Big surprise, no mention of the EATs or powersets that were supposedly being made and getting spread over I10-I12.

Or the Cathedral of Pain, rofl.

I look forward to issue 9 but....

I have been playing since beta and you would think that I know all about everything in this game of CoX however I'm losing track of it all. I never built a base yet, I was thinking of it but I did not know where to start and trying to find info I have to piece together a couple of forum discussion groups. Same goes alot of the upcoming stuff and some of the older stuff. CoX is getting to be too big SPECIALLY since the manual has been out of date for a couple of years.

Can we have an up-to-date online manual and not just a bunch of forum links?

Makes sense to me. Supposedly Hero-1 was much more powerful than Statesman. Add to that he's been Rikti-fied, and he's probably incredibly strong now, making hero/villain team ups nessecary.

Reichsman, what sort of powersets could this guy be said to have roughly.
I have the same Q about Hero 1 as well.
Also, where can i learn more about the 5th Coliums history?

We have known for a bit that EAT's are not in I10.

Interestingly in the same disclaimer they didn't mention new power sets.

I hope your confidence in I9 is justifed. For myself...there isn't that much that is fun to me, and a number of things I dislike.

The moving of the content forward DOES excite me though. However, when you say:

PLEASE don't make the new costumes "inventable". I created the look of my characters when I create them. Unlockable items, that I know when I can unlock them (cape, aura, witch's hat) can be planned for if they fit. But random drops, maybe you'll get it maybe you won't, might as well not exist.

I'm really looking forward to I10. I wish I shared your enthusiasm for I9.

hm...interesting to say the least to talk about the future of this game.

ive been around for a few years now, but have found myself bored in recent weeks. in the next few weeks a new issue will arrive where i should feel anxious to see, but for some reason im not. why you say??

inventions?? who from here asked for it?? dont remember one thread begging for that.

new content?? rehashed ones dont really count in my book.

so after a few days...then what?? then its back to the same ol story, where now i have to farm for recipes?? na...dont think so.


how about that new content so the toons that i made dont have to sit and do pretty much nothing ???

a new 50 zone where i can hunt if i just wanna do that.

new monsters.....since no one even goes after lusca anymore, lose her and make something else.

how about doing things we want, the ones who play it, instead of doing what the devs who barely play it wants. theres plenty of stuff that can be fixed or added, but yet , were not doing either.


how about...what happens to this game when marvel and DC's MMO's come out? what going to keep people here then??

Even I somehow doubt the Fae powered Hero 1 was "more powerful" than Statesman.

Congrats on 3 years, I have had a good amount of fun flying around your cities in Spandex.

The things I am most impressed with I9

QofL improvements, Stores in Kings Row, Train To Founder's Falls, basic IOs are very nice. New wings are very cool, and so are the rocket boots.

Statesman's Task Force and the ability to get involved with the signature characters is always good.

I am not impressed with the IO sets. These do not appear to be well thought out. There are some big problems with certain builds like defense sets and square peg and round hole problems with most of the defender set primaries. To be brutaly honest, I would have been happy with crafted hami-o types that allow you to make dam/end or acc/dam enhancements. If you wanted spice the uniques could stay, but the confusion on the set bonuses on: what applies when, and little hidden details like :the bonus to healing status effect doesn't apply to self heals that can accept resistance powers and oh by the way Reconstruction too for no good reason, but not mentioned anywhere, is just a big failure/accident waiting to happen IMHO. Not that the idea is bad per se, but there is no way to be fair to the sets that don't fit into the basic damage/heal/hold mold that this game continualy favors. Whenever you add so many convoluted and conditional rules you gotta expect your headed for big problems.

The biggest problem for me is the terible lag I experience everywhere now. When this game launched I never had lag problems. Big groups with AoEs a blasting never were a problem. Now, try flying near the consignment houses, try to play in an 8 man team in that #^%#$^ Arachnos base...This is a serious problem. Don't get me wrong, I love the ragdoll physics and the lights turning off and on, but all the pets, aoes and now the consignment house is just choking play.

While nobody has said it, the physical requirements of the game has changed significantly, and you really do need a high end machine to really enjoy the game. Most folks don't play CoV anymore because of lag issues. I suppose that is to be expected, and maybe their is an evil conspiracy by the game companies to help drive new video card sales, but dang this hard on simple working guy with many bills to pay. It really is a big problem to me anyway. Certainly limits my enjoyment a lot.

Lastly my biggest concern is regarding the IOs and their effects on exemping. One of the best things Cryptic has done, and one that has kept me around is the sk/exemping system that allows friends of a vastly different level to still play together. The new IOs sets are very unfriendly to exemping, and when you consider all the pvp zones and the arena are auto-exemping areas for high level characters, I am very concerned that this will eventualy be very counter-productive and hurt this system. It really penalizes folks heavily for exemping down to their friends level or playing in the PvP zones that are below their level.

Anyway, I am sure there will be many folks that enjoy the new aspects of I9 and some will loathe it because there is now loot in the game, and it is very addicitive.

My only question is what really is the health of the game, and is this stuff being done to retain subscribers or entice new ones?

And excuse me if I am wrong but aren’t parts of BT under re-construction?
And if so how hard would it be for someone to either by accident or purpose to find the spot where he is and have him released?
I myself see it as maybe a few of the work crew are loyalist and they know where he is and work towards their goal during work hours and when close, they come back in the night to do the final work of retrieving the capsule he is in and secreting it away in the cover of night.
Maybe even with a large explosion to cover their tracks.

Edit - Oh and to pick a nit. With the special test server event I checked out the CH and saw one major problem. The list woul dbe a lot shorter if there where no regular enhancements listed. I know you can narrow down the lsitings, but realy why can't people sell those things to vendors like everyone else??
