nothing to WM Axe would likely still be thought of as the strongest weapon power set.
As I mentioned before, and quite honestly it was Acemace that got me going this direction, ultimately the problem isn't that Axe is worse than Mace. The problem is that the "weapon" sets are worse than the "regular" sets. Not only in performance, but Mace and Axe don't even get their own animations!
The battle shouldn't be between the weapon sets, it should be the weapon sets both trying to get brought up to par with the non-weapon sets. -
Quote:But that advantage doesn't do you a lot of good if you don't end up with the early powers in your build. I have the first attack (for bruising), swoop, whirling axe, cleave, and pendulum. That's five attacks, plenty to build an attack chain, and I don't even have hasten.I agree, I dont want more damage I just wish it had more knockdown. it just seemed weird to me that maces would have more reliable knockdown at the end than axes. Gorgar is definatley right about the first three powers and they are why I chose and love axe so much, because about every other time I swing somethings gonna happen whereas maces has very small percentage chances on disorients.
The radius doesn't really matter. Pendulum has such a small max targets that it's most likely not taking advantage of that extra three feet anyway. I'm using Pendulum in the middle of large groups of bad guys. I don't need to hit guys farther away from me, I need to hit MORE of the guys close to me! -
Quote:It's a tier 9 that only works at top effectiveness for two MM primaries. It's dependent on pet AI. It's only effective in combat, and in melee range. It can only target pets. And it's unavailable half the time.Tier 9 isn't bla. It's a solid power that just happens to be unavailable half the time.
I agree though, "Blah" probably isn't the best term for it. "Unreasonably limited" might be better.
Quote:I agree. It really should be a pet targeted toggle for Masterminds.
