What is it going to take to get you to move to Virtue today?

I don't think it was totally down to the random minimum leagues - it's just that preforming has simply been part of the culture of the game from the start.
Before the LFG and the Incarnate system arrived, the only way to join a team was to either start it yourself, or get invited by someone who'd started one themselves - it just semed much more natural to transition from "mission team in Talos LFM" to "BAF forming, PST" than to switch to a random team forming tool.
Even things like DFB tend to be preformed - I quite often see 4 or more people in Atlas broadcasting that they're looking for a DFB run

All Golden Girls ?? Was the name free on all?

btw... To get me to move from UNION...? Hahahahaha... that would mean getting my SG moved... my base moved... and all my friends moved. Otherwise there would be no real reason. And then still I wouldn't like to change names. So I like my names reserved there too please.

Don't count on it... I actually bought enough slots on UNION to hold 48 alts now.

- The Italian Job: The Godfather Returns #1151
Beginner - Encounter a renewed age for the Mook and the Family when Emile Marcone escapes from the Zig!
- Along Came a... Bug!? #528482
Average - A new race of aliens arrives on Earth. And Vanguard has you investigate them!
- The Court of the Blood Countess: The Rise of the Blood Countess #3805
Advanced - Go back in time and witness the birth of a vampire. Follow her to key moments in her life in order to stop her! A story of intrigue, drama and horror! Blood & Violence... not recommend to solo!

Virtue's the only server I've ever played on, really. (The alts transferred to cold storage on Infinity, and the one character I made on Freedom for an event and/or to gape in sick fascination at how awful AP is there, don't count.)

Now, if you asked (as I first thought this subject did) what it would take to get me to move off of Virtue, I think a loaded gun pointed at some part of my anatomy would have to be involved.

Started on Virtue way back when. Got too crowded for me. Been steadily transferring all favored characters to other less populated servers where I rarely encounter other players.

One thing you can take away from the thread...people are dedicated and have an almost religious type of fanatic attachment to their servers

What moves me to Virtue? Tragedy.

After an answer like that a story or 2 seems in order.

1st story is very simple. Coalition had broken up and the breakup was nasty. Because I neither wanted to attack anyone or BE attacked, I switched over to Virtue for a week or 2. (Yeah, as forum stories go that was pretty bland.)

2nd story is also simple. Just over a year ago I got chicken pox at age 42. After the first few days I was able to play again, but my focus was erratic and my sleep schedule was all over the place. I couldn't leave my house but I wanted to talk to ANYone other than immediate family, often at 3 am. Enter Virtue, the land of the 24/7 iTrial. This was the release I needed so very desperately. I could play, talk, and still contribute. Oh and I built up enough threads and merits to unlock incarnate slots for all of my other 50s.

It's not how many times you get knocked down that count. It's how many times you get up.

Already on Virtue. Been there for over 4 years.

Also have 50s on every server.

Some played a lot some not at all.

Most played toons are on virtue and freedom, as those are the ones that seems to be able to form ANY trial more easily.

Blazara Aura LVL 50 Fire/Psi Dom (with 125% recharge)
Flameboxer Aura LVL 50 SS/Fire Brute
Ice 'Em Aura LVL 50 Ice Tank
Darq Widow Fortune LVL 50 Fortunata (200% rech/Night Widow 192.5% rech)--thanks issue 19!

I don't know if I'd call it fanatical, but I have to admit, I started on Justice, made a few alts on other servers, but always feel more "comfortable" when I'm "home". I've never had any problem finding teams or running TF/Trials, and I recognize the names, and as another poster mentioned know the "vibe" of the server. That and the attachment I have for my original toons. Kinda like those multiverse comic story lines, the characters are always wanting to get back to their "Earth" where everything makes sense in it's own special way.

Judging from the kind of weak teams the LFG tool tends to assemble when left to its own devices, it's no surprise trying to rely on it exclusively instead of entering a queue with pre-formed leagues resulted in lots of failure.

Guardian's been dead since I8, by my lights. If I hadn't started playing on virtue about the same time I started on Guardian I'd have moved there forever ago.

Union. First server I played on when EU CoH went retail. 48 character slots. 7 years. Names I wouldn't get on Virtue.

If they ever got rid of Union, I would never return to this game. As it stands, I could do with some more character slots on Union, what with Nature Affinity, Bio Armour and Water Blast coming soon.

Unless I say the words 'Incarnate Trial' or 'Badge'. Then suddenly there comes from nowhere a swarm of characters descending upon Dark Astoria like a plague of super-powered locusts.

You rang? And yes, I'm still the Mayor of Pinnacle (6 years strong, no further elections), and will never, ever leave. I love those crazy drunks, and have since January 2005!

Pffft, I'm on a team every night on Guardian and have been since Issue 1. We have regular scheduled events, and active community and three busy global chats forming TFs and leagues. Unless you play late or non primetime hours you can find almost anything to do on Guardian. It's not the busiest (thank god) but its far from dead.

I have to agree. Guardian may not be the highest population server, but it is far from dead. I play itrials, DA farm runs, and lowbie stuff with old and new players all the time. I've never had a hard time joining a team or making one myself.

an SG with at least 4 players active west coast time doing non-incarnate content
or an active enough player base that I could easily hit LFG and find a team

I mentioned earlier that Protector is where my friends are... but my friends are apparently all on vacation or dead. Time will tell.

I've been playing on Virtue and it's been nice to have iTrials running non-stop into the wee hours of the morning on weeknights. Over the course of a few days I took a flat 50 up to +3, T4 on one ability, and T3 on all but two others. It's crazy - would have taken me months on Protector.

Not a single global friend out of all that, but it's been fun. Can't wait for my friends on Protector to come back or self-rez.

I visit Virtue once a year to help out the Real World Hero folks. That's it. Otherwise, it's Justice all the way.

eh, id compare it more to the "cheers" effect. barring significant difference in service, which doesn't happen with servers, the game itsself is the same everywhere, the next biggest determinant is community. and thats where you go where everybody knows your name. also, having a fully kitted out base with teleporters to all regions blue and redside is nice. Its not that we dont try other servers at times, but for a number of players, community counts. and while I am sure that if I started on freedom, pinnacle, virtue or wherever, I would have found people i could talk to there too, lib was where I started and lib is generally where i stay.
