Dear mods: NOW can we talk about other games?

lets see now, games i will be playing. well, with less time devoted to coh(and work no longer pounding me with overtime), i can finally finish some of my backlog including
legend of zelda, skyward sword(which i have less than 4 hours in, and i love zelda)

the teeth of naros dlc of kingdom of amalur.. the story is so bad, but the game is so good.

4 different tales of games...symphonia, vesperia, chlamydia, something like that. heard the last game had a viral marketing plan. (seriously, symphonia 1 and 2, vesperia and abyss)

finally man up and go into sen's fortress in dark souls...after blightown i have been somewhat scared o the abuse the game throws at you, and i hear sens is where it gets really nasty. have a faith/dex wanderer with a divine balder side sword and a enchanted partizen. currently dragon covenant. shocker there.

finally play arc rise fantasia and mana carta 2.

and finally get my graatsword user in monster hunter tri past that quest with the stupid mimic bird in the desert.

mmo wise, its going to be CO, might try tera, though again, no monks or halberd users? and no the lance doesnt count. probably would be an aman, giant dragon people? i can work with that. and when the west gets phantasy star online 2, i will be running as a cast(big honkin robot) again. in fact my main tank, space robot 5 had a costume that was a semi faithful reproduction of my HUcast from the original.

So I'm shopping for a new game & decide to give the free trial of SWOTR a try...I've gotten a couple classes up a few levels (Commando & Smuggler...I'm avoiding the Jedi/Sith classes to start).

Does this game get any better? As of right now it's pretty much the same old run & click or shoot quests with random drop loot. Also maybe its my comp but I just find the animations so clunky & jerky that they're annoying. I'm a huge SW fanboy along with the KOTOR games and was hoping for something a little more awe-inspiring I guess....ah well, the trial is unlimited access to lev 15 so maybe the Force classes will be better.

Very spoiled by CoH I think, in terms of animation/Powers & UI there is nothing else quite like it.

COH/CoV - Virtue
8 Ball - Lev 50 Kin/Energy Defender
The Canadian Fist - Lev 50 Ice/EM Blaster

Omega Ghost - Lev 50 Robo/Dark MM
Ghostfall - Lev 50 Arachnos Crab Soldier

I would like to play another Super Hero game. I have played both Champions and DC Universe just a little mostly I do not like them, but without COH what choice do I have. This is probably the first and last MMO that will hold my attention.
Most of these games you meantion I don't know. I know what WOW is but most others I don't. Could be someone clarify the abreviations you use so I can look them up?

I could name my 50s but why? Universal Heroes SG I love this game.

The best reason to play TOR is for the various class story lines. The actual mechanics of the gameplay are nothing special or innovative, but the stories are typical Bioware awesomeness.

Goodbye, I guess.

SWTOR - Star Wars: The Old Republic
GW2 - Guild Wars 2 (another NCSoft title)
TSW - The Secret (Second?) World
UO - Ultima Online (really old, like 14 years)
FFXI/XIV - Final Fantasy 11 or 14
DDO - Dungeons & Dragons Online
LOTRO - Lord of the Rings Online

If you are looking for other superhero games, there are a few, but they are all offline. Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1&2, Superhero League of Hoboken, Freedom Force, Freedom Force vs the Third Reich, Lego Batman 1 & 2, Batman Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, and a few other random Marvel games.

I have to highly recommend Guild Wars 2, to be perfectly honest. I'm not holding any personal bias or blame towards NCSoft, and ArenaNet's doing some groundbreaking and forward-thinking stuff in the MMO space. There's an excellent half-hour long review by Angry Joe on Youtube (you can find the link in the General Discussions forum) that covers the major points far better than I could.

But if you look at the entirely organic way this MMO flows, the ease of picking up skills, the lack of boring mechanics (levelling, repairing, defeats, travel and tiered abilities are almost invisible) and the constant incentive to just be involved, you may come away thinking as I have along with a number of people I've spoken to that if there was going to be a sequel/successor to City, a lot of what's being done here should definitely be employed.

Everything I've heard about GW2 makes me think it's a nice game.

If ArenaNet ceases to be owned by/under the authority of ncsoft, I will quite possibly try it out.

Currently trying to wean myself off MMO's with DCUO.

Of course the moment I set my mind to it, they release patches to make gearing up solo much much easier, especially if you have characters that were around when the Great Hacking occurred.

I'm looking at Champions, but I can't bring myself to sub or play $50 to unlock a freeform character slot.

My roommate is having raptures over GW2, but I'm feeling rankled and scorned concerning NcSoft. I feel like if I start caring about one of their games it's going to get cancelled.

That Korean style aesthetic is a big turn off to me, aside from the NCSoft fact.

That picture of the chick with her boobs hanging out is just wrong. The head is WAY too small for the rest of the body.

Thanks for the information. I have Batman Arkham City on PS3 and DC Versus Mortal Kombat plus Red Dead Redemption. I plan on giving Champions Online a longer try. Basically I made a toon and played for 10:mlns when I decided I didn't like it. DCUO I played maybe an hour. So if I play a game it will be free stuff no montly bills. Until COH closes I will play nothing else. I was taking a break but after 8 / 31 happened I am back with a vengeance to save COH or ride it till the end.

This. After not enjoying character creation process I took the game for a spin, after about 20 minutes I shut it down and uninstalled it.

I found DCUO to be fairly enjoyable and am tempted to get the fight for Light pack so that I can join the GLC. But for now it's COH to the end unless the game gets saved.

Basically for super hero MMO's it's: COH > DCUO > CO. Cant judge the Marvel one yet as beta isn't until Oct 1st. Transformers Universe looks promising also.

Not being able to create an customize a unique character is enough to keep me away from the Marvel MMO.

I may try it, and if the character selection includes certain characters and the gameplay holds up I might even find myself inclined to continue playing it. But I haven't kept up with it. I prefer to make my own characters, of course, but given that I play games like Ultimate Alliance and Arkham City I'm not going to completely snub a game for lack of character creation... it'll have to try harder in the gameplay department to keep me for any length of time, though.

My own impression is CoH = CO > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > DCUO.

Based on when I played ChO for its first few months I would have replaced the "=" with a ">", and taken out a few of the latter between ChO and DCUO. But after going back to ChO and playing a great deal this last weekend, I'd just take out a few of the symbols between ChO and DCUO. And if ChO's costume creator was a bit better I might even place it above CoH.

Well, when I played around launch, it was more like:

CoH > > CO

I would also have put DCUO a lot closer to both if the endgame were better.

I found knocking opposing faction players off ledges and cliffs they'd unwisely decided to stand near to be pretty amusing.

I would say that most of the class stories aren't up to Bioware's usual standard. You can tell different classes had different writers. And even the better class stories are more linear than Bioware's earlier stuff.

It's ironic that CoH has been trying to become less linear, whist other developers have become more linear.

I really should do something about this signature.

So I bought The Secret World today. Love the premise, the graphics of the game are okay, but the default character looks and movements are kinda blah.

Champions Online may be playable ... it'll be where I'll go for my Near COH Fix.

DC Online has a gorgeous world and I'm getting used to the characters. But gameplay is not what I'd like.

Downloaded the WOW trial. I may give that a try simply because I know so many people who play it.

Well, I played through the entirety of the Mass Effect series recently. Actual gameplay/storywise, it was meh.

However, I <3 Liara & Tali...

Yeah, the default looks are a bit too limited IMO, I mean... there isn't even a shirtless option for the guys, despite the fact that for part of the Illuminati intro video you are shirtless so the model/texture does exist.

According the the email I just got today, their "Issue 2" update added in a tailor/plastic surgery store/system that includes more options, but as I don't actively play, I have no idea how you access it.

You go to New York for the plastic surgeon (it stands out a bit) and to London for the barber (Ockham's Razor), although the latter is tucked a bit into a corner and I forget where.
