The Entropic Chaos self-heal proc has a ridiculously low chance to fire, and when it does fire it will frequently do nothing since your hit points will be full. I'm not a huge fan of the Achilles' Heel proc, but at least it fires 4x as much and it does do something for yourself and your teammates when it fires. You may want to re-think the whole proc thing for I24 when they all go procs-per-minute pro-rated for AoE.
Hasten was losing far too much to ED. If you want to use five enhancement boosters, apply them to Hasten to push it back into serious ED territory.
Thanks for the reply. Wish I'd seen it before I started slotting the build, but I was expecting to have to fine tune it anyway. A few thoughts:

Thanks for the heads up on the proc changes, I haven't been paying attention.

Entropic proc: After seeing this in action, agreed, though with the proc changes coming up, I wonder if the proc floor chance would be higher than 5%, making this more attractive.

TT:Manoeuvres v CT: Defensive : your slotting trades 1% ranged for .4 everything else, which is basically .4 AoE and psionic. It's pretty marginal, but I think I'd rather have the 1% ranged.

After playing the character I've also learned that less than 40 MPH on hover is pretty much painful. I've slotted hover with two BotZ for speed and speed/endurance as a way to get the speed while keeping some defense.

But the biggest thing to come to light is the endurance issues. I was right to be worried about it. I'm sitting at 3.88 e/sec at the moment and I can empty my endurance bar without a single toggle running. With everything running it took 50 seconds on the Rikti practice dummies. This locks me into either Cardiac or Ageless on incarnate powers if I want to make up the difference (and I really wanted to go Musculature/ageless radial), though at this point I'm starting to wonder whether it's not better to just take Agility, drop Weave and Manoeuvres and make up the difference in defense with set bonuses.
  2. I've been banging my head on this for the past two hours so I figure I might as well toss it out for feedback.

    Goals were as follow:

    Hover
    Soft capped Ranged
    Seamless AoE attack chain
    Perma Pets
    Soft Capped AoE
Single Target damage that isn't terrible
Avoid useless powers and set mules as much as possible (it's just a pet peeve of mine, I hate taking powers I'm never going to use just for set bonuses.)

I'm mostly there. I don't think the AoE chain is seamless but I couldn't figure out a way to keep both suppression and heavy burst in the build. I have both in my SO build at the moment but I'm hoping with that much recharge I won't miss not having Heavy Burst. Or maybe it's worth dropping Frag Grenade (the 10 radius drives me nuts)

I'm frankly at a loss as to how to slot the pets. Do they need acc? How much does slotting damage in them matter?

My only rule is no more than 5 enhancement boosters. I'm not looking to spend paragon points/money right now (and my stipend is going towards costume packs WHICH ARE FAR MORE IMPORTANT) and 5 is what I have right now. There's two empty slots left that I don't know what to do with, so there's some room to play with.

My biggest concern atm is the crushing endurance consumption of all those toggles. Hover speed too.

  3. Is the extra damage noticeable? Been wondering what to take on my fire/kin myself.

Crab seems to do the same things that solider does, but worse.
  5. Ugh forum ate my post. I'm not gonna type out that giant monstrosity again, so you get the abridged version: At 24 I picked all the crab attack powers instead of the solider ones, and I feel the worse for having done so.

The Targeted AoE powers are equivalent. The two ranged single target attacks are better from the solider pool, and I have taken both Heavy Burst and Suppression to have a full AoE attack chain. The Melee attacks on crab seem pointless.

Basically from where I'm standing none of the crab attacks aside from Suppression and Omega Manoeuvre have a reason for existing. This is disappointing because I so love the crab backpack and want to shoot things out of it, but feel like I'd have done better if I stuck with the Solider equivalents instead.

    Am I missing something here?

That did it! I forgot about Alan Desslock. Finishing his last mission gave me the intro.
  7. Paragon wiki informs me Brick Johnson gives a mission that gives another costume slot. Problem is I'm 32 now and he tells me to scram if I talk to him, I'm too high to pick up paper missions to get an introduction, and Ouroboros doesn't seem to have him in the mission list (unless I'm missing it, but I went over it a few times).

So how do I get this thing, am I out of luck?

I know it is for me. I just can't mentally connect with keybinding all my powers for some reason. I don't feel like I'm terribly inefficient using a mouse for most power activations; maybe I am and just don't realize it haha.
CoH is pretty forgiving of mouse clicking in my opinion. Switching from using the mouse primarily to keybindings saw me a huge benefit to my gameplay in WoW, but in CoH it's mostly a convenience thing. I don't have keybinds set up for every character, and aside from my MM (whom I wouldn't touch without all the keybinds) I don't feel I'm giving up much at all on the characters I click on.

Aside from 1 2 3 and possibly with the exception of V and C, you have to move your hand more to hit the number keys than you do to hit all the characters around WASD. I have much the same setup and don't use the number keys for anything,
  9. Guardian's been dead since I8, by my lights. If I hadn't started playing on virtue about the same time I started on Guardian I'd have moved there forever ago.
  10. You're not alone, controllers used to be my favorite too but for the most part I don't play them. Too many mobs that are immune to control. They're also the one AT that, depending on the power-sets involved, can have both their primary and secondary rendered largely useless when teaming. More damage is always useful; my fire/kin does well, but I might as well be reading a book most of the time on my earth/emp.
  11. Your build is pretty much what I've been think of for my fledging fire/kin, Wyldhunt. Are you planning on fitting in the snipe what with the snipe changes?

Edit: Also do you ever miss siphon power?
  12. Eternal_Wilting

    Am I poor now?

About two and a half years ago I hit the 2b mark . As it happens, I quit playing about a week after creating that thread. Well I'm back now, and only slightly worse for the wear after the minor heart attack from seeing a row of "bid canceled"'s at wentworths.

So what's changed? Has inflation totally destroyed my buying power and rendered me a pauper? Is 3 billion chump change now ?
  13. Fiery Kat hit the 1 billion mark today. What we have learned here is that cat girls do not look good in top-hats.

  14. It took me about 10 battle maiden clears to get my first purple while farming on my spines/fire. You might get one soon or in ages, that's the nature of random. Don't be disheartened if it takes a while, and you're better off getting rid of any expectation to see one every x or so clears. I've averaged a purple every 3000 kills until I hit 30k mobs killed, and then I got five purples in the next 5000 kills. Do it long enough and you'll get some, but they certainly won't be regular.

As far as the enhancements go, I farm on +0x8 and I still get a lot of enhancements below level 50. I wouldn't worry about them, considering enhancements don't sell for much of anything. Unless you mean recipes, in which case yeah you need to farm level 50's to get level 50 recipes.

I've also accidentally vendor'd an Armageddon chance for fire damage proc before, so I feel your pain, heh. I've learned not to mess with my inventory unless I've already off-loaded the stuff I want onto the market, base or crafted them.
  15. Steel Canyon? I was in Talos when the picture was taken.
  16. The name's Questionable Hero, and she's ready for an IO build when she hits 50.

Funny enough the monocle was already part of the costume, just had to add the top-hat.

  17. I'm wondering if anyone's respec'd out of siphon power. I find that I don't use it all that often since I've gotten fulcrum shift on my ar/kin, so it seems like an easy power to drop, but I can't help but feel like this power must be awesome and I'm somehow missing something. I find it handy for debuffing bosses when solo mostly.

I'm also messing around in mids trying to get a ranged defense ar/kin build... and I wonder if that's actually worth aiming for, or whether it's better to build towards smashing/lethal. I spend a fair bit of time running in and out of melee obviously, so I'm not sure how much mileage I'd get out of a 'traditional' hover blasting build. I guess this would depend a lot on how easy or hard it is to fulcrum shift yourself while hovering out of melee range.

Here's the build I have so far if anyone's curious.

  18. So after getting a spines/fire scrapper to 50 and equipping her with a cheapish IO build, I can safely say she puts my ar/kin to shame, but that is comparing an IO'd scrapper versus an un-IO'd corruptor. Having to wait for full auto for every ten mobs really just takes too long, I still don't know how an IO'd AR/kin would compare, but it would pretty much comes down to how much +recharge you can fit into the build, and how fast Full-Auto recharges.

  20. Frankly I've found light-form to be almost useless. It's not bad while you're in it, except for the fact that you still run out of end even with the double recovery you get from the form, but the crash at the end takes you out of the fight for a while and having a beefier human form still isn't a good enough trade-off to forgo access to the other forms.
  21. I gave up on my Peacebringer (tri-form, with focus on nova) at level 39. I agree with everything Bill mentioned in his first post, but I'd add the following annoyances:

Can't queue powers out of your form. The forms overall are just clunky in a myriad of ways.
    Shifting takes too long.
    Insane endurance issues
-recharge makes dwarf useless (you either lose aggro, run, or watch as you die a slow agonizing death... or shift to human and die a fast death)
Human shields fantastically useless. With them on, I run out of end in light form (since I don't have it slotted for damage resist yet), and there's no point in toggling them otherwise because the forms shut them off.
Human ranged attacks also useless, aside from proton scatter. The damage just isn't there, and now that cosmic balance carries over to the forms, the one saving grace they had (massive damage buff with the right team setup) is gone.
Light form is just annoying. Doesn't give enough endurance recovery at base to overcome the massive end drain on human attacks, and I've never been fond of crash mechanics. As it is light form is the only time human form feels decent.
Impossible to get a tri-form build that doesn't waste slots and powers. You have no choice but to pick a ranged attack and a shield, or two ranged attacks for levels two and four. By level 14 you are again forced to pick a shield or a ranged human attack unless you go into power pools, and this is already assuming you picked up proton scatter.

I love my peacebringer and will bring him to 50 eventually, but he's just too frustrating to play most of the time.
  22. On the last question, check out the Cimerora wall. I farm that on my Ar/Kin corruptor. I don't know how archery plays, but at a glance in mids it looks doable.
  23. [ QUOTE ]

You make more on average from purple drops than from EVERYTHING ELSE.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Pretty much. I have about 460 million on my AR/kin corr from the cimerora wall and about 200 million of that is from selling purples. I'm also holding onto an unbreakable constraint and ragnarok that would further push that ratio if I sold them.
  24. ...do I know you? Lol. I feel like I'm being stalked now.
