So do we start a separate thread for Part 2 answers? I guess I should have added my questions directly into the google doc instead of hoping they'd get noticed. I mean, I know it was a -monster- thread, and we really appreciate the effort, but it does seem to be still missing a lot of 'big' questions. So.. a part 2?
Still some really awesome stuff, the Sirocco thing would've been fantastic.

(Spoilers follow.)
They're looking for the PsychoChronoMetron, a device that can rewrite history which played a major role, and was lost, in the destruction of Overbrook. Ultimately, they do find it, but player heroes take it from them before they can get back to Recluse with it, and then have it destroyed.

We all kind of assumed someone else would spearhead things more and I don't think they did. So I hope we do a Part 2 as I think there's still a lot of major questions that weren't asked in the google doc and some of us can be more proactive in making sure the questions get asked (And.. seriously, let's cut the 'joke questions' plz? We're getting enough jokey answers already )

Also, definitely agree with your last part. Felt like as they went through the questions Matt just kind of gave up on effort.
Same here! My main/lead Villain (who made the morality arc-jump to full hero and is now on her way back full circle.) Really respected the HELL out of Scirocco. He and Ghost Widow are tied in my head for favorite redside signature characters.
And yeah - very disappointed not going to get to play that. ;_; |
And man, some of the stuff... the Dimensionless, Ultimatum, the True Rikti... all sounds awesome. Little concerned about the bit with us releasing Rularuu in the middle of their empire... wouldn't that be, y'know, the deaths of billions? I get that it's an "us or them" situation, and Rularuu's our last ace in the hole, but still...
Guess it'd depend on how well it's sold that humanity's only options are either annihilation or basically going nuclear on the Batallion by deploying Rularuu.
Now I'm sad that I won't see this. Well even more sad.

The Scirocco story was incredible. I always enjoyed his patron arc the most, he had the most depth of probably any of the named NPCs, IMO. I really would have enjoyed playing that arc.

I'd have loved every minute of that thing.
And for Kestrel and Cardinal's sake, I have to say thanks for spilling the beans on their boss' future. It makes it a little easier to potentially have to walk away from them knowing that they'd eventually have gotten to leave Grandville and still keep fighting the good fight right along with him.

Bring it, Batallion. You'll be purple and fluffy before you can do anything.

I am Lord Omi. Now and forever. They can take our City, but they can't take me.
TS: Being more clear about the way the Well operated in the Ramiel arc. Some players became convinced we were saying that the Well was the ultimate source of all super powers. Nothing could be further from the truth. - All life generates, in small doses, a particular ripple in the fabric of the universe by their existence - you can call this psychic energy, or power, or what have you - but it is generated by their movement through space and time - kind of like static electricity as you run silk over a glass rod. Exceptional life generates an outsized amount of this energy. Over time this energy builds up like a thunderhead, and when the minds of life give it a certain potential way out it rushes outward down that channel. In early days of humanity, this way out was manifested in elemental spirits, gods, titans - to be followed later by great leaders of civilization, generals, tyrants. As each of these great figures passed on, the outsized energy they possessed became part of the Well. (to be continued) JAH: For me, Origin of Powers. When I played the story arc, I felt like my character with whom Id been familiar for years had been changed out from under him. If that fundamental understanding had been in the game since the beginning, it would have been fine - but I was Miles K. Brown the super-scientist-inventor, not Miles K. Brown the Science Magician. I know the arc wasnt intended to create this feeling - it was meant to give players an added sense of connection with the game world - but I think it needed to leave significantly more leeway for alternative interpretations than it did. |
Except, Tim, that doesn't fully explain how its possible to devour or destroy a Well permanently. That would seem to be impossible under that theory.

I like the glimpse into the development process the most. The juggling act between "That would be awesome" and "Time/Resources/People are limited" factors into so many things, even the really small stuff.
I like the Scirocco redemption angle. I always figured there would be more side switching in the lore once GR came, but it never really happened outside of the introduction of two characters that had already made the transformation (Desdemona and Maelstrom) and a fakeout with Manticore.

Just got finished reading the doc. There are still things I have questions about (that I thought had been asked? maybe they weren't in the doc). The only thing that sucks about this is that we found out this way rather than in the game as content. The bit about the moonbase approval is especially hurtful, because it was approved so recently.
Reading this, I can imagine how much fun it would've been to play out some of these storylines. The Scirocco arc sounds fantastic. My first villain took him as a patron and I loved his arcs then. Seeing it come full circle would've been even better, especially on a scale like it was plotted out to be. I liked some of the potential(? seeing as they weren't set in stone) surprises, like Citadel being an agent for the Battalion or Tyrant taking on the Statesman mantle to redeem himself.
This was a real treat. Thanks to the devs for making this happen. I hope things turn around and we get to see all this in the game someday.

BTW, I misspoke before, referring to the Devs as a seperate community from the players. Nothing could be further from the truth.
